Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

My bib is #5040 - sounds like C.

ETA hmm, not sure about corral placement at the moment. I was 7126 last year, and was in D.

I never thought I'd do this, but I think I'm going to be like my grandma and go ahead and start packing 3 weeks early. I can't wait anymore!
I have been working on a packing list so I don't forget anything. For any normal Disney vacation, I usually put my list together a few days before leaving (packing up usually the night before)...but this is way different and I definitely do not want to find myself forgetting anything important. My shoes and running costume are definitely going in my carry on.

In case getting my waiver & a good (for me) corral placement wasn't good enough, I came home to find my sparkletech Minnie Mouse skirt in the mailbox.
Best. Day. EVER! :-)
(Except for my wedding day & the day my kids were born of course. Really glad my DH doesn't read the DIS boards hee hee)

4325 here. Really wanted a B , but I imagine this is C. My 10k time improved 4 minutes since I signed up, but I'm not sure it's worth caring about enough to try for a change. I was in C at the DL Half and it was just fine. I didn't have any problems stumbling over walkers, which was great for a race that size.

ashysmashy - what a great idea! My grandma is the same way and always asks me if I'm packed WAY before I've even started to think about it. But I'm already thinking and planning. My shoes and all my running stuff is going in my carry on - no way am I risking the airline losing my shoes!

I'm so grateful for this thread and message board also. I am so glad to have found all these fellow Disney runners!

I too am carrying my running stuff on the plane. I'm also accumulating papers for this trip, and it seems like I have more paper for this trip than my average trip to WDW. Along with DME vouchers, hotel receipts, and plane tickets, I've got the waiver and the Disneyland Half proof of time!

You seem to be implying C corral is bad?

Not trying to be rude or offend anyone. Was just hoping for B. Standing around waiting in E at Tink was torture. I actually ran 13.5 mi according to my gps which I attribute to all the bobbing and weaving I had to do. Also didn't stop for any photo ops bc the lines were so long!

Me too! Wanted B but looks like C. I have a 10k coming up which I know will have a better pace time, but I'm thinking of not asking to move. For the dumbest reason, which is, I don't want a sharpie crossed out mess on my bib. I like how beautiful and pretty they are. RunDisney bibs are the best!! Dumb I know, but good to know that C will prob be totally fine.

I was in Corral C for Princess and had no problem with crowds etc

Thanks for the reassurance!

Just curious to be able to see the pace range in each corral when they are posted.

Could you post your 10K or 1/2 marathon expected time with your bib number?

#11780

my 1/2 marathon proof of time 3:11

I've been in the next to last corral with all the 3 Disneyland half marathons I've walked and Tinkerbell. I'd love to be able to move up 1 corral but I don't know what goal I need to achieve to get there.

4325, 10K proof at 66 min (though improved now:).
I expect to run the half in maybe 2:25. I ran a 9-miler the other day with straight 11 min/miles, but I'm plagued by injuries, so I'm always just in it to finish!

5366 - 10k proof at 1:09. Hoping I can run this in 2:35 - if the weathers good, think I have a shot!

I entered 2:45 as my expected time. My bib is 6969. I like being in the middle. The first bit is congested, but the rest of the course is open.

Last year I seem to recall they did 2,500 in each corral. If they split it that way there would be 5 corrals as opposed to 6 if there were 2,000 in each wave. This is based on roughly 12,000 registered bibs.

4012- my proof time is 2:12:02 (NYC Half) but I put my expected finish time as 2:20 as I am not going to push my speed on this race. I wonder if they used my predicted time or my proof time for placement.

There must be other factors besides proof of time and predicted time that go into it. I have almost identical numbers as you and I'm bib 2002.

No waiver for me yet :-(
Did everyone who got one have a low bib number? I'm hoping I didn't get it yet because I'm at the back of the pack. Or something...

Got mine. #9012. Put no time on entry so assume that will be the last corral.

It could also be when you have registered. So if person A and B have identical proofs of time and predicted times, but there's only one more spot in a particular corral, they may make the decision based on who registered first. I don't know, I may be oversimplifying it, but to me it seems like the easiest determination.

I entered 2:45 on my registration as well & got bib 7009 (pretty close) so I suspect that is the main factor in their placement. Based on my training runs I could probably complete it in 2:30 - 2:35 but its my first half, and its Disney, so I just want to enjoy myself and have enough fuel left in the tank to take in some of the after party too. And with a corral or 2 as buffer, I wont worry that I'll get a muscle cramp or something & get swept if I have to hobble through part of the race.

Thanks. It was "just" 12! Lol Instead of the 14 on the Galloway plan in two weeks, I'll do 13. (I see no need in going over 13!) I'm still trying to figure out my reward for 12. Wish I could have a mickey ice cream. Man, I can wait to eat one. And, a Dole Whip!

That's great that you did 11 two weeks ago. I think you're still going to be able to do the race and get that medal. How are you doing?

I'm doing ok, thanks for asking! I did a very difficult 5 mile run last night. at 4 miles I was like, OMG, I will never get back up in mileage in time for the race, but I managed to finish it. My legs were so tired. I definitely didn't fuel enough, probably because I thought "oh it's just Five miles." Lesson learned. Today, my neck is a little sore though, but I don't know if it's from sitting all day yesterday at work or if it's from the run. The neuro doc I saw today told me that I was fit, active and strong, and I could run as long as it didn't cause me pain. Then he ordered an MRI that he says he can get approval for because he absolutely needs it to diagnose this long-term pain problem I've had. I have PT tomorrow. I'm going to see how I feel after that and after my "short" 3.5 run tomorrow night and I guess decide then whether I can go the distance this time, or throw in the towel and start focusing on say, the Princess Half.

Oh, I am SO knowing what you mean! I went to the ortho about a month ago and found out the pain in my right knee was due to losing cartilage and the start of arthritis. :furious: I was told to back off on my mileage.:lmao: With a month to go until race day? REALLY??!!?? Yeah, right...:hyper:

So now I have a brace I affectionately call "The Contraption" and have learned to make friends with aceteminophen. I'm good up to about 6 miles before it starts getting uncomfortable:(. Then I think about all those Iraqi/Afghan war amputees who are running FULL marathons and tell myself to suck it up. A little pain isn't going to kill me!:faint:

About 3 years ago I was told that I had the start of arthritis as well. An amount that was "normal for my age" (i'm 34)??? I was dealing with major patellar tendonitis which then caused other leg problems. Aleve, taping, a brace, etc. all helped. Ironically, running now helps my knees, but I have learned that shortening and slowing my stride keeps my legs strong and my knees pain free. I also do my PT exercises faithfully to keep my quads strong. Strong quads and hips help your knees SO much. And if it hurts after a run, icing it helps too.

No clue how they decided - I finished in front of my husband at Tink and registered before I registered him for this race but he is 5856 & I am 5884. We estimated 2:45 for both of us, and ran the Tink from corral C at 2:52 with a couple of bathroom breaks.
