WE HOMESCHOOL, TOO!!! I can so relate!! Then you understand how tough it is to get away for those training runs, don't you?! So excited to have a fellow homeschool mom-of-6 doing this race!! Have you been running long?? Will this be your 1st half-marathon?? Keep it up!!

I did the Princess half last year. It was my first time to train for a race of any kind. I did a 5k and 10k in preparation. My goal was to train without injury and finish the race. This year I want to push myself so I can take pictures along the route.

Where is the stone therapy massage located at? Does anybody recommend going off the property for a massage???

I got my massage at the Mandara Spa in the Dolphin.

While not all resorts have spas, I think most deluxes (and CSR) have spa services. On a trip to the WL I got a massage in a room off of the fitness center.

Okay, right now I am doing the 5k plan for the Halloween 5k and then will switch to the Galloway plan for the Princess. What do you guys do if there is a weekend you know you can't do a long run? My husband and I always go to the Rolex 24 at Daytona the last weekend in January. We are literally there from Friday night to Sunday night, even sleeping on the infield. There is a 5k before the race, which DH is very excited about doing because it means he can run the entire Daytona track with me (he's slightly obsessed with all things racing). Should I start a week or too early to make it match up so there is a 3 mi run that day, or use the 5k in place of a 30 min run and do the long run on the Monday or Tuesday after? If I start early, what should I add the last week before the princess half?

I would use the 5K in place of a 30 minute run that week and run the long run on a different day of the week. Most of my long runs will have to be on Wednesday because my older two kids are in school and the youngest one is in daycare and that's my day off. Long runs on weekends is just not good with my schedule.

I constantly had to move my runs around during my week to fit into my schedule. If you can arrange your schedule to get the LR in on another day, that's great, if not don't sweat it. One missed run won't kill your training, just try not to skip them all...:rotfl:

So glad I am not the only one that loves this song! hahahahaha! My BF and I sing it out of the blue all the time for no reason...that has to be one of the best commericals ever made! We think Target should do a whole campaign just around him...kind of like with Progressive Insurance and Flo :)

:yay: I love him so much! That would be awesome if they would keep him on, he just cracks me up so much!! Target's marketing is great this year!!

I've had that song in my head for days from my husband singing it constantly when we were at Target this weekend. I thought it was gone. Now it's back. Thanks. :)

"Denim! Graphic tees, leggings and tunics!"

DENIM! It was playing in Target last week and I had it in my head until day before yesterday...until I read this thread and now it's back! EARWORM city....and DENIM!

Hello All! I have not written in a while, but wanted to ask about Pasta in the Park. Is it going to be Friday night? We won't fly into Orlando till about 7:30 so I doubt we will actually be at WDW until 8:30-9. After traveling all day with three kids, I seriously doubt we would be up for much besides getting settled in the hotel that night. If the Pasta in the Park party was going to be Saturday night, I might switch our reservation to do that. However, our kids are 11, 13 and 14 so $47 a plate is pretty steep. Is it a lot of fun? Do they do something more at Pasta in the Park than just dinner?

We are staying at the Polynesian, and I made dining reservations at Tony's Town Square at the MK Saturday night, Ohana's at Poly Sunday night and Liberty Tavern Tues. We are not leaving till Wednesday. I figured we could do quick service dining on Monday night.

Solo runner here too - all my friends who are runners run much faster than I can! Actually I prefer the treadmill, I get more in my zone on the treadmill. I save outside runs for the 5K and 10K races I get involved in - when I run outside by myself I get really totally bored, but in the races and there is so much energy and other people, I do really well!

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one that only runs outside for races! I get so distracted with everything outside that I just can't focus on running. Plus, there's always the fact that with a treadmill you don't have to worry about figuring out a route or quitting to far from home (oh, wait, is that just me?).

Yay for training plans! :)

Anyone else's face turn into a tomato when they run? I get to about the 20 minute mark and my face is BURNING. I have no idea how to prevent it! We have some treadmills at my gym that have fans, so I've started using those, but it was really bad today. Anyone else have this problem?

I get red faced, not really any huff or puff just a red face.

Oh my gosh, YES! If you just looked at my face, you would think I was about to keel over and die! Don't know what to do about it; it's making me think twice about running to work this fall (I work at our church preschool that's just a few miles from my house). There's a shower there, but my face will be red for at least 2 hours!!! :headache:

Two things - was on the RunDisney page and I wasn't seeing anything about the Pasta in the Park - where do you look for that?

Also, they have course maps up for the 5K and 1 mile, but the half says "coming soon". Would they be changing the course for any reason? Has it pretty much been the same for the last few years? Just curious!

It was announced on the Run Disney Facebook fan page last week. It said ticket and other information would be coming soon.

Same for me. I like how I know exactly how fast I'm running and for how far. It hasn't been the "dreadmill" for me yet, but I'm at 7 miles currently and that could change as I climb near 10 and 11 miles. It's hotter than Hades here in the summer and it does get rather cold in the winter. The window to run outside in the spring and fall is so short I figured I needed to make friends with the treadmill. I just start my playlist of show tunes and I can get lost in my run :thumbsup2

HI everyone- I booked an hour massage and full facial at SSR at 11am on raceday. My plan is to have the hubby meet me at the finish, hang out a bit, hand me a backpack with new clothes to change into after the spa then take the SSR bus from the race to my spa appt. Do you think timing wise with it being at 11am I will be ok?

I'm planning on just taking a cab back from SSR to Bay Lake.

thanks for any input!

Just looked at the schedule and there is a 10K in my small town that coincides with the 6 mile run on the training plan in November. Yay!

I'm planning on doing the Nick Caldwell Memorial 10k too. I did the 5k last year.

Are you doing the CDR 5k this weekend?

I *think* you should be okay. I'm trying to remember when I finished last year- I think it was around 9-ish. At that point, they were not running buses to Epcot b/c the front part of Epcot was part of the course and still crowded with people. I had to go through Epcot and get a boat back to the Swan. It was very confusing - a cast member near the finish line told me the buses were running up front. I hoofed it to the front to be told that the buses weren't running at all yet. Went through to get a boat, stopped by a cast member who told me I couldn't go through World Showcase b/c it wasn't open yet. I got by her, went through and caught the boat! Made it to my room with only 15 minutes before my massage!!! Maybe others on the board can confirm what time they started getting buses and where last year.

Are you doing the CDR 5k this weekend?

Yep! It'll be my first 5K. I did the 2 mile in Parkersburg a couple weeks ago. Are you near Saint Albans? Nice to meet another Mountain Mama! :)

I'm a little north of Charleston, in Clendenin. But I grew up in South Charleston and Nitro.

I'll be there Sat for the 5k. I did it last year, it was my very first one. I ran it with a friend who no longer runs. It's nice to hear your name announced when you enter Laidley.

I'll see you there. :)

I'd like to do the Wounded Warrior in Ripley Oct 1. I did it last year, too. There are some hills on that course.
