Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

So ladies...what is on your training schedule this week?

Here is mine:
Tuesday - 30 min
Thursday - 30 min
Saturday - 11 miles

I planned on a long one this weekend and it was impossible to fit in! So I am looking for a couple shorts and long (split in 2) this weekend to make up for it.

Mon: 2 miles
Tues: rest
Wed: 4 miles
Thurs: 2 miles
Fri: rest
Sat: 10K race, and if I can, I am going to go ahead and run an additional 5 when I get home. It won't be a perfect 11 miles, but it's going to be the best I can manage!

I'm doing 11 on Saturday as well. The gym I normally go to opens at 8 but I found another branch that opens at 7. Anything to keep from losing the entire morning.

My week day cardio is hard bike Tuesday, treadmill intervals Wednesday + some lifting, then easy biking Thursday. I do a good lifting session Sunday mornings since the gym is so quiet. I'm usually there when it opens on the weekend with a select few so it's easy to use the machines and dumbbells when I want to.

Oh my ladies!!! I have been waiting for this race since 2010. I followed the 2010 post wanted to do 2011 but had a baby. I followed 2011 and now it is finally 2012 and we are less than 60 days!!!
I just had to pop in and say how excited I am!!!

SO JEALOUS!!! I lived in Tokyo for 4 years when I was younger, but it was pre-Disney.

I'm not sure if this has been done before in the past, but has anyone thought about putting together a list of what they think their pace will be? I know obviously corrals might separate some, but maybe ladies running alone can find a running partner?

I have been reading the boards but not really posting, so I think it is tme to join the fun. :cool1:

I found this thread from last year. It's talking about the race for 2011, but the times given were from the 2010 race I believe.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2527453&highlight=corral+placement+princess

1. Corrals are different for every race depending on size and gender (for example, the princess corrals will be differant than marathon weekend as more woman run it than men)

2. Nothing is set in stone until 2 months out

3. they can only give you last years corral info and guess on this year.

For the Princess last year:

My g/f had a 2:05 time and was placed in Corral A -- this year the woman said she would be in corral b (makes no sense, but said the race is expected to be alot larger this year so the corrals will be adjusted)

She gave me these figures as a guide:

Corral A - is for those with a 1:45 or less half time

Corral B is for those with a 2:05 half time

Corral C is for those with a 2:25 half time

Corral D is for those with a 2:45 half time

Corral E is for those who expect to finish in 3 hours

**Depending on the size she said it could be a 25 minute window but right now it is a 20 min window** The woman also pointed out that the 20 min window insures that the first 3-4 miles out of the gate will be FREE.

I ran last year. The times were different. I had a 10K I submitted of 1:19 something (not very fast at all!) and was placed in B corral. Disney estimated my time of finish based on that 10K (which was very very hilly so not sure if they research the races or not!) at 2:28.

I also signed up in Sept for the Princess, but submitted via email in December for the proof of time. I believe your times matter first, and then they would go by when you signed up. For example, I had 2 friends sign up with the same estimated time of finish, but neither had proof. One was in Corral C and one was in Corral D. The second friend didn't sign up until November and the first friend signed up in the summer (pretty sure it was right after the race opened up)

My guess is that if you signed up relatively early and didn't have proof of time, you would end up in Corral C most likely with the 2:45 pace. TOTAL guess though.

If you submit a time, you may move to B or even A, depending on the field of entrants. If we have a faster group running this year, you can be moved back in corrals. If we have a lot more walkers, then you might get in an earlier one. Does all that make sense?

I obsessed over the corrals last year. I even emailed rundisney and asked them to tell me what corral I was in (they did tell me--- but they don't have people placed in corrals until 1st week of Feb, so now is too soon to know) When I changed my corral based on time the lovely Ivy at rundisney said it *might* move me to corral C based on the previous years results. Luckily, it worked in my favor to get to B.

I also think there were A-F corrals last year, but I cannot remember!!! It may have only been to E, but I have my head stuck on F.

Hope that helps!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! That's exactly the kind of info that I needed. Guesses or not, it is nice to have someone with some info. You have made my day!!!!

Unfortunately my kids' schedules are really messing with me this week. I am currently hosting a foreign exchange student from Korea and I am totally drained. He has been extremely homesick and I have been trying to do everything in my power (short of sending him back to Seoul) to make this kid happy.

I tell ya, I don't know how other countries let their kids go 1/2 way around the world at such a young age. I definitely wouldn't consider this until my kids were in their junior or senior year of HS.

Top that with Lego Robotics Tournaments and soccer tournaments, soccer practice, , drama club, robotics practice, Religion school, a school dance, after school basketball (where they have to be picked up), work and a husband who is never home b/c his job is crazy, I have not been able to run since the 5th. In order for me to run, I have get up at 3 AM so I can be back before hubby leaves on the 5:30 train. I tried this morning but I'm so wiped. I seriously thought about taking my son's ADD meds just so I could get some energy (supposedly they have the opposite effect on someone that's not ADD).

I really, REALLY need to figure out what I'm going to do tomorrow.

It is considered EXTREMELY important in South Korea for children to learn how to speak "perfect American English" to the point where some will have surgery on their tongues to aid them in pronouncing things with an American accent. The better your English, the more competitive you are for a good job.
