Another time-saving strategy: If you know you will need a potty break halfway, try to hold it until you're inside the Magic Kingdom and stop in the restrooms in Tomorrowland on the left just after your first left turn under the PeopleMover; or the one on the left in Frontierland just after the Diamond Horseshoe.

Those are large real restrooms very close to the course and are unlikely to be backed up with lines, unlike the portapotties along the roads.

Just zip in and zip out of those, no waiting, no delays!

(Also plan your fluid intake according to your sweat rate/weather that day so you won't overhydrate and require excess stops!)
Great tip! I will try and remember that about the real restrooms.

Need a little help from those experienced runners. I haven't ran in 2 weeks b/c I found out I was pg. My doctor okayed me running and doing my galloway training. He said my 10k on tday and the princess were all fine to do. Well I just couldn't run until I saw that little heartbeat today and now I'm ready to go.

My question would you run 3-4 miles today or just play it by ear? I haven't taken this long of a break since starting to run back in february.

Sorry I havent' been on in a while either. Everyone is doing awesome with their training.

I would do a shorter run first. A few of the 30 minute weekday runs and work your way back up. I think the idea of a heartrate monitor while pg is a great idea too.

Well I finally registered for the Princess a few days ago! No backing out now! Longest run was 7 miles way back before my 10k mid Sept. Today was back up to 6 following the Galloway plan. Felt good, but unfortunately too cold and windy for me, so it was on the treadmill.

Wow - I need to just about memorize this page! :) Lots of helpful information, especially on pacing ourselves through the race for characters and restrooms.

I just did 11 miles last night in just under 2 1/2 hours, and am thinking I need to turn in a slightly shorter time than I did initially - I initially put in the maximum amount of time, since I didn't think I could ever go faster than that.

UMMM Congrats!!!! Another lucky kid with you as his or her mama and A as the daddy! So happy for you guys!

Thanks for those tips.. I also need to bookmark this page! So much useful info.

I have one more coral ?.. I posted my time based on a couple 10ks I ran. My question is how to I send proof?? At the time of registration I filled in the names of the 2 races and the times i got in the section that asked for it. Is that proof enough or do I have to get something else to send in?

Thanks Julie! It's going to be a wild and crazy house. The due date is june 29th so my c/s will be that week. Bailey will barely be 3 and Bryce will be 20 months. I might be this :scared1: when it's all said and done

Last year when I emailed I included the URL with the race results and I also said something like " my race number was xxxx" so they could see me. Necessary, I doubt it, but hey in case they spot checked my results, made it easy for them.

I can't believe they actually look up race results for anyone except perhaps the 10-20 top-seeded elite runners. Very time-consuming with very little payoff for that!

I wasn't very detailed with my proof that I submitted. I just put the time and the race. Who knows if they actually check all the proofs of time or not. I

That's what I did too. I just looked at the instructions and it says to give the name and location of the race and your time. That's what I did at registration so I think I'll leave it at that.

I emailed them after my 10k back in september. I just did what it says online - race number, year, time. I would highly doubt they look up the race results for every single person. That would be a lot of time.

I ran 2.5 miles last night in 30 minutes. I took it slow and easy and it felt great! I now have to go buy some running pants b/c the ones I have push my c-section incision to much and makes it a little sore.

If you put the name of the race and your time... You are good to go

Great.. I should be all set then, Thanks !!

Just ran a local 5k this am. 30:07 (good time for me) I felt great.. But adding another 10 miles to that still seems like a long long way off for me. Sticking to the training plan though. I'm doing the one from the disney site and I just bought his book too. I love reading and reading about these things! A little OCD can't hurt right? Haha

Beautiful out there today!! Gotta take advantage before I'm stuck on the TM due to weather!!

Have a great weekend everyone.. Good luck on your runs :goodvibes

I did it, I'm halfway there! (I consider it halfway, lol) I did my 6 miles this morning in 1:18, YEAH!! You guys are doing amazing on your runs. Thanks Coach for all the wonderful advice you give us, and where to take all the potty breaks along the way really help too :) My knee has been giving me alot of problems since I bought these new shoes, it did start before I bought them but since I've been running in them it's gotten worse. I decided to try and take out the inserts and I haven't had any problems since!! I guess I can use them on my regular shoes?! Have a great weekend everyone :)

Did my 10k this morning 1:27ish more than a little disappointed, but at least I did it. There were a TON of hills though! We even had to run up into a mountain! Wondering if it's worth sending in the result? I don't remember the time i submitted to disney originally.

Not really.... It really needs to be a 1:14 or better to improve positioning. a 1:14 is roughly equivalent to the 2:45 time where proof starts to be required. I am under the belief that while proofs slower than the above are accepted, they more than likely do nothing to your corral.

Hang in there. Hills can and will slow you up - but they really improve speed in the long run. A 1:27 so not all that bad and depending on the severity of the hills, could easily be equated to a run time 5-10 minutes faster. Keep training and you will soon be at Disney

Also, your hills today will help in the Princess... While I would call the course flat, there are a couple hills you should know. The first one of note is the Seven Seas Water Bridge around mile 4.5. It by far is the most severe hill on the course. It is a reverse hill --- one where you go down first then up. The slope is maybe 10% for about an eighth mile. Just chug up the hill then recover as about 3/4 mile later you are on Main Street USA. The other 'hills' are miles 10 through 12. These are a series of 3 overpasses. The first is the cloverleaf exit from World Drive to Epcot Dr. It is sloped right for 45 mph traffic, so it can feel a little tough on the ankles. Through the 270 degree turn you are climbing up to overpass height. From there it is down to almost ground level and a climb back up over an overpass. Then down as you pass by the Epcot drive parking lot entrance. The final of the three hills is a sharp right turn then up a bus exit hill. Of the three overpass hills, this is the steepest. Again, there are really overpasses and not that bad. Just remember... Of the three final hills, you ran over the first two of these in the first mile and a half early in the race. I don't list them at the front of the race because no one really feels them.

Is anyone planning on getting one of the commemorative shadow boxes or whatnot?

They look pretty cool.

I've gotten the frames before. I got one for the 2010 Disneyland Half, which was my first and then I got one for completing the coast to coast challenge. I like them and they reprint your bib and give you new medals for it.

I would also wait and see how your pictures look before you decide. I mean I had some questionable pictures, but luckily my dad took some extra for me and so we were also able to use some of those.

The WV girls ran the 10K today! I had a great time with Marty (mountaineer), Lauren (Namsupuk) and Amy. As soon as I figure out how, I'll post our picture! Marty placed in her age group! Woohoo!
My chip time was 1:14:45! I'm pretty pleased with that for my first 10K. :)

Congratulations to all those who had a race this weekend. I also ran my first 10k race today in St. Augustine, Fl. The course was mostly flat though we did cross the Bridge of Lions twice. I ran a time of 56.28 and placed second in my age group- it was a fairly small first year race. My question for you all is this: What are my chances of getting a corral that is too fast for me? I never expected to run a 56.28 now I'm afraid I wont be able to keep up with others in my corral.
