Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

There are still quite a bit of resorts open off property around Disney, I like using bookit, they have some good deals in the Orlando area, I know you will find something to stay at, don't be too worried. :thumbsup2

Thanks, that makes me feel better. :) There are couple of hotels in the hundred-dollar range just off Diz property. I just don't want to stray too far--my biggest fear is getting there late.

I've been reading back a few pages and didn't see this mentioned, but those of you who will have your families with you, do they come with you to the start? I am debating whether or not to haul the hub and DS9 and DD6 with me. Probably better if they come a little later, as my girl is pretty unruly in the morning as it is. It certainly won't be easy to get her anywhere at 4 am!

I'm sure you'll find something great. Good Luck!!

I had no idea that all the value resorts were sold out. Sorry!
I only booked our stay a week or two ago.

this is probably a stupid question, but for the Expo... how are you getting there? I've been to disney a bazillion times but never have been to the ESPN area. I can't find out if transportation is being provided for that (or I'm not looking in the right area, lol).

If you are staying at a host resort they will have buses to the expo. If not you can just go to a park and then take a bus to a host resort and catch the expo bus from there.

After I wrote the question I kind of figured, ha ha. Awesome :goodvibes I'm over thinking everything now and am planning the whole trip to the hour, lol.

I've been wondering the same thing...I take a short walk break at every mile mark and would hate to have someone right behind me when it was time to stop. maybe i should hang a "caution-keep back 10 feet" on my back :) I think I'll just raise up my hand though and hopefully anyone behind me will be paying attention...at least I will have tried! :confused3 The back of my shirt says "Princess Summer" so if anyone sees me...beware of walk breaks! :rotfl:

I think another poster answered, but I'll chime in as a long-time Gallowalker. I just glance over my shoulder when it's time to walk. Also....if at all possible, move to one side of the road or the other (doesn't really matter which side) so you don't start your walk break right in the middle of the road and block people who are running. There will be A LOT of us out there using that method...we just have to be courteous.

I sometimes do try to make a little "stopping" signal with my outstretched hand sort of by my side/butt...like one might on a bike...but not always.

Speaking of courtesy....
PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT WALK MORE THAN 2 OR 3 ABREAST, ESPECIALLY ON THE NARROW PARTS. Besides the sections in the parks, the overpasses and on/off ramps are only one lane wide. All it takes is a group of 4 people walking and then some people trickling in on each side to block the whole road. I almost completely gave up on Disney races a few years ago, because it was a huge hindrance to people who were actually running/jogging.
So, let's all be nice to each other out there and allow everyone to have as good a race as they can! Thanks!!!

I just got in from a run. Holy moly is it windy!!! My legs are so red. It was my test run. I wore everything that I'm going to wear next week to make sure it doesn't chafe. OMG, the race is next week!!!!

ugh, you guys i need some encouraging words. i planned on doing 10 miles today and i managed just under 7 miles. i just couldn't go any further. the temperature wasn't too bad at 35 degrees but it is SO windy out. i just checked and it's saying it's close to 40 mph! my hat kept flying off, i couldn't see in front of me with all the dirt and dust coming up and i was just not going anywhere.

i'm exhausted. that was so tough. i even had to walk three times and i still couldn't even get 7 miles in. i'm really disappointed. i've only run 10 miles now two different times and the last time was about 6 weeks ago.

i am afraid i won't be able to finish 13.1 miles now! i'm devastated :(

This is where the mental part of long distance running kicks in! You've done 10 so you know you have the endurance to do the miles. Now you have to rely on the mental toughness you've built up during this training to push you through the hard part and keep you going. You CAN do it...it's not supposed to be easy!! When it gets tough, just keep imagining crossing that finish line and having that medal hung around your neck...zone out and keep moving!! And don't keep dwelling on the bad run...put it behind you and focus on having a couple more really good short runs to get your confidence back up right before the race. :cheer2:

Yes, yes, yes!

Ugg... trying to motivate myself to 'get over with' my last run before the big race. I have to entertain the kids tomorrow and then on Wednesday I'm doing a class at the gym, so this will be it for me. But I just can't seem to get myself motivated to get downstairs and get on the treadmill OR go to the gym and get on the treadmill. It's in the 30's and raining outside right now. :headache: Really wanted to do at least one run outside.
I haven't ran outside since November.

Oh well. When do you all plan on doing your last training run?

By the way... the weather on Sunday now looks AMAZING!!! :woohoo: Hope it's true!!

C'mon, you can get out and do it! You didn't train all this time to peter out right at the end!!! :yay: Think about how much better you will feel about yourself if you push through the "blahs" you're feeling right now and get up and do it!

I have 2 more short runs...a 3 miler on monday and another 3 on wednesday. Then it's a much-needed massage on Thursday and I'm on my way to Orlando Friday evening. I'm also hoping for the weather to stick...but I was really hoping it would be just a tad cooler that morning...oh well!

Oh, thank you for saying this! :flower3: I will be looking for you in your Princess Summer shirt. princess:

I just wanted to say, Thank You!!
I really am feeling blah, I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I forgot to eat this morning.
I went downstairs and ran a mile and gave up. Then I read your post. I'm going to get in at least one good run this week before I leave. I really needed that. I may even go out again today.

You're welcome!

you gotta eat! you're car isn't going to take you anywhere without fuel, and your body's not either...which reminds me I haven't had breakfast yet either! Going to take my own advice and have a banana right now!

Good Morning!

I ran 7 miles this morning. I really didn't want to run. Ate a chocolate GU at mile 3 and that helped keep me zooming along. :) I am glad I pushed myself.

Time for a banana protein shake and a shower!

i am thinking of buying the "i did it!" t-shirt before the race. that way i will HAVE to finish. i'm too cheap to waste money by not finishing the race!!!

That's a great idea! I think I may do the same. Will you buy it at the EXPO?

Also, I wanted to add that I, like you, have only run 10 miles as my longest over the past few months. Been training since last May, and it took me a loooonnnggg time to get up to that point. Lately I have had a very difficult time with sore shins & PF, and it only until recently that I was able to scrape together the money to buy better shoes & some orthotics. After discussing intently with my husband, I have come to the decision that I won't do any running at all this last week before the race. I'll do lots of stretching, some yoga and some spinning on my bike, but no running. This is my best effort to keep conditioned but give my feet & legs their best chance to un-inflame themselves before Sunday.

I (and you as well) have worked for a long time to get to this point, and you do have to trust your training at this point. I once heard that the race is the "easiest" part; you have already put in all those hours and days of training. So relax, take a deep breath, and trust that you have it in you to do what you have trained for! I'll be doing the same! :)

The best, and sometimes only, place to get the merchandise. If you THINK you want something while you are there...get it! Items sell out somewhat quickly at Disney races and there is only so much to go around.

So I had good news on my run and I had bad news on my run... My insoles have finally worn in and aren't making my arch hurt anymore, but my ankle is hurting again... Luckily I'm seeing my PT on Tuesday and I know he'll have me ready to go on Sunday! Unfortunately, I only got in 5 miles instead of 7, but if 5 is what it takes for me to get a decent run in without serious injury then I'll take it (I'm always looking for the positive)...

1 week ladies!!! :cheer2:
