Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Question on where/what you ladies are eating on Saturday before the race? I was in WDW for one of the race weekends in the past and noticed pasta at the CS locations in the resorts that didn't normally serve pasta (WL). We are staying at AKL and I'm not thrilled with the eating choices served there and I'm wondering if I should seek out an alternative or if they might throw in some pasta at the Mara.

There is the Portobello restaurant at Downtown Disney which is quite good!
I still need to figure this out as well!
Good luck.

Last year we did lunch at CS Tortuga Tavern in MK. They give you a lot of food for the money, I think I just ate a taco salad....got in lots of lettuce and whatever veggies on the fixings bar. For dinner while I wasn't too hungry, we just did CS at the hotel. I got a sandwhich on a baguette. I didn't want to eat anything too weird that my body wasn't used to....plus I grabbed a banana and some milk for my Instant Breakfast for race morning - weird I know but hey works for me! For dinner just wanted to put something in my stomach. Worked out perfect for me not doing a huge meal. I think the key is don't do something you are not used to.

We will probably do something similar this year is what we decided. No definite plans yet though.

I'm more of a sandwich eater the night before at disney than a pasta eater. The last three disney races I've ended up with some kind of turkey sandwich. It gets me protein and carbs, and it relatively healthy. This weekend is the first weekend where we aren't eating CS before the races, so hopefully all goes well.

We have an ADR at Tony's that night. :)

Happy New Year Princesses!!! princess:

I have been MIA for awhile, but I have still been training. I did 10 miles yesterday and today my hips are a little sore. Hopefully my 30 min run tomorrow will make them feel better.

I can't believe how close the race is getting. I am so nervous, but so excited too!!!

I highly recommend il mulino in swan/dolphin for dinner pre-race. Since it's not owned by Disney and a real chef no Disney red sauce! (as much as I love Disney not a huge fan of the food for the most part.) I don't necessarily buy into pasta as carbo loading, but I do know plain pasta, red sauce and veggies won't upset my stomach (you never know when traveling and can't cook your own food) plus I never want to eat heavy when yo have to wake up so freaking early. And, ok, i just love Italian!

Got 6 miles in today in weather with a 10-15 degree windchill. Ugh...talk about miersable! Halfway through I was starting to question my sanity for not sucking it up on the dreadmill :lmao:

Saturay night we are eating at Ohana. We've never been there before. Now I'm rethinking our ADR. Maybe I'll look into changing it.

Bad news from my Orthopedic. I'm grounded with four stress fractures: two in my left tibia, one in my right tibia and one in my right ankle. Three weeks of doing nothing but resting on my tush. If work won't cooperate with his requests, then he'll take me out for two weeks.

Doc told me that I wont be able to start any training for 8 weeks. He's a marathoner so he understands the goals I set for myself. He suggested getting my DH a rickshaw so I can still participate in the Princess! :rotfl2:

Next week I'll be doing a bone density scan as well as a Calcium test to make sure I'm do not have any deficiencies, which would be typical with multiple fractures like this.

We still are keeping our reservations and plans...but I'll be participating as a cheerleader instead, supporting all y'all! :cheer2:

Did a couple of miles today inside on the track at the Rec center. Did a 14 minute pace. I didn't want to really try a faster pace since I have a mild case of shin splints. Even if I keep a 14 minute mile pace at the race, I will be happy. At least I'll beat the sweepers. I think that I will try to do 11 miles this Friday, since it is supposed to be in the 50's. I'm doing the Tinkerbell Half in a few weeks, so pretty soon "taper time"! My favorite!

Does anyone have the event code to order park tickets online? I thought I still had the info but I can't find it

I prefer to get my carbs in bread or potatoes rather than pasta. I have an ADR at the Wave on Saturday.

Oh Nikki, so sorry! What a total bummer. Do what the doctor says so you can heal up.

I just got an email from Run Disney about our Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend!!! Yay - so exciting to see something from them!

Thanks! For some reason, the runDisney emails go to my spam box. :headache: so I have to go looking for them.

Now to figure out how to inform my husband (who will be working that weekend) that he can have a surprise sent to my hotel room :rotfl:

Bah, Nikki, I'm sorry, that STINKS! It sounds like you have a great attitude and thanks for cheering! :cheer2: I hope the bone density scan comes out fine (or that it's easily fixed) and that you were just too much a bad-*ss in your training regimen.

And there's nothing in my email...even checked spam. :confused3 Going to have to start hitting reload...:surfweb:

I got my 4 (almost 5) miles in yesterday in the dark and freezing cold. I was a little dehydrated when I went out, so I grabbed a powerade. By mile 2, it was a slushie! I did my MM for the last mile, and did pretty well for me, right on track with my 10K, predicting a 3:15 finish. Heck, I'll be ahead of the sweepers, and that's what matters. So the 9.5 will be this weekend (darnit!).

Cate

(PS Thanks again Disneybride03. Your story about your mom's funeral and your run right after is inspiring. You never know how tough you can be until you are. Running helps me remember that.)

Oh no!! What a bummer.

My trip to the doctor today about my leg yielded nothing. I got a referral to an orthopedic but my insurance isn't going to cover much more than some basic x-rays (I think) and has a really high specialist co-pay. Sigh.
