I know this was covered a few months ago, but I cannot find it. Does anyone have information about past Coral placement based on estimated run times. I know that to sign up for the race the highest placement you can get is 2 hr 45min race placement without a certified pace/race results. I registered with that time, but I am now much faster. First of all, how fast do I need to be to move up another Coral (based on past history)? Secondly, I know I need to run a 10k or longer to use as my race time, but how do I get a certified race time? Do I just get a person running the race to write it down on my bib or something? Sorry guys, but I am a racing novice and only ran my first race a few months ago. I really appreciate any help you might be able to give me.
I found this thread from last year. It's talking about the race for 2011, but the times given were from the 2010 race I believe.

1. Corrals are different for every race depending on size and gender (for example, the princess corrals will be differant than marathon weekend as more woman run it than men)
2. Nothing is set in stone until 2 months out
3. they can only give you last years corral info and guess on this year.
For the Princess last year:
My g/f had a 2:05 time and was placed in Corral A -- this year the woman said she would be in corral b (makes no sense, but said the race is expected to be alot larger this year so the corrals will be adjusted)
She gave me these figures as a guide:
Corral A - is for those with a 1:45 or less half time
Corral B is for those with a 2:05 half time
Corral C is for those with a 2:25 half time
Corral D is for those with a 2:45 half time
Corral E is for those who expect to finish in 3 hours
**Depending on the size she said it could be a 25 minute window but right now it is a 20 min window** The woman also pointed out that the 20 min window insures that the first 3-4 miles out of the gate will be FREE.
I ran last year. The times were different. I had a 10K I submitted of 1:19 something (not very fast at all!) and was placed in B corral. Disney estimated my time of finish based on that 10K (which was very very hilly so not sure if they research the races or not!) at 2:28.
I also signed up in Sept for the Princess, but submitted via email in December for the proof of time. I believe your times matter first, and then they would go by when you signed up. For example, I had 2 friends sign up with the same estimated time of finish, but neither had proof. One was in Corral C and one was in Corral D. The second friend didn't sign up until November and the first friend signed up in the summer (pretty sure it was right after the race opened up)
My guess is that if you signed up relatively early and didn't have proof of time, you would end up in Corral C most likely with the 2:45 pace. TOTAL guess though.
If you submit a time, you may move to B or even A, depending on the field of entrants. If we have a faster group running this year, you can be moved back in corrals. If we have a lot more walkers, then you might get in an earlier one. Does all that make sense?
I obsessed over the corrals last year. I even emailed rundisney and asked them to tell me what corral I was in (they did tell me--- but they don't have people placed in corrals until 1st week of Feb, so now is too soon to know) When I changed my corral based on time the lovely Ivy at rundisney said it *might* move me to corral C based on the previous years results. Luckily, it worked in my favor to get to B.
I also think there were A-F corrals last year, but I cannot remember!!! It may have only been to E, but I have my head stuck on F.
Hope that helps!
