Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

I went to these (copy and paste to find)
http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-T84NW.html

while training for my first full marathon (completed at WDW last week). They are thick and comfy. They are pricey, but in my opinion worth it. I tend to be cheap (buy the 3 sock bundle for $10 or so), but with all the miles I needed more around my feet. Don't forget the wish code for discount if you decide to buy.

Thanks! I'm going to give them a shot. The balls of my feet tend to hurt toward the later miles so I am hoping this takes some pressure off!

Stitchfan18, you are quite brave to have a picture taken with the Bear. He didn't want you to carry him to the finish, did he?

Has anyone had any issues logging on to the active.com site to view your registration details? I've tried clicking on the link in the confirmation email I received when I registered, but after I log in it says I'm not authorized to view this registration??

I'm trying to contact active.com's support, but not having much luck.

Well, I got it taken care of! Apparently, when I registered I was not logged into my active.com account and that's why it was not showing up. They just emailed me a copy of all the details.

Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else was having the same problem. :)

So who is signing up for DL 1/2 today? Does it offer a discount on the DL hotels and tickets as well? I plan on doing it I just want to hold off and register after the Princess and make sure that I finish it before going for the coast 2 coast.

Anyone know when they start sending out bib numbers?

By the way, I did 3 miles on the treadmill yesterday, first time I have climbed on one in 12 months.... I just cant do it!! I did 10 miles a few days ago out on the road, with no aches or pains but after 3 on the TM my hip and knee were killing me. Obviously I'm striking differently or something. Think I will stick to the roads and the rain!

:worship: to those that have done their training on TM's!!

Dig Deep we are getting close!!!!!
Michele

Did anyone find compression socks with a "pretty" design. I have only found plain ones...I don't plan on wearing them during my run, just after for recovery

PRmamiDEdos - have you iced your hip after running? I've had hip issues for years and I take an ibuprofen before running, then ice it when I get back and that helps. In addition to STRETCHING before and after. There are some good stretches out there for your hips.

I usually take Aleve before a run. The day I decided to be cute and run at an incline, I forgot to take it. I've been taking Celebrex for a few days and the pain has really gone down. This morning before my run, I popped in my p90x Kenpo disc just so I could do the warm-up and stretching. I got a little crampy in my hamstring while running but it worked itself out, but I think the Kenpo stretching really did a good job.

I have the same problem on a TM. I did my 9 mile run on one and for some reason my knee hurt much more after that. I think I must be hitting differently too. I think I will stick to only doing short runs on a TM. Well, that is unless I *have* to like when traveling or something.

Kudos to those of you that do or have to use a TM :thumbsup2

Great pictures!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! WHen will your Etsy store be open again? I can't wait to browse your stuff!
I'm working on stuff right now. I just got back from Disney earlier this week, so hopefully soon!

great blog, i really enjoyed it. I loved your pictures!! made things sooo interesting.

I did the Wine and Dine the first year and was so worried about time and I was by myself and my first run, I took NO pictures!! I was disappointed when I got home. This run I plan on taking more shots.. even if it does slow me down.. I am there for the experience!:woohoo:
I was glad that my first 1/2 wasn't at Disney so I could really enjoy the experience. I was a little panicked at first when I saw how much the picture stops were killing my time, but I quickly reminded myself that I didn't sign up for this race to get a PR, but to have fun!

Which bear? Duffy or the Country Bear? Both were no wait pictures so I literally stopped for less than 10 seconds, not really much character interaction like you get in the parks on a normal day. There was one person running the marathon that carried her autograph book with her. I was glad to quickly pass her and not have to wait for her to get her autographs at every character stop. Not the best time for that!

I have the runningskirt brand socks as well. I like them okay, but I have larger calves and am tall so they don't go all the way to my knee as I like my compression socks to. I have some hot pink recovery sock brand compression socks that I really like.

The Country Bear, Liver Lips McGrowl. I remember the old course hit the Country Bears at mile 11. Talk about the bear(s) waiting for you.

Ah yes, I remember you saying you had a Rx for Celebrex. Glad to hear it's working well for you!

I am sooo jealous about you all. You all are doing very well in your training and whether you walk or run, you'll do great! You all deserve congratulations for coming just this far so far! :cheer2:

On another note, we had VICTORY at our house this week. My DS4 finally reached 40" and is crazy excited. :yay: He talks non stop about Soarin, Test Track, Splash Mountain, etc!!

I will confess--I am not a member of the TOM this week.

I was on bedrest with my DD now age 5 from July to November......it was hard sitting around all day, but you have to do what you have to do! Enjoy your movies........

My DD is tall and is DYING to ride Rock N Roll Roller Coaster.....she has ridden everything she is tall enough to get on, with the exception of Space Mountain as I would feel more comfortable with someone sitting next to her if she freaked out! BUT she is no 1/4 shy of that milestone for RNR, so she is so happy that our next trip to the world she will get to ride.....which she will not be with me Princess Weekend! I can totally relate to this one!

Hey Julie, we were on bedrest for pretty much the same time! I was on bedrest from August-November of 2006. My twins are 5 too :-) Who knew that five years later we would be kicking butt and running a half marathon!:cool1:

Wahoo Bedrest Buddies! Fun times when I was SO sick of broccoli slaw with ranch.....my husband loved to make that one. ;-) I was working from home though - mainly updating documents and conference calls, so I was thankfully busy during the day. And thanks to my DD I have lots of tiara's to choose from!

I'm trying to work out my schedule and I have a question. DD is running the 1K on Saturday at 11 AM. Do you think it's possible for me to pick up her running packet that morning or should I just do it the night before?

I think we are driving in that morning (from Tampa) for our 1st day and my kids are doing the races too, so if you wait until then you won't be alone in the slack department. ;)
