Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

I had my first funny race dream. I dreamt that I was being swept, but I refused to go. They kept trying to grab me and put me in the van, and I kept slipping away and running away. I went a little ninja on them until they hog tied me and tossed me in the van. Lmao!!!

OMG, Please God, send this to Hollywood. I need this scene written into a Will Farrel/ Tey Fey Movie. ROFLMAO just thinking about it!
:lmao:

Hello Princesses, sorry I have not posted in a while, but I am still going to the princess, I am injured and still slow. I am happy to hear that there are many of other princesses like me, (not the injured part)
How did you find out what corral you are in? I have my bib number but I don't know what corral that is.

For me its purely a guess based on the very large bib number 15,000+. When I signed up I had put 3:30 as my finish time as I wasn't even sure I would finish it. Last week I did 10.1 in 2 hours.

i was just wondering about you yesterday and was going to PM you. I hope you heal up quickly. i know what my bib # is (8203) and i'm just assuming that people are either just guessing where they will be and/or calling rundisney to find out. i don't really care as obviously i'm not a fast runner and just want to finish!

wow! that's an awesome time! the only reason you won't finish in 3:30 with that kind of pacing would be if you decide to take the behind the seeds tour before finishing! you go girl!

:headache::headache: ARGH! Suppose to fly out tomorrow night to Orlando and they are now calling for a storm here tomorrow 10-15 cm :headache::headache: I really hope we get out okay, hubby needs to be somewhere first thing Monday morning. Send us good vibes please that all goes ok!

Good for you!! :thumbsup2. I am also in the higher numbers. My bib is in the 14,000 and when I signed up I hadn't even start training so I marked the longest time. In retrospect, I wish I had given myself a little more credit in the fact that I AM able to do this!! Oh well, it's my first half and I am going to have a great time either way!! :woohoo: Although ,I have to say I have been doubting myself the last week. I haven't run in almost 2 weeks due to the flu! I am hoping it's gone by next week!!

Sorry about your injury, but you certainly won't be alone. I just want to finish and hoping it won't be painful on my foot. All we can do is set out to do our best and have fun while doing it!

As for corral I think there are like 17,000 runners so if you divide that by 6 corrals its about 3000 per corral. There are some who contacted run disney also which confirms this estimate. I submitted a 10k which was a fast one for me, so I am going to be getting passed by MANY!

This is a random question about being a courteous runner/walker. I do the galloway method and have been training by myself. Is there some "known" sign that I am switching from running to walking? Does it help to hold up my hand or something? Just wondering. I do plan on being on one side of the road, well unless its really banked and my foot starts to bother me I will need to be in the middle.....

Still can't believe its a week away!

I think you move to one side of the road or the other. Don't just stop short as you may be pacing others and not even know it and they don't know your routine. I saw something (can't remember what) at at the DL half and stopped short and had a couple people on my back...they weren't happy.

On another note...I bet there are 17,000 runners total for the weekend...5k'ers, kids races and half combined. May eat my words later, but I don't think more than 14000 for the half. Last years bib numbers went into the 14,000+ and there was just under 11,000 half racers.

LMAO... Yep- you are gonna rock it. that's a great time!!! But if you stop to take the tour, make sure to let us know how you liked it! bahhhaahhaa

Joan, there are bib numbers out there in the high 16,000s. I talked to one person on FB who had 16948 or something along those lines for the half. Doesn't mean there will be 17,000 actual racers, but there are bibs going up to that number. According to the world of FB anyway. :)

I was just basing my thoughts on last year...11,000 racers/bib numbers in the 14,000+.

Thank you for thinking of me Nancy. I am just an emotional mess.
I have trained for this for over a year and I only got up to 11.5 miles in training and that was 3 weeks ago.

MY bib is in the 13, 000, I sent in a 15K finish time.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am happy to hear there are others with feet issues, I am near a breakdown here, my problem is on my long run last sunday that was to be 11.5, I had to stop at 7.5 because the inside of my left foot by the arch and then up my ankle started to hurt with every step I had to stop. Monday I rested, Tuesday I ellipticaled I was fine, Weds. I did 2 miles and was still ok, Thursday rested, now on Friday rested also and my foot out of the blue started to hurt again, bad. I don't know what to do, I know its not my running shoes. I am going to try the elliptical today and just hope with the help and support from the women on here and the goddesses for another thread I can get across that line in 3:30. I am a true 15 min mile pace

Sorry for the long story, I just need to vent that out. Thanks

Oh we totally understand. the farthest I got was 10.5, felt great during the run. I had hoped to go up to 12, but oh well, didn't happen. It makes me feel good to hear others will not have a perfect race too.

ARe you stretching your calves? Per my PT and Podiatrist from when I had PF before, stretch 3 times a day. Runners Stretch - pushing against a wall one foot behind the other and then bend knees, hold for 30 seconds and switch..do this like 3 times. Also sit with back and head up against a wall and do the towel stretch on your foot, hold for like 30 seconds and switch repeat 3 times. The arch and tendons in the are all attached to the calve I have learned that tight calves lead to problems in the feet.

What are you wearing as shoes during the day? Maybe you had a shoe with no support and it aggravated it. If you do the rolling foot/arch on a juice can or frozen bottle of water it does help with pain, esp after an exercise, helps with inflamation.

If you need to cry or rant, get it out! Its a very frustrating situation - especially when you have worked so hard for so long.

Jeff Galloway himself was pacing a group that was near us during Wine and Dine. So the correct way to take your walkbreak is:

1) Move over to the side of the road.
2) Raise your hand (like asking a question in school)
3) Say "Walking"
4) Slow Down.

Thank you, I have to say I don't strech enough, with 2 kids and a full time job, I am lucky to get the workout in, and I just run to the shower.
I strech my hamstings and I am shaveing my legs :rotfl2: :lmao:

I called the Swan and was told they are running. They have been working on the docks, but at the Swan they are up and running. The dude at the Swan told me he thinks right now they are working on the dock at the yacht club, but wasn't sure, but that the Swan dock is open and running.

This is my first time at the Swan, will they be running early enough to catch a ride BACK to the swan AFTER the race. Just wondering, with 4 princesses in my group in different corrals and different finish times, looking at all our alternatives. Of course the driver is the fastest, so don't want to hold her up if we don't have to!

Thanks for all your wisdom. :-)

Thanks! I think it may have been a fluke but I am certainly claiming it! It was much better than the 9 I attempted previously!

I want to second what saysay said about shoes worn during the day. Thursday was our first warm day and I wore cute little slip on sandles with a skinny heel. For that run that afternoon, my ankle and foot were killing me. I have not had that kind of pain during all my training. I later figured it had to be walking in heels, which I hadn't worn in several months.

I also know I need to stretch, but I don't during the week because I too am in a hurry to get in the run between work and picking up the kiddos.

I've been wondering the same thing...I take a short walk break at every mile mark and would hate to have someone right behind me when it was time to stop. maybe i should hang a "caution-keep back 10 feet" on my back :) I think I'll just raise up my hand though and hopefully anyone behind me will be paying attention...at least I will have tried! :confused3 The back of my shirt says "Princess Summer" so if anyone sees me...beware of walk breaks! :rotfl:

Me too!!! There are two of us running from different rooms at Pop. We will have a rental car, but are still considering a taxi just for us runners. Let me know if anyone from Pop wants to hook up or plan transportation!

I'm driving over to the start with my parents, though I'd love to meet up with some people to hang out with in the corrals. Based on what everyone is posting, I'm 5917 and will probably be in C. What corral are you and your friend going to be in? What time are you planning on leaving Pop for the start? I was thinking 4am.

Is anyone going to have their supporters at the start, MK and then the finish? The spectator information says that it is possible to view at all three places, but does anyone have any experience with this??

I know it is still a little early on the weather forecast, but I just checked it and it says 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms! EEEEeeeekkk!!!!:scared1: Please, please, please let the race not be cancelled due to bad weather. Go away rain and storms!
