Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

babyball, So sorry it took me so long to reply! Been a little busy... :santa:

The Wine & Dine was a really great race... I'm a night-person by nature, so a night race was right up my alley. There was tons of entertainment on course, I found it to be well-lit in all spots, going through the parks at night (beautiful lighting they added in Animal Kingdom, and the Osbourne lights at MGM) were the highlights. I think any Disney race is totally do-able alone... there are so many people around, you will never be lonely! Even with the night race. If you can get some friends to do it, even better! I'm hoping to make it out for one of the fall night races... discussing with hubby whether it will be the new ToT or the W&D.

Thank you so much for the info! Right after I wrote you the ToT was announced and the W&D pushed back! UGH!! I really wanted to do the W&D (mostly for the cocktails afterward :thumbsup2) but my travel dates are pretty much set since I have a conference there that week of ToT. Anyway...I am going to do the ToT instead. I feel confident now that even if I don't have a buddy I am NOT going to miss running through the lights etc. Maybe I can make a goal of running straight through by then being that 10 miles is more doable.

Airtran had a slight sale this am so my friend and I booked our flights down for the Princess!! Flying down early on a direct flight Sat am and out late Tuesday evening. Just have to get our park tickets and it will be real!

Also, considering doing the Wine & Dine as I think I have my parents convinced to push out their normal fall trip till Nov. Will keep you updated - at least it give me a reason to keep running!

Thank you ladies for all the feedback on me feeling defeated after talking to my SIL about her half marathon. I did 10 miles this weekend and feel great about it. There are 2 more long runs scheduled til the Princess and I can't wait. I'm getting more excited and also more scared/anxiety but I know I can do it now that I did 10 miles :) Good Luck to the rest of you on your runs and I'm committed to doing 3 runs a week from now til the Princess ;)

I did my 9.5 mile run yesterday and really struggled but I did finish. Part of the time I kept thinking of what I would tell each one of you who have inspired me so much. Hopefully, I will get a chance to write it up.

I made my hotel reservations and now I am so nervous. I even had my first HM nightmare - I dreamed that I wasn't allowed to run in the "real" disney park but was relegated to a section themed around Fern Gully. Oh well, I think all of this has caused me to focus and to recommitt. It is getting closer.

Back on schedule today, thought I'll have to wade through the seasonal crowd at the gym. I will be intensely biking to try to make up for the 1.5 weeks of break, and hopefully lifting. I never know what to expect during this time so soon after New Years', but hopefully I'll be able to get done what I need to.

Did my 9.5 miles yesterday at a 15:15 pace! Felt really good, especially since I was sort of taking it easy by walking 3 min and running 1. I was trying to keep my walking pace at 16mm so I'll know I can at least finish even if I get tired and have to start walking.

So ready for a Disney trip in a few days for the Family Fiesta 5k! Hopefully I can get some kind pf decent runDisney stuff and perhaps a sparkle skirt at the expo. I'll be wearing my Wish Princess Bondiband, so say hi if you see me! :thumbsup2

Just saw that today rundisney posted that Pasta in the Park is sold out. Hope all that wanted to do it signed up.

Anyone else signed up for the Race Retreat? You never know with Orlando weather..I did it for the WDW Half in 2011 and glad I did!

I just signed up for it. I figured the private bathrooms for a pregnant girl is good enough reason to get it. I also got dh the platinum chear squad so he can take the boys there if he gets over there before I'm done. Thankfully the boys are under 3 and we do not have to pay for them.

Got my 10.0 in last evening!! BOO-YAH!! It felt really great!! I was able to get it done in a little over 2 hrs, and I only had 1 "pee" stop! So awesome!!

Congrats to all my fellow princesses on your training too!! We are getting so close, time to really get serious!

Stay strong princesses!! princess:

Oh, how sad. I got a small Christmas bonus from work and was planning to use the $ do this. :sad1: Oh well, now I'll take my $ and spend it at the Expo instead.:goodvibes

So last week I was off from work and I "ran" outside after running on a treadmill for the past two months. I thought I was doing good, mixing it up with inclines and running for 3-4 miles feeling good at the end of each run. On my first run outside - I couldn't even run for 5 minutes without feeling exhausted! I was barely able to run 2 miles each day and even then it took me over 35 minutes! Even walking was absolutely horrible :guilty: So yesterday back to the gym and the first 2 miles were a little rough, but afterwards, I felt good again.

Has anyone had a really tough time adjusting from treadmill to actual street? Is this normal? I am going to try to do at least one weekly evening run on actual pavement, but sometimes it's just not possible, while the gym I can definitely do. I felt as if though every bone and muscle in my body hurt after each run - should I look at changing sneakers for street running? :sad2: Any feedback is appreciated.

I trained a lot on the treadmill for my first Princess (all short runs were TM) and didn't seem to have too much trouble outside. However, I did a lot of the longer runs outside where I could.

Maybe it's the difference in weather? Do you live where it's cold? I find if it gets below a certain temp sometimes it makes me feel more tired somehow.

SW had a slight far sale today too, so I booked mine this afternoon. I am coming in Thurs AM and spending that day with a friend at Universal, and then Fri-Tues with my DIS friends. 7 of us are going this year, staying in a 2-bed villa at OKW. It will be a blast!!

I got a 5 miler in on the TM this morning. So far this week I am up to 2 runs and plan to go to the gym again on Thursday, and get out Saturday while the weather has warmed up.

Here's something funny. So after my run at the gym, I somehow managed to waltz right into the men's locker room. Thought it was kinda odd at first that they would have a guy in the women's locker room cleaning, until I turned to find a wall of urinals! :scared1: Then I ran the hell out of there into the correct locker room and just laughed! I have officially given myself the idiot of the day award.

Airfare is booked! So I will definately be getting there!

Here's a question for those of you who have run Disney races before. If I get the free ChEAR Squad package for DH and my mom, can they get into MK to see me, or are they only able to get to the finish line? I really don't want to spend any more money that I don't have.

Love coming here and getting inspired. Thank you all for that  Im hapoy to say i got back on track this week.. 2 runs during the week and I ended up doing 11 Sunday! Took me 2 hrs 10 minutes. I ran the first 6 then did the run walk method for the next 5. I was BEAT but feeling pretty good now. I am really feelong for the first time that i can actually do this!! Tried an energy gel at mile 6, not sure it did anything but it didn't make me feel sick so I'm planning on trying it again next long run. I also bought an IFitness belt. This is getting so close now!! 54 days ladies.. :)

I came home from the gym today and told my husband "People need to start breaking their New Year's Resolutions. NOW."

My mom and I signed up for the Race Retreat. It's our 1st race and we wanted to have a place to go and feel 'relaxed' (yea right!).

We were supposed to get our 10m run in on Sunday because it was supposed to be the 'last' nice day here in Buffalo (it's 14 degrees for a high today!). I got the flu on Sat and sadly it was the 1st time we didn't follow our plans. This weekend it's going back into the 40s so we might try and tackle it outside again. We really dread the thought of TM running for 10+miles!

I am with you...i am not going to fight for a TM right now at our gym, I just did my 3 miler in 27 temps..felt great! It was in the teens the other day...so it did feel balmy tonight! lol

when we use to go to LA Fitness to work out, we always complained the next few months. It was always so freaking packed and crazy. I hated january and february.

I started watching the newest Biggest Loser last night, the theme is "no excuses". I was on my way to the gym at 630am and passed 2 runners, it was dark and 14 degrees! They MUST have watched it! My heros! as I sweated in shorts and T on gym TM......next to a man with IRONMAN tatted on his entire calf!
I was surrounded by motivation this morning! and to think I actually turned off alarm at first.

50 days Princessess!

Just an FYI if anyone will be at Marathon Weekend and wants a SparkleSkirt, they are hand delivering them To hotel rooms before the races. I was holding off on it, but the idea of having it magically come to my hotel before the 5k is too tempting!

That's the gym I go to. I work 7:30 to 4:30 so that slight time frame lets me get a choice cardio machine but the weights are a different story since I do those after cardio. I did some core work yesterday with the weights before I went home to finish the workouts. The parking lot was certainly more packed than usual.
