Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Where did you hear the rumor? I would love to stay, but actually just changed our reservation to have us arrive on Thursday and leave Monday, rather than Fri to Tuesday. Airfare is about $700 cheaper that way. After Disney we are going down to the Gulf Coast to visit my parents for few days. I can't wait for this trip. I need some fun in the sun! :goodvibes

I read it over on the Rumor board.

Well I've been slacking, but it was partially due to the ankle... I got out today since I'm starting work later. It really wasn't that great because I didn't eat much yesterday and I'm out of shape from my recovery week. It's put be farther back than I already was on my training plan, but I just have to keep moving forward...

Glad to hear you got out! I know how depressing an injury can be. I am still working on getting my IT band syndrome under control. I got out for a run walk yesterday. I walked one song, ran one song. Unfortunately after about 2.5 miles the pain kicked in. I had to head back home. Not sure how to progress. I really can't take too much more time off with less than 2 months to go! I think I may have done too much yesterday. I had gone skiing the night before and then hit the first few runs with a faster pace than I normally do. Not sure why. I think it just felt good to move!! Going to try to get out again tomorrow AM if I don't imbibe too much tonight.

Does anyone do any message boards to support healthier eating? Any recommendations? I have found this message board to be my saving grace as I prepare for the race and nurse my runners knee. I am going to try to eat healthier in the new year in the hopes it also helps me heal AND RUN!

Just signed up for the Publix GA half on March 18! It's only 3 weeks after the Princess, so I figure I'll take advantage of being already trained! Had to make the decision today before the price jacked up. Will be excited to run through Atlanta!:thumbsup2 Will see how things go in the next year - maybe run the full for 2013?!!

Did 8 today. Honestly, the last half was better than the first, it felt like. It just takes me a while to get in a groove sometime. The absolutely perfect weather helped - sunny and in the 50's. Actually wishing I had gone with the skirt or shorts instead of pants. Supposed to get cold (finally) next week, so am glad I was able to get this one in before that. HATE being cold. I'd never make it up north!:rotfl:

Way to go AMY!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I'm the same way. It takes me about 3 miles to really find my groove. Then I feel like I could go forever. We are having about the same weather here. I need to get out tomorrow morning before DH heads of to the footballgame. I really need to get an 8 miler in too. Hopefully this cold I have will be a bit better tomorrow.

Have to catch up here....havent been on since I came back from the W & D Half! :(
I have not been training, unless you count the two 5K's in Nov...and my 2 runs today and yesterday....But I officially began training yesterday! 8 weeks is good for me...
Although havent found decent airfare I did book CBR or one night on Thurs so I can get a nice easy run in on Friday morning before I head over to AKV..anyone have any ideas to get a 1 -2 miler in on Saturday morning there? Have been there but never ran...got spoiled at EPCOT resorts!
Happy Injury free New Year Princesses:)

I really dont like the Leap Day promotion. It will probably bring in more people to crowd the parks and I've already booked my room and tickets at the race discount so the free day would probably cost me more. I was planning on staying through the 30th and had planned on being in MK on the 29th but now I'll change my plans. I wonder if I can change my tickets to 2 day instead of 3 day?

I just checked the one more diney day web site and the promo is that Disneyland and MK will be open for 24 hours. There is no free admission. wouldn't matter for us. We are leaving on Monday since we don't have enough DVC points to stay any longer.

Happy New Year everyone! The clock is ticking now!!

Still waiting on my MRI results. It's a bummer that stationary bike prices just increased over night, literally! Any suggestions on cardio workouts that are shin-free? Im actually missing my runs, AND my Dance Party marathons with my DS7.:banana:

There is technically free admission IF you book a WDW package through Disney.

The one more day offer is that guetss receive one day of admission and one night of your resort stay free with a stay of 3 or more nights with a minimum of a 3 day park pass. Arrivals must be February 26 through March 10, 2012. So if you booked 4 nights and a 4 day ticket, you would only pay for 3 nights and 3 days of tickets. Hope that makes sense!

Hope that helps :)

Not related specifically to Princess, but I just posted on my blog about the different kinds of runners I see when I'm out - you might get a chuckle if you recognize someone you know (or yourself!) in it!:thumbsup2

I must be lucky, because in the area where I run, all the runners that I see either wave, smile, or give me a nod of acknowledgement. The only exception to this is when they're coming up behind me to pass me. Then, all I usually get is a "To your left/right!" call so I can move accordingly.

Thanks, I will have to check it out!

I keep doing the post and disappear because I've been busy but wanted to come and wish everyone a happy new year! I ran 40 minutes straight for the first time the other day so I feel like I'm coming along nicely. My goal is to get past the first 4-5 boring miles before I slow down and start doing intervals of walking/running. I think tomorrow's run is 50 minutes (5/50/5).

I tried coconut water for the first time b/c I heard it was better than Gatorade. I should have sipped more while running b/c my muscles were really sore the next day.

Does anyone here use runkeeper? You can find my times posted there. My screen name is the same, prmamidedos. Please add me to your street teams!

Awesome blog :thumbsup2 I totally found myself in there, I'm the "shy runner" I get so nervous when I'm running, I still feel a I am way out of my league; but when I'm walking, I sure am happy and friendly as you point out!! LOL you hit the nail on the head with that blog!! Love it :goodvibes

We got our 9.5 run in yesterday afternoon - it was the longest I've ever run, and it felt great! (Mostly). I got a pretty bad pain in my hip around mile 7, to the point where I thought I'd have to stop, but I hopped off the treadmill and grabbed my foam roller. About a minute of rolling later, I was good to go!

I adjusted my intervals, too. I'm sticking with a 2/1 run walk, but I'm varying the pace of my runs, so it's like 2 minutes at 4.5 on the TM, then walk at 3, then run at 5.0, then walk at 3, then I start the pattern all over again. Kept me strong for the whole run, and only added 30 seconds/mile to my pace over doing all the runs a 5.0

That's said, I'm still probably running my long runs too fast. I'm having a hard time figuring out what I should be doing pace-wise.

PS! We just bought our tickets for the Pasta in the Park party. Anyone else going?

I haven't bought our tickets yet but plan on going to the pasta party.

My long runs are at an easy 4.3-4.5 pace. I want to try and keep them at 5 so I'm working on it.

Hey Princesses! I'm trying to plan for NEXT year's Princess (I'm just a 3 miler at this point!) ;) and I'm wondering what/if any discount on rooms/tickets they offer runners and does it apply to just those of us running, or will my BFF who is coming with me be able to get a discount as well b/c we're sharing a room? :confused3
