Yes, Julie, we have discussed the dark hair girl problem. FYI this is, Julianna. :)

And I too have toyed with the idea of Rapunzel post hair cut (only thing is I have long hair :headache:) And I'm such a dork about costumes I want to be super cute and not have to explain who I am AND the costume be functional. hahaha And it doesn't help that I love Jasmine, Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle, Mulan and Jane. :rolleyes: hahaha

Y'all are crackin' me up! Plenty of time, ladies. Although I WAS mad at myself for not getting things together in time to complete my Tink look. I had already decided I was not doing wings and risking the super annoyance factor, but I had wanted to make little things to cover my running shoes with a big white pom-pom on them so they would look like Tink's little slippers. Ran out of time, so I ended up just being a chick wearing a green shirt and a foofy green skirt. Grrr...

New to the W.I.S.H. Forum here....

But thanks to the wonderful thing called Peer Pressure, I am hoping to run the Princess 1/2 next year! All of my pressuring peers are planning to do the full in January, so I don't think they will be up to running a 1/2 a month later with me.

My BF and I started training before summer started. But I refuse to run outside in the Florida summers (yuck!) so I am trying to do Insanity workouts to get myself in shape and will probably start up running in September.

I am hoping that my family follows through, my stepmom and stepsisters all promised to come down and run this race with me (they live in Utah).

I am excited, and very nervous for this!

One of the ladies from my running group was going to run the 1/2 marathon with me and I got the news yesterday that she is not going because of a change of family situation :worried: So now I am going to be there solo. Has anyone done that? Are there going to be meets during that time?

Apologies in advance to starting a little RVA slightly off topic info.

Thanks for the info about lululemon! My trainer also recommended Three Sports (one location in the city and one in Short Pump). I'm heading to both places tomorrow while the kids are in camp. :thumbsup2

As far as running locations, currently, other than the gym, I run on the track in Byrd Park by the entrance to Maymont. It is soft gravel which is much easier on my knees than the street. Plus it is very well shaded by huge trees.

:cheer2::cheer2: Go RICHMOND Princesses!:cheer2::cheer2:
:banana::banana::banana: AND EVERYONE ELSE!!!:banana::banana::banana:

There are lots of people who go solo... I know there is one more lady on here who has mentioned (recently) she's coming solo. I'm running solo but hubby is coming with me; we are having an early anniversary trip. :cloud9: And lots of us have also planned on meeting up. You might come alone but you won't be alone. :grouphug:

Just run in the morning or late at night, that's what I have to do with the florida weather, though sometimes I just run anyways. It will slow you down, but its a great workout and helps once in cooler weather. Also, you may never know, your friends may want to run this, if not, its still a fun race.

Last year as some of you here know, I wore a pink princess costume, and I feel it held me back a little. So some advice, don't wear something really tight like i did, especially around the stomach. Do make sure you are comfortable and try to incorporate running clothes somehow. Try running in your costume a couple times to know how it feels. Try not to put more weight of clothes on your body as it may get warm during the race. Lastly, make sure to have fun cause if your dressing in costume, im fairly certain your not trying to win.

Lastly, i decided to not do this race in 2012, i am gonna wait for the 5th anniversary race and will do it as Aurora. This is a fun race, just doing goofy and miami both in January, I decided to hold off and possible do sarasota in march.

I'm not a costume person, but I'm thinking of getting a good blue running shirt in homage to Belle. If I get the right color blue, the yellow bib will pop out :) By default my sweaty band will be the USA flag. I wear that one the most and am too afraid to switch things up. It's kind of my good luck charm.

I'm in. Registered and booked my stay at AKL lodge. Going solo. I wish there was a discount for solo travelers. The room discount is based on double occupency so my room all by my sweet little self is running me about $1100:eek: for 3 nights. Trying not to fret, this trip is me time and I think we all deserve a little splurge on ourselves every now and then. Plus I've never stayed at AKL so that will be totally cool:cool1:

I don't think those rates are much of a discount - if any at all. I would keep checking to see if you can get a better rate.

I will be traveling with my mom but running solo. Last year I went with my sister-in-law and we ran separately because she is faster than me. I loved the race (obviously since I'm doing it again), but I did feel a little lonely at times. I'll be running it alone again this year, but I'm trying to talk my sis-in-law into doing it again. We would run together this time...that was our only regret from last time.

Thank you for the encouragement :goodvibes I guess the change in plan just threw me off. I look forward to meeting some of you there:banana:

I'll be going solo too! I only ever have company on night races, otherwise my running buddies are too lazy to get up early enough for morning races. I don't mind. It's a great way to meet new people :goodvibes

I agree with everyone else that you wont be alone. I am going with 3 other ladies and they are way faser than me!! So I will be running solo. I always find that one runner and we encourage each other to the end. I am looking forward to meeting many of my disboard girlfriends!

Thank you everyone for your encouragement! (I still can't figure out how to do "multiple quoting"). I was looking forward to have my running buddy there since she is a disney geek too and I am looking forward to going on rides with her (it's my first time going without my kids;)) I guess for a change I'll have the bathroom all by myself :rotfl2:

I had my best run yet today! :cool1: Completed 6.26 miles with an average pace of 10:57/mile (I'm looking for distance, not speed). I've been doing the Bridge to 10K program, and will start the last few runs later this week. I need to find a 1/2 marathon training app to move onto next.

I have a question for all the veteran Princesses out there...how exactly do the sweepers work? Do they start after the last person in the last corrall crosses the starting line, or do they start when the last person in each corrall crosses the starting line (which I can only imagine would be a logistical nightmare to track ppl). If you are falling behind, do they give you a warning, or do they just scoop you up and drag you into their van like a kidnapping? Will they cut you some slack if you cry? ;) The sad van is my biggest fear...I'm not looking to win, I just want to finish and cross the finish line on my own two feet.

This past princess was my first solo trip and I was super nervous about it. I'd only ever done Disney with my family. But I have to tell you... IT WAS AWWWEEEESSSSSOOOOMMMMMEEEE! It was so freeing being able to do what I wanted whenever I wanted to, eat where ever I wanted and go to which ever park I was in the mood for. I thought it might suck not having family to cheer me on during the race, but the crowd was so awesome it made me feel like they were cheering for me too! You are going to love it I promise!!:lovestruc

They start the 3:30 finish time clock when the last person in the last corral crosses the start line. You have a warning - you will see the end of the line if you are in danger at all.

However, f you can already do over 6 miles at an 11 minute pace? You don't need to worry about the sweepers.

My sister and I are thinking of doing this race again. Our first was the 2011 princess - it was our first half as well. I hurt my foot training for the Princess and now have to see if I can get some miles on it before we decide.

i do end up going, i'm 90% sure i'll be running solo. i'll probably come down with just my boyfriend and he will definitely NOT be running. i doubt he'll even come to the finish line...with the earlier start this year i'll be done before 8...and let's be honest, he won't even be awake by then :lmao:

it sounds like there are tons of people who will be in the same boat so if you will like, you can def find someone to start with and maybe even pace with

I'm so excited. I just booked my room at Saratoga Springs for the half marathon. :banana: I too will be running solo. Hope to meet up with some of you ladies. DH and the kids are coming for the trip. Probably DH will meet me at the finish. My mom and dad are in Florida for the winter. They said they will come up to cheer me on, or stay with the kiddos so we don't have to wake them up crazy early.

Now I just have to wait for the 18th to register. Just waiting for the next billing cycle for the credit card.:rolleyes1

I'm booked right now solo, but am trying to find someone to go with me still. I ran the race solo last year, and had so much fun! I was jealous a little when I passed groups that looked like they were having a blast, but when I also passed groups that were walking because one person was hurting, it made up for my jealousy. I prefer to run solo and take races at my own pace.
