It is considered EXTREMELY important in South Korea for children to learn how to speak "perfect American English" to the point where some will have surgery on their tongues to aid them in pronouncing things with an American accent. The better your English, the more competitive you are for a good job.
He has explained this to me. He goes to academy every day after school and that's where the kids learn English. Apparently, he comes from a very affluent family there. I also think that he misses his freedom. There, it's a huge city and everything is within walking distance like Manhattan. I live in the suburbs and you need a car to get anywhere out here. All I can do is try.
Maybe once I get a good run in, I won't want to tear my hair out strand by strand.
