Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Wow...Last Sunday before the big day! After watching and waiting to register and then watching the tickers count down, It feels now like it just flew by.
I am almost back from being sick. It really did a number on me with no energy, body pain and sore throat but I did manage 4 17 min miles today and without shin pain! I plan on two short runs this week and lots more rest and vitamins.

Yes I fear the sweeper but I am proud of myself for all I have done to prepare and for trying. If I didn't stick myself out there and try and then I would have 0% chance of getting the metal. I will be one of the slow princesses in the back but I will be giving it ALL I have!
:tink:
So here is to faith, trust and pixie dust! And a little ibuprofin along the way. :)

We can "fear" the sweepers together! What is your bib number range?

I saw that, but she was also with a charity and I was wondering if her charity was running a bus from the YC???

That's what I thought when I asked, but the mentor was adamant that it was a Disney host resort. I'm kind of freaking out about it, and I know I shouldn't. Somehow I'll get there lol.

I'm staying at All Star Music for the first time and the WDW site doesn't state if there's a microwave in the room or not. Does any one know if there's one or not? I'm assuming the food court will not be open that early so now i'm stressing about breakfast. I normally have oatmeal with protein powder and fruit before a long run, but looks like I may have to settle for a protein bar- blech- not my fav. Any tips?

I am in Allstar sports. No fridge no microwave. Just bare bones sleeping arrangement.
When I booked 2 months ago, that was the only thing in our budget. Last week i called to see if I can upgrade to the moderate resorts ,... And everything was sold out.

I'll just have some bagels ready to chew on in the bus stop. My protein bar of choice is Lara bar and i don't do too well with it on long runs.

Did my last long run yesterday. 7 miles. It went really well.

It's been fun to get to the point where I can say, "this time 7 days from now...."

In a way the time has really flown. I am so excited.

We leave Friday afternoon. I'm hoping this is a very quiet week at work. Oh to be independently wealthy....

I'm planning two more short runs this week, and then we'll be "leaving on a jet plane!"

I started packing today. I have filled 1 carryon and I still have 2 pair of shoes, all of my race gear, undies, and tolietries to pack. :confused3 SIGH. Guess I'll have to edit a bit more....

I'll be wearing a neon yellow running shirt and pink leopard ears :rotfl: for the half, so wave if ya see me!

Wishing everyone a stress-free, illness-free, injury-free week and painless travel to Disney. If we don't chat again this week, see ya at the finish line!princess:

I bet they are doing a special TNT bus. I would think Disney would update their website if they really added a bus there.

Don't worry about it. You raised alot of $$ for TNT, good job. Enjoy the accomodations they have for you and your teammates, of course they will get you to the race!

Just finished my sleeves. Had to share!!

Leaving today! Wrenched my back last monday, no running since, still just a little sore.
Plane sched to leave 9:45 am. Snowing here in NJ. I will cap at airport if need be. I have my iPad and kindle. Everything packed in carry on.

See everybody Sunday! :banana::banana:

Weather forecast is hot for the week. Be careful on Friday and Saturday. I am in south Florida. It was hot and sunny over the weekend. I was out walking around at an art festival. Got a nice sunburn on my neck where I missed sunscreen and was a little dehydrated. Take it easy and don't forget to drink your water. Have a great week. We are ready!

Super cute! I like the sleeves in theory, but didn't buy any yet. I like to walk and run in either long sleeves (cold and windy) or sleeveless. So these seem like the perfect in between option!

Did my last "long" run yesterday - 6 miles. It was great! I usually run in the afternoon or evening. Yesterday was a packed day, so I got out in the morning after eating a good bfast. Wow - this bodes well for race day! I felt rested and fueled. If I can manage that again on race day, I'm good to go!

Getting nervous about the skirt - my niece, who lives 45 min. away, made it for me and it is now "in the mail". I leave Fri. morn and there is no mail today, so this is cutting it a little too close for me! Can't wait to see it, though - Tinkerbell green. Also, took the suggestion of someone else on here and found knee socks at Target on clearance for .50 - going to cut the foot out and use them as "sleeves" so that if I get hot, I can pitch them and not worry about it. And they happen to be super cute and will match the skirt! Never could get the darn wings to iron on my shirt, so I think I will be wearing my pink running tee that says "run like a mother" on it - stop and say hi if you see me! (At this point, I think we need to carry around a list matching what people are wearing to their names!) :rotfl:

I absolutely can't wait. First time in 11 years that I will be there not only without kids, but without being pregnant!!!

Guilt-induced question - what are some good, not over the top exp. souveniers to bring back for the kiddies? I am getting my 2 y.o. the Mr. Potato Head Disney parts. The 7 & 9 y.o. are a bit harder to impress! Last time we went, they made their own light sabers, so I won't get that for them.

I'm going to do the pressed pennies and, if I can, another idea that I read about - I'm going to get post cards with their fave characters on them, try to get those characters to sign them, and put them in the mail for a nice surprise even after I get home!

Love those sleeves!! warm and feminine. Makes me want to get the sewing machine out. What kind of material did you use? Looks like they will stay up just fine.
I got snowed in today, so maybe I can go out tomorrow and buy something to decorate myself.

Thats what I was thinking. It may be a bit chilly in the morning so sleeves will be nice. BUT once it warms up I'm not going to want sleeves. They can be pushed down, taken off and tucked into my pants, or even just discarded. They were not very expensive or hard to make.

Plus, the only place I really hate having sleeves when I run is around my arm-pit. Just feels too hot.

It is a cotton / spandex material. Not sure what it was called.
Have fun!!!

I did not pre order the pin and I think I saw somewhere that they were sold out. But they have jackets:goodvibes , shopping the expo sounds like its going to be fun!!

I don't know if this is true for the WDW races since this will be my first one at WDW, but at Disneyland they had 2 pins for the race. They had the pin you could ONLY order online. So if you're seeing info about that one being sold out it might actually be that you could only buy it online so they only made enough for the people who pre-ordered them. They also had pins at the expo. They were in containers by the checkout area where you would buy the official jackets and what not. They had plenty of those when I was at the DL Half... So, you could get lucky and they could have a different pin to buy at the expo!

I can't believe we leave this week for the race! Only 3 days of work this week too:cool1:
I'm nervous about walking 5k the day before the 1/2 for the first time. The last 2 weeks, my mom and I have been doing trial 5k's outside to work on our pace, and yesterday I really pushed our walking pace so we were at 16:00/miles. This morning I am sore for the first time. It's not super bad, but noticeable for sure. I did a new yoga workout on Saturday night, but wasn't sore yesterday, so I doubt that would be what's making me sore. I've already promised my mom I would walk with her because she is really nervous about not finishing. Hopefully since the course is flat, I won't be too sore the next day. I always read that walking uses different muscles than running, but I never really believed it until this morning:rolleyes1

Don't obsess too much about your pace. My first 5K was last Sept at the Mickey's Halloween 5K, and I unknowingly ran/walked it with a stress fracture so was in considerable pain. I crossed the finish line in 54 mins and some odd seconds, and believe me, I was NOT the last one crossing the line. I've been told, and my personal observation confirmed it at least for my race, that since it's an untimed fun run, they're not super vigilant with the sweeper van. And since the 5K isn't on any traffic roads that require closing and reopening, I'm betting this 5K will be the same way. Now, 16 min is obviously your goal, but if you have to walk slower or more than you'd like, it shouldn't make or break being able to finish. Hope this helps!

Yeah, don't walk too much that day. Sit and people watch. :goodvibes

Today, I am rubbing my own legs. I did a couple minutes of yoga at 6:30, but I really need to get off of this computer and stretch everything.

I can't believe I am leaving Thursday!!!! I am getting butterflies in my stomach.

We're leaving on Thursday, too. As long as they can get the snow cleared...:cold:

I have 3 kiddos as well - Girl 3, and 2 boys 9 and 10 - they really get a kick out the vinylmations and have been collecting them. They aren't too spendy 10-15 and they really enjoy the mystery ones.

Yeah! That's for sure! I have a two foot snow drift by the garage and another at the end of the driveway from the snowplow. Today was supposed to be my muscle relaxation day. Ha Ha Ha How about you?
