Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

I just finished my run in costume and I think I have a solution for both issues. The skirt was itchy and the top was hot, so I unzipped the top and wore it down over the itchy top. Now you will all be able to recognize me. I'll be the princess asking you to zip me up for photo ops. :rotfl2: Don't worry, its still rated PG with CWX tights and a sports bra.

Well I did it! Got my plane ticket, getting in a little later than I wanted Friday at 2:40, but what do you do? Hopefully the Mears Shuttle won't be a nightmare I was really hoping to do the expo on Friday, but whatever. This is the first time I have traveled alone in almost 8 years! What am I going to do with myself on that flight.....:cool1:

I am getting in later on Friday, too. I originally was coming in a couple days before but changed my dates because of Presidents Week crowds.

Now my daughter and I are driving in on Friday (7 hours) and will drive straight to the expo. I am HOPING to be there by 5 p.m.

I read earlier that you can download a program and waivers on the official site, it that this years program? I could not find either on the site.

Gettign so excited!!!!! I'm up to 11.5 and feeling good.

I know what you mean, I'm excited to be going on my own too! This is the first thing I've ever done on my own. Dh and I have lived together since we were 18, I always have kids with me, etc. I'm sooooo excited to be going by myself. Of course I'll be taking homework with me, but I'll get to pee without an audience, eat something besides leftover chicken nuggets, and stand in line without having to answer a million "why" questions. Oh yeah, and at some point in my trip I'll run 13.1 miles.:rotfl:

i can't WAIT to sit on the plane down to orlando! lol! i'm going to READ! i'm going to RELAX! i may even have a little bloody mary! it'll be so great to not have to worry about keeping my little guy entertained and pray that he doesn't have a screaming fit like he did the last time on the flight. we are leaving this sunday for a week in disney and i know dh and i will be a little stressed on the flight with the little guy.

but princess weekend? it's alllll me. and you know what? if every kid on that plane decides to cry? i will SO be ok with it! in fact, i promise to do my best to help out any family that has a screaming kid. it's so much easier to deal with a screaming kid when it's not your own!

and how fun will it be to go on rides that I want to go on? it will be hard to stay away from the alcohol when i'm walking around the world showcase but i'll be sure to head back after the run to get my fiesta margarita with medal proudly displayed.

ok, yeah, i will miss hubs and baby but i'm going to make sure to make the best out of the weekend :)

Can I just second (and third, and fourth) the happiness of doing this sans kids?!?! Don't get me wrong - I love to see my kids at WDW and the excitement and happiness. However...I love that this will be a girlfriends trip. And amen about getting to ride what you want to ride! The last 2 times I've been, I was pregnant, so no rollercoasters! My husband says we can't go back - when we first took DS1, I was pregnant with #2. When we first took DS2, I was pregnant with #3. He is afraid the trend will continue!!!:scared1:

Went to the craft store last night and found the perfect thing for my black tech tee. I was going to go plain, but all the talk of rhinestones riled me up! I was going for a Tinkerbell look but was pretty sure any wings I wore would get on my nerves (not to mention the faces of the people around me). But last night I found some iron-on rhinestones in a wing pattern that I will just put on the back of my shirt! So pleased!

We aren't getting in until 10pm on friday...because of work ...so friday is going to be a looooooooong day. BF and I work together and sometimes have a hard time getting several days off together since there are only 6 people in our department so we decided to go for Mon-Wed off and not ask for Friday and just get a flight after work. I would have liked to be at the Expo on Friday, but oh well...hopefully there will still be plenty of stuff left to shop for on Saturday!

Love this idea! I am not a fan of costumes to actually run in- I love them- but not for ME! But this is a cute option.

Does anyone who ran last year remember when it was that our bib numbers were posted? For some reason I keep thinking thety were posted before the race, but I'm not positive. And did it include our corral assignment as well, or just the number?:confused3

Bib numbers were posted prerace with your wavier release, but not corral. I have yet to get a email on wavier release info/printout, but the Princess Program is out...not posted on rundisney site, but email had a link.

I posted a few pages back...check out me and my DD on page 30 (that's actually the 2009 race)

I'm leaving after work on Friday also. I think my flight gets in at 10:30; I hope I can sleep on the plane because I want to be up early on Saturday! I'm saving my vacation so I can go to DisneyLand for the 1/2 in Sept. I'm hoping everyone else will be going to the expo on Friday so it wont' be too crowed on Saturday, I hate having to take time out from the parks.

I feel the same way.

At times I feel guilty that I am doing this by myself. Then I remind myself that I kinda earned it. We homeschool our kids so they are around 24/7 - to have a little break sounds amazing to me.

We were actually talking about doing the DL half yesterday! He's done it the last 2 years and said he would run it with me this year if I wanted to do it...but we want to also do the new Wine & Dine...or just go to the Food & Wine fest since we missed it in 2010...so we're trying to decide if we want to be really good the first part of the year to save $$ for 2 Disney trips a month apart or skip DL this year and go for it next year. Disney Decisions!

I deleted that email by accident is it possible to get a link to the program?

I really want that coast to coast medal... Luckly I am paying off my car this month so I'll have money to save; it is expensive to get to CA from VA!
The Wine & Dine looks cool since it's at night; I would so prefer that to getting up at 3am.

i would love the coast to coast medal too! i wish the DL half wasn't labor day weekend. that's so annoying! labor day in my neighborhood is a huge thing. it's like, bigger than christmas! we do weekend-long games, parties, etc and it is not to be missed. it's kind of a rite of passage for the kids to be in the races (running, swimming, potato sack, watermelon toss, etc etc etc) and we plan on it all year. poo.

it sure we be fun to have the coast to coast medal.

depending on this half marathon, i'm reeeeeeally thinking about doing the WDW full next year. am i totally nuts?? i haven't even run 13.1 miles let alone 26.2!!

Got in 3 miles today...definitely my Plantar Faciitis is back...and in my "good foot". I am officially doing the least I can and am making an appt with a sports med doc. I am afraid to go, but if I don't go am afraid I will do something stupid or bad.

My BF is doing his first full marathon next sunday here in Houston! I can say that the training for it is much more intense than for the half....more days a week, much higher mileage, etc. I mean, in his world right now, 9 miles is a SHORT run! :scared1: hahahahaha! That's nuts to me right now, but I think it was to him at one time too! At this point, I don't have any desire to do one...but he didn't either before he did his first half, so who knows what I might think in the next couple of years...but if I ever decided to do one, I'd want to do the WDW for sure! I'm trying to figure out how long it will be before he tells me he's going for the Goofy medal!
