Add me to the list of show tune play list lovers. I had a bunch on my Ipod before it died, and it was great to run to. I used to be a theater person during high school, so I would always think about choreography, or staging for the different songs on my play list and it really helped the miles go by quicker. Now that I use my phone as my music player I have more pop songs on there. Anytime I hear a upbeat song on the radio I download it to my play list, so my music is always changing.

OH wow, you ladies are awesome!! I would **never** have thought of having show tunes on my iPod, but I LOVE the old musicals and show tunes will definitely make the long runs more fun! As for running alone, I prefer it, and run at a local park where there are lots of regular walkers and runners. Hubby goes with me but he's faster so we meet at the car when we're finished. Socks: I tried a pair of Wright Running II socks that I bought at a race expo a couple years ago. No chafing or blisters and I won't run in anything else now. You all have given me so much great info - thank you!!

I have pop songs for my shorter runs, but nothing beats showtunes for long runs. I'm always tweaking my playlist but I have a ton of regulars, then I shuffle the list show I don't know what's coming up next. Most of the time I have one song to start the playlist and right now it's Belle. I gotta have Disney songs while training for a Disney race :)

Good morning, princesses! Had a major setback last week---my running partner decided I was too slow for her and I am now training on my own. Went out on Sunday for my 10 miler and had to bail at 4...horrible blisters and just plain old feeling sorry for myself..:sad1:

Does anyone have some suggestions on how to make long runs alone a little easier? I had my ipod going with some disney podcast episodes to keep me company, but it just wasn't the same...

Thanks for any ideas!

HI! I am another 'lone runner'....I prefer it. I use the meditative run method. I try to stay focused on the run, my breathing, my form, hear the noises around, notice my surroundings; when I get tired, I focus on form and my footsteps. Occ I put on the tunes but find I tend to lose focus on surroundings and joy of being out. Take the time to be with you, count your blessings and enjoy the down time from stress of life!

Solo runner here too - all my friends who are runners run much faster than I can! Actually I prefer the treadmill, I get more in my zone on the treadmill. I save outside runs for the 5K and 10K races I get involved in - when I run outside by myself I get really totally bored, but in the races and there is so much energy and other people, I do really well!

As far as my music... mine's all over the place  Lets' see, Lady Gaga, NSync, Enrique Iglasias, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Destiny's Child, Nami Tamaki (Japanese pop), Daddy Yankee, Zumba music, Will Smith, Nelly, TV theme songs, Disney songs from movies and parks, and even the Target Music Teacher commercial :thumbsup2 That's just a few of my 250+ songs I got loaded on my sad little MP3!!

I love my lululemon No Show Ultimate socks, I love a thin sock, but these have cushioning right where I need them, and they have L/R on them so I never get them on the wrong foot, no matter how asleep I am when I run. Not even a tender spot since I got them.

I'm a solo runner, but I like to lose myself in the running and my music. I get a few good songs on my playlist (I have everything- current hits, 90's pop, 80's... country music, show tunes, Disney...) and I can just run and run and run. I've been running on treadmills lately, but even though those have TVs attached I tend to turn the TV off and just listen to my music and focus on my running.

Chiming in here as the oddball - I am a group runner. Most of my short runs are solo, but all of my long runs in the last year have been with at least one other person, and mostly in a group of 10-30, all doing the same intervals.

For short runs my playlist is Glee, pop/dance music, and 80s music.

I leave for WDW on Saturday, so taking a 2 week break from running. I think it will be okay with the half last weekend.

I usually run solo, but I don't really like being alone (with 6 kids, I'm just not used to it!). But I don't like the stress of trying to keep up with someone or the worry of being too slow for someone. Sometimes the whole family goes to the local middle school track, so everyone can do their own thing. I love that, but it only works for the short runs, of course!

As for music, I am a Disney geek. I love the Disney Mania CDs (remade Disney classics by "current" artists), music from the parks, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, etc. I have preteen girls, so it's obvious they load my ipod for me. :)

My achilles is hurting again, after one day of running.

I looked back at when I got my new shoes (I was keeping track of miles on them) and it seems like this problem flared up when I got the new shoes (at the running store). I'm going to rest it until Sat, I already have a 5k scheduled. I'm going to run in my old shoes and see if I get the same pain.

Maybe these just aren't the right shoes for me?

I prefer to run alone and listen to my music. I mostly have current upbeat stuff and then a lot of 80's music on my iphone.

I have 6 kids too! Running has become my 'me' time and I love it. After years of taking care of others 24/7 (we homeschool) it has been life-changing to take 30 minutes to a couple of hours a day for myself.

My music is all over place...from Disney to Glee. I was watching gymnastics the other day and loved one of the girl's floor routine music. I searched online to find out what it was and now it's one of my faves on my playlist. (300 Violin Orchestra by Jorge Quintero if anyone's interested)

WE HOMESCHOOL, TOO!!! I can so relate!! Then you understand how tough it is to get away for those training runs, don't you?! So excited to have a fellow homeschool mom-of-6 doing this race!! Have you been running long?? Will this be your 1st half-marathon?? Keep it up!!

, and even the Target Music Teacher commercial :thumbsup2

So glad I am not the only one that loves this song! hahahahaha! My BF and I sing it out of the blue all the time for no reason...that has to be one of the best commericals ever made! We think Target should do a whole campaign just around him...kind of like with Progressive Insurance and Flo :)

I was so excited to finally make our dining reservations! We are eating at Yak and Yeti, Le Cellier (celebration dinner!!!), Brown Derby, Plaza Restaurant and Fresh or Kona. All new except for Le Cellier.

As for a massage after the race ~ last year I had a hot stone therapy massage and it was awesome! I thought it helped in my recovery. I went in sore and tired and came out very refreshed and not sore at all. I can't wait to do it again this year.

Where is the stone therapy massage located at? Does anybody recommend going off the property for a massage???

Best of luck to all those participating in the DL Half this weekend...:yay:

Reminder the Grand Floridan Spa is closed for reno and will be until sometime in 2012. I know there is a spa at SSR, one reason why I booked there.

The Galloway training plans are up for the Princess Half! I can't post the link, though.

Just looked at the schedule and there is a 10K in my small town that coincides with the 6 mile run on the training plan in November. Yay!

Me too, awesome, it is a Snowflake run and up here it could be snowing, lol. I love that we are encouraged to bring toys for kids at this one.
