Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Haven't checked in for a bit because my running schedule has been off. I found out last week that I'm pregnant. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow. So I have some questions that I'm hoping you ladies can help me with. I'm actually having a pretty symptom free pregnancy so far. Just extra fatigue. I've checked several places and saw that the keep heart rate under 140 is an old school thought and now they say as long as you don't let yourself get overheated then your ok. Thoughts? For me to stay under 140 I'll pretty much have to walk the whole thing because I usually hover around 165.

Got a Garmin 405 so I can keep track of my heart rate. I was doing my 3 miles last week though and after 2 miles the monitor started to make me nauseous. Any advice about that?

Should I just try to focus on getting my walking speed up to walk this whole thing?

Thanks so much for any advice you all have. I just started running in Oct and didn't run at all with my last pregnancy so I'm a little nervous.

I ordered my park tickets!!!:banana::banana:

Question about packet pick-up at the Expo...
I am running with a whole group of women. Two of us get in early on Friday and were hoping to go to the Expo and pick up race packets/number for the whole group. If the other ladies send us a copy of their drivers licenses and their signed release forms we can do this right?!?! Just trying to save everyone some time.

They need to send you the waiver and the release form stating who they are allowing to pick up their packet.

Well, I don't have any advice, but I definitely wanted to offer congrats! What wonderful news! I know there was at least one person on this board last year who walked it very pregnant - Longhorns, was her disboard name, I think? Anyway, congrats!

STITCHFAN! I've been waiting to hear how your goofy experience went! Is a blog entry up yet?!?!

1. Congrats!!!

2. As knowledgable and some people on here are, I would ask a doctor. It depends on several factors like how long you've been running, how high risk the pregnancy is, etc.

3. Having said that, I have seen women with "Baby's First 13.1" shirts who were running full speed.

Happy Monday...I posted this on the FB group, but thought I would share here as well. While it mentions running as a metaphor, still applies to us all for the race and well in not so pleasant or hard life times....which many of you are facing so bravely and inspiring us all.

“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

AND For those considering running as Tink......came across this
"http://www.according-to-kelly.com/2012/01/how-to-wear-wings-while-running/"

STITCHFAN......I have also been stalking your blog to see how your Goofy went!

AND update, my knee is a little sore from the run/twist yesterday, but everything else is good.....oh still the nagging ever present tightness in my ankle...stupid tendonitis, but NO other pain after that long run yesterday. WOOT WOOT!:banana::banana:

I am so psyched about the weekend...I cannot wait! Need to get supplies for my costume and work on that this week.....and now thinking of how to decorate our door. Oh yeah and keep training for the race. :goodvibes

My daugther is sick today and wants to just snuggle with me and watch TV......oh the sacrifices we moms make....enjoying every second of it!

Yep- it was me! Good memory! I was almost 6 mo when I did the princess last year. I started in B corral because I had a 10K time submitted which helped me have some time padding. I was pretty slow- ended up with 18 min pace I think (hellllloooo B corral start!)

CONGRATS! I hope your pregnancy is an easy one!

Yes- in my research and talking with my OB, I found that the 140 HR was old school thinking. More reliable is where you are pre pregnancy.

If you were running already, you should be able to keep doing what you are doing, especially early on. confirm with YOUR doc though- make sure you are both comfortable.

I ran until I was about 12 weeks, then went to walking. I think that's because I was a wimp more than that I *needed* too. :rolleyes1 This baby was my 5th and my bladder really sucks too- so it helped to walk instead of run for me.

You can totally keep running as long as there are no other medical reasons not to! Congrats again!

CONGRATS!!! That's great news! My OB highly encouraged me to keep up my training and doing run/walk intervals. He believes the 140 heartrate is old school too and said as long as I could talk comfortable I was okay. He also said to definitely listen to my body and no trying for PR. I've been doing great until the last week (I'm about to be 17wks with my 3rd) when I started having sciatic nerve issues and contractions. I just had to defer my registration to 2013. With that said, I've talked to several ladies on the FB princess page that either ran it last year pregnant or are doing it this year pregnant with no problems. You'll do great and just listen to your body.

THANK YOU so much to the ladies who said to call/email rundisney yesterday!!! I had no clue there was a deferral process for their races. Even through they are closed today, they sent me the form and said if I fill it out today they will accept it. So I will definitely see yall in 2013!!!

Also they said a sales manager will be calling me about the race retreat/platinum chear squad packages I purchased. I know they don't have to go give me a refund on them but I'm crossing fingers they will or at least give me credit for next year. I'm just happy they didn't just totally say nope say no refunds.

And I'm totally cracking up with the "TOM" talk on here the last page and half.

Does anyone know where to pick up ChEAR Squad stuff? I signed DH up for the package that is one up from the free one. I want to sign up my mom for the free one. Do they just get a wrist band?

I think it is picked up at the expo, but I'm not 100% sure.

My advice is like everyone else's...listen to your body and talk with your doctor.

Funny story about running pregnant. A few years ago I did the 5k at Disney World when they still had the Minnie Marathon weekend. My husband was cheering in the stands. He said when the winner came running by a lot of the spectators where surprised that she had such a 'pouchy' tummy since she was so fast. Turns out she was almost 6 months pregnant.:worship:

I wasn't going to post either but too funny about TOM - I am going through menopause so my tom is very variable - I haven't had it for about two months but sure enough last week it came - these boards are powerful!

So I did my 11 Miles on Saturday in 2:36. I wasn't thrilled with the time but probably the last 2-3 miles I was so tired and my knees and hips were KILLING me! Anyway all in all I feel like I should be able to finish right around 3:00 after the next few weeks. This was my first long run since the 6 mile week in November because my knee hurt so bad after that for a few weeks. No excuses now!

About the TOM convo...i hadn't really thought of it until it was brought up here, but unfortunately mine will start that Saturday which means cramp city for me! haha hopefully running will help! Worst part is I can go a few hours without a bathroom break so i was thinking i would get to avoid the restrooms until after but i guess not!

Anyone who has ordered their tickets, How long does it take for them to get delivered if you have them shipped?

So we decided to drive down, but we are staying off property. My question is so that we don't have to wait for everyone to leave to be able to leave epcot's parking lot I'm wondering if my DH should drive me to one of the host resorts and i take the shuttle from there or if he should take me to epcot and just leave. Anyone with any thoughts on the easiest way to deal with the morning travel form off site?

Congrats on the baby news!
At the Disneyland 1/2 marathon, they had some onesies that said something about being a future Disneyland 1/2 marathon runner.
Maybe they'll have those at the Princess as well.
I bought one for my neice who is about to have her first.
It was too cute!

I swore to myself I was not responding to this quote but it was just getting too weird..my TOM too.

Ran at the gym today. 5 miles. I was not as tough as others. Too cold. Was 4 degrees on way to gym this AM. My hips are sore. Which I never had before. HopIng to get some stretching in this week.

My hips have been killing me since I decided to go gung ho at the gym and run a mile at a "3" incline. Getting out of bed has been a challenge.

Can anybody tell me if there are photopass photographers anywhere along the race route? or do people run with cameras? my cell phone takes awful pictures, so i was hoping for photopass photogs, but nobody ever mentions them.......

I right there with you on the menopause thing. And I went into marathon weekend without for over 2 months and was freaked, but all is went fine and I am still waiting......

No photopass but another company and it takes a couple of day after race and they are posted by your bib number online. Wear your bib on the front. And take your camera, often CM are with characters and will take photo or person waiting in line behind you will help.

I did not see any photopass photographers last year. there were plenty of professional photographers, but I'm not sure they were there with the characters. I ran with my camera - there are CMs with all of the characters to take a picture for you!
