Forgive me if this has been brought up already...but I'm a bit confused by something.
I went to disneyworld.com and check resort rates for ASMu for four nights (11/8-11/12). The total came to $463. The Wine & Dine page mentions "specially priced hotel rooms"...and lists the All Star resorts as "starting as low as $121 per person for a two night stay." For two people for four nights, this would be $484. Am I missing something? It lists them as packages, but there's nothing mentioned about what is included in this package except for the room and the transportation to/from the weekend events. It couldn't be tickets, because we have a separate link to purchase discounted tickets. So again, am I missing something? Are their "specially priced rooms" actually a bit more expensive than just booking it through disneyworld.com? It's quite possible I'm overlooking something as I'm rather bleary eyed.
Standard is fine with me and that's what I checked on the Disney site. I already did my registration online yesterday so I did pay the processing fee, but $10 wasn't a make it or break it deal to me...not when registration is already $155. I know the tickets are real money savers...I bought a 2 day park hopper last year using the special link and paid about $130 (tax included)...ordering the same ticket through the Disney site is $223 pre-tax. Right now I'm just interested in room only since I'm not sure what ticket I'll be needing/getting. I can always order those later. I guess my thing was just how their "specially priced rooms" wound up being more expensive than a standard room at rack rate. But you mentioned the mini golf, so I see where that extra cost comes in. I'm curious about this "keepsake" for staying four nights, but don't know if I'm curious enough to pay a bit more for the room.I had booked a preferred room 2 nights (AAA rate) at ASMov with Disney for a total $254. When I called, the package for me for 2 nights was $251 for a standard room and included a round of mini-golf and transportation to events. I stuck with my original booking through Disney.
The agent informed me they only have STANDARD rooms available for the rates. However, you DO NOT have to pay the processing fees if you book the 1/2 marathon registration with your package (it is a $10 proc fee with active.com). You can't book the 5k or kids races with them. And, you are held to stricter cancellation policies as is typical with a package versus room only.
To add, he did say that booking tickets into your package was where you save the money. I want to say he said 40%, but don't quote me on that because I didnt need tickets and wasn't really focused.
I need to wait for a couple of days for a few things to fall into place before I register. So, I am a little concerned about the race filling up. In the past, the Disney registration page would indicate what percentage of the registration had been filled (45%, 80%, etc.). I don't see that on the official page anymore, although admittedly it has been a couple of years since I have run a Disney event, so maybe they don't feature that anymore? Does anyone see that info for the Food & Wine somewhere?
All signed up for this one! This race was my very first half ever so I am kinda partial to it. It will also be the final "hoorah" for me since I am on a mission to participate in every Disney race this year! 3 down, 4 to go!

Wow! That's an impressive accomplishment!
I'm planning to join you all for this event. I'm a total noob. Just went and got fitted for a pair of running shoes over the weekend. I've got to pick up some other training gear and am planning to start training using the Jeff Galloway programs next Tuesday.
My husband started running last year, participated in the Run For Your Lives 5K in Baltimore and is going to run another 5K next month.
He found a 5K for us to run in June or July. We'll see how that goes!![]()
We've all been where you are deciding to give this running thing a try. It may not always be easy or fun but you will learn so much about yourself and what you are capable of doing -- you will be amazed!
And a Disney race really is a lot of fun!
