Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Hey Princesses - HAVE A GREAT RACE!!

I thought about being a frog but could not swing a trip to MCO around the event.

Coach Charles,

I've missed you around here. Thanks for all your advice and encouragement! I feel a lot more prepared and calmer than I would have without your kind and timely words.

Thanks so much!
Merci

This is directed to everyone who has said they're shy and a bit concerned about chatting with strangers in the corrals.

Fake it till ya make it, baby.

Except for the elite runners, I suspect everyone is there to have fun and will be approachable. I can't imagine a "cool costume!" would be rebuffed by anyone. We are in the happiest place on earth, right? So just smile and most folks will respond.

I don't mean to sound preach-y, just reassuring. I don't want anyone to stress about feeling "alone" in the corral; I really think we'll all be chattering away happily.

I know I keep an eye peeled for anyone who looks "disconnected" and give them at least a smile. You guys are all warm-hearted so I knwo you'll do the same. So I think we're covered.

Hugs to all y'all, as we "Suthners" say!

...chronic over-packer! :sad2:

...will have to go shopping this weekend because all this running has worked off some weight and changed my shape and I'm not so sure my capris fit anymore.

I am a recovering overpacker ;)

I make lists of what I would like to take, what outfits that can make, and then try to edit, edit, edit. I HATE waiting for checked bags, so that helps motivate me to make carry-on(s) work. And I've become an expert roller. Rolled clothes really do take up less space. I always miss certains pairs of shoes when I'm away, though. Can't make my shoes any smaller....

Congrats on the need to go shopping this weekend!!!! Have a blast.

Congrats on the need to go shopping this weekend!!!! Have a blast.

I try to edit too, but lists don't work for me...I actaully have to pack everything I think I want, and then once I see how much space I don't have, I start to "revise" my piles :) I really try my best. My issue isn't with carry-on or checked though, it's having enough space in the checked bag for everything and staying under the alotted weight :scared1: I don't think I've ever flown anywhere with only a carry-on...it'll never happen! Does that make me high-maintenance?? Oh well

Me too. The guest bed has piles of outfits laid out. Now that there is a better idea of the weather next weekend, I know what to pack. I'm hoping to stick to only one checked bag...

I still, on occasion, over pack, but I found if you're able to roll your clothes you can pack more in or have more room to bring things back...

Y'all please tell me that you or someone you know has started in the last corral and still finished! I don't know why I'm so worried about it, but ever since I found out that I'm in the last corral, I am worried sick that I'll get swept!:sad2::sad1:

I started the 2009 Princess in the last corral and the 2010 Half in the last corral and I finished both of them.

just checked weather.com they are predicting possible rain. =(

:cool1: I am so nervous and excited at the same time. This will be my first 1/2 marathon and it has been a journey to say the least. It's great to see all the tips and advice here. I hope the weather is good.:wizard:

I had my first funny race dream. I dreamt that I was being swept, but I refused to go. They kept trying to grab me and put me in the van, and I kept slipping away and running away. I went a little ninja on them until they hog tied me and tossed me in the van. Lmao!!!

OMG of COURSE it's going to rain. That is just SO my luck! Hopefully it'll be just a blast here and there. Maybe if it's really warm it'll feel nice to get a little rain on us. Er...yeah, ok, wishful thinking. Guess I'll be bringing a pancho to the starting line!!

Yay! I'm at Pop too! Anyone else staying there?

Me too!!! There are two of us running from different rooms at Pop. We will have a rental car, but are still considering a taxi just for us runners. Let me know if anyone from Pop wants to hook up or plan transportation!

I'll be at Pop and I am renting a car. My DP is sleeping in and not seeing me off at the starting line. (Hopefully near the finish line, though...)

Mind if I ask what time he's planning on going? My DBF doesn't want to go with me when I go at the wee hours but he does want to be there for at least the finish. He's never been to Disney ever and I'm scared if I leave it up to him, he'll never make it there or wind up at Universal for all his 'sense of direction'. :rotfl: He'll be totally reliant on Disney transportation.

It'll be his first time, too. He's not planning ANYTHING. I am.:goodvibes
I'm thinking about sending him on the Epcot bus around 8:15-8:30. I expect to finish around 9:15 or so. We're going to go to Epcot on Saturday and I'll show him where the resort buses drop off and where he should go to cheer me on. I'm suggesting he cheer from near the Fountain of Nations. Maybe even be able to get a photo together. Then have him meet me by in the area in the parking lot, after I get my medal and grab my bag.

I wish I could just find your DP and say "DBF, follow that guy!" I'm hoping to get him to Epcot on Friday, but since I've never run a marathond at Disney, I am not sure where he should be to cheer me on. Isn't the Fountain of Nations inside Epcot? Do you have to be a ChEAR person for that, then? I think DBF is going to be stuck with parking lot duty. Luckily he's tall enough he could see my coming in a crowd.

I may have the name wrong. Somewhere in Innoventions Plaza. I'm assuming that since it will be after park opening, he can use his ticket and enter just as any other guest and cheer from the guest side of the cones. That's what I did in 2010 and 2011 for marathon weekend. I assume it will be the same for the Princess.

Me too. I over pack amd still forget/ miss things. even with lists. I am just not as organized as I wish I was. :rolleyes1

just checked weather.com they are predicting possible rain. =(

I saw that too. Looking at the map most of the country will be having rain. I have trained in rain and I did buy a throw away wind breaker/ rain coat thing, but still I am not a fan of cold rain so I am hoping it is kind of warm.

:lmao: I was seriously laughing so hard I almost woke up ds who is sleeping on my chest right now. :rotfl:

I started packing my carry on this morning. So far just my race outfit, minus my shoes, garmin, nike+ (I know obsessive :)) and iPod.
