Hello All! I have not written in a while, but wanted to ask about Pasta in the Park. Is it going to be Friday night?

Posted again: Pasta in the Park confirmed!

I contacted ESPN WWoS and spoke with Devin. He said that tickets should go on sale mid September on their website (same as registration) for the Pasta in the Park tickets. No price has yet been determined, but he anticipates it will be along the same range as the others. He also speculated it would be on Friday as there is a 5k and kid competition on Saturday morning.

The January 2012 Pasta in the Park is the day before their 5k race, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 at EPCOT and is $47.50 for adults and $28.35 for kids. They advertise that admission prior to 6:30 would require a Park ticket. However, I know with the MNSSHP gates at the MK are supposed to open at 7pm, but admission is granted as early as 4pm.

Hope this helps anyone!

I *think* you should be okay. I'm trying to remember when I finished last year- I think it was around 9-ish. At that point, they were not running buses to Epcot b/c the front part of Epcot was part of the course and still crowded with people. I had to go through Epcot and get a boat back to the Swan. It was very confusing - a cast member near the finish line told me the buses were running up front. I hoofed it to the front to be told that the buses weren't running at all yet. Went through to get a boat, stopped by a cast member who told me I couldn't go through World Showcase b/c it wasn't open yet. I got by her, went through and caught the boat! Made it to my room with only 15 minutes before my massage!!! Maybe others on the board can confirm what time they started getting buses and where last year.

thanks Amy! I wonder if I should just monorail back to contemporary, shower and then cab it to SSR???????

ok forget it. Just changed my massage to 2pm at SSR and made lunch reservations at Turf Club before. Now I dont have to race around so much.... So excited!

Turf Club has a great Burger! And the best blackberry lemonade or ice tea, can't remember which base drink it is.

Yay for training plans! :)

Anyone else's face turn into a tomato when they run? I get to about the 20 minute mark and my face is BURNING. I have no idea how to prevent it! We have some treadmills at my gym that have fans, so I've started using those, but it was really bad today. Anyone else have this problem?

Oh YES!! Always, and stays that way for at least an hour after the run is finished! I always tell people that as long as my face is red, I'm fine - if my face is white, I'm in trouble! Some of us are just made that way, I guess.

Yeah me too! But my face turns red during any workout, you should see me after an invigorating Zumba!! I feel like I look like a magenta crayon lol!! Luckily it fades to a carnation pink crayon shade after cooling down a bit :goodvibes

I am also in the "red face" camp. I have had aerobics instructors stop the class before just to ask me if I was okay. Rather embarrassing!

Yes to the staying red/pink for an hour or so after vigorous exercise, too.

I've never really noticed my face being red, but I usually drive to run at a trail and don't look at myself in the mirror right after I finish. I have had people ask me if I was doing Ok during several races. I always thought they were being considerate, but perhaps I'm in the red faced club and they were actually concerned...:rotfl:

I am so glad I am not alone! Thanks ladies! If we see each other on the race route, I will jokingly ask if you are all "okay"! :D

Mine lasts a while too. I always see people who work at the gym looking at me..I know they are hoping I don't pass out!

I wish I could get past this 30 minute wall I've hit. I want to be able to finish a 10k by the end of November--and be able to do it in under 1:15...but I'm starting to doubt myself (I know...that's bad!) When I use one of those running/walking calculators and I see how fast I have to run in order to use intervals and still make a 10:00 mile, I have no idea how I will do it!

I just checked out your blog and had to tell you!

I read your first post and I know exactly how you will. I was short and scrawny, always picked last in gym class, always got hit in the face with the dodge ball, etc. There was one time (and I'll NEVER forget this) that the best dodge ball player in our class threw a ball so hard in my direction and I reached out and caught it and got him out--highlight of my grade school years!

I too am like you, I do countdown until I am done running but love the feeling afterward. I found a bunch of plans and they assumed you could run 30 minutes! It was difficult to find one I liked.

Just wanted to share how alike we were! :)

If you are training outside, you should take into account that the heat takes a toll on your pace. If you aren't running intervals already, start them. I found them to be a huge help for me to build my endurance. I just ran my first marathon last week, and without intervals (and a lot of walking the last few miles :rotfl:) There is no way I could have finished. It seems weird to take walk breaks to become a faster runner, but if you do the intervals correctly, you'll actually end up faster and will last longer on runs. If you are trying to increase your distance, add 10% of the distance to your long run each week. IE: if you are running 2 miles now, run 2.2 miles the next week, 2.4 the following weeks, 2.6 -2.7 the week after, etc. Building your mileage too quickly could also be a reason for hitting the wall.

I am still using the treadmill. :(

When I did my 5k training, I did intervals. I was trying to prove to myself that I could actually run 3 miles straight (and got fixed on that) so just started straight running after I finished the training and that's where I'm still at today.

At this point, I really want to increase my speed and then my distance, but I've learned from everyone here that I need to focus on the other way around. :)

Thanks for checking in! I'm not kidding - if it wasn't for Disney World and being a Princess, I don't know if I would have stuck with it!!! And now, I continue to run b/c I made such a big deal over running a half marathon that I cringe at the thought of someone, a year or two from now say, "Hey - weren't you a runner? What happened to that?!"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is so me too. over weight, always picked last if not picked at all. and I do would never be where I am now if it were not for DIS and the princess.
Running that race this year changed my life..

Sorry I have not checked in, in a while. I am still benched with my foot/ankle. Its a small tear/strain of a tendon. REST for 1 more week then I get to try to ellitical if I have no pain after a week of that then I can run. I have a half in 8 weeks I am not sure if I can make it for that. I don't want to make it worse and then miss the princess.

Have good long runs this weekend everyone!!!

WOOHOO!!! Just booked at Animal Kingdom Kidani Village through point rental! I'm SO excited!! Gotta keep training... gotta keep training... gotta keep training... I'll never be anything remotely resembling fast but at my age it's just good to still be able to run, and Disney Princess is at the very top of my bucket list!

It's been along day and I'm a bit fuzzy after dinner, but isn't there a Facebook page for us and if so can anyone send me the link or address for it? Thanks!

Yay for AKV! I'm surprised that there is still availability that weekend since it is a host resort and DVC. I know there are several of us staying there that weekend, we'll have to meet up before the race!

:woohoo: Got our vacay booked too!! My aunt went up to AAA and got the ball rolling, Poly for us!!! This weekend I'll be registering officially for the Princess!! YAY!!!

Just wanted to share about the article on Frank Shorter in this month's Runner's World. UH-mazing! If you are not familiar, Frank Shorter won the Olympic gold for the marathon in '72 and is pretty much considered the "father" of the "modern running boom" - I've got one of his books for beginners and I have enjoyed it. Anyway, for the first time, he is really detailing the abuse he and his 10 siblings rec'd at the hands of their father - a small town doctor who was idolized by the town. He started running as an emotional escape. Great, great article. You might be able to view it online, if you can't find the actual mag.

Oh - and GOOD LUCK to any of our coast-coast princesses doing the DL half this weekend!!!! Can't wait to hear about it!
