Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Hmmm... I WAS just going to go plain black tee with the sparkle skirt, but I might not be able to resist the lure of the craft store. Iron-on rhinestones, you say? I might just be looking into that! Because, of course, I want to look good as I'm crawling over the finish line! :lmao:

Got home from work and my tutu box was waiting for me on the porch...is it weird that I'm 33 and twirling around my house in a tutu?
:rotfl2: No, not weird at all. At 46, I was doing the same thing in my sparkle skirt saturday and ds said to me with a look of horror on his face, "you're wearing that to my gymnastics?"

If you haven't tried the CW-X running tights, specifically the Stabilyx ones, they did wonders for my IT band and I had no issues with it during the Marathon - they are really great for that and I personally didn't get too warm running in them. The best treatment for IT band syndrome is rest and RICE but the tights are a great in between.

I agree with the rest part for sure (haven't tried the tights, but plan to get some and give them a go ASAP). My training plan came from Marathoning for Mortals. Thanks to facebook and twitter, I was in pretty close touch with mainly Jenny Hadfield, and she strongly encouraged me when my IT band flared up (she would say at ANY pain) to take three complete days off. Meaning if it hurt on Sunday, I rested Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday. Starting Tuesday (to use those days), if it was feeling ok I could do some specific yoga stretches (go to runnersworld.com and do a search...they have some great videos). And then on Thursday I could try things out again. Every time, that method worked and I was able to start back and not lose anything really.

I'd rather take the rest and let it heal than keep going and do more damage preventing me from running the race. But maybe that's just me.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I have read about the tights and may try thm later; but for now I don't have the extra $ so I am trying out KT tape. I looked up a bunch of stretching and strenghing exercies last night to start doing today, I'd like to prevent the problem from happening again as well as make it feel better now.
I hurt it on Sunday and my next run is Thursday so I have lots of rest time. I am swimming tonight, but I don't think it will hurt anything.

I just entered for this race when I saw the medal at the January expo and can't wait!:thumbsup2

I am training in the Florida Panhandle but in DeFuniak Springs. I had a friend that ran a 10K in Pensacola Beach last weekend. However, I didn't think I could make it there in time. Okay that's an excuse. I had taken a month off from running because of craziness in my schedule/life and didn't feel prepared to run a 10K. I am planning to run a 10K in Destin at the end of January. I just have to get use to the idea of finishing last. I looked at last year's times and they are all better than what mine will most likely be.

WOO HOO! You are in my part of the woods! I'm only about 45 minutes west of Destin. I had planned on doing the 10k this past weekend but a girl friend and I decided we didnt' want to get in the crowd so we ran together through downtown Pensacola.

I've gone to WDW so many times but I have never been to the WIde World of Sports:scared1: IS there a bus that runs from the resort to WWOS for packet pickup or will i need to get a cab?

The updated runtracker pro app also does intervals and is actually loud now...but best of all it is free for the entire month of January so I would recommend that one again...I had problems before with the volume not being great but this time around it has been a wonderful app and to have the full version for free...you can't beat it! :)

Where are you seeing that it is free? I may be looking at the wrong thing but the one I"m seeing is still $4.99. Would love to pick it up free if I can.

Got home from work and my tutu box was waiting for me on the porch...is it weird that I'm 33 and twirling around my house in a tutu? I don't want to take it off! :dance3: It's soooooo cute...a little puffy, but I expected that and had the lady that made it give me a few tips on how to remedy that on the particular style that I bought. Now just waiting on the last few iron-on rhinestone designs that I had made and the tiara pony tail holder and I'll be all set for my outfit...then all I'll have left to think about is those last few looooong runs to get through...oh and making sure everything I need actually ends up in the suitcase!

Not weird at all! I was jogging all over my house in my tutu. I was always a bit of a tomboy as a kid. Now I live with my DH and 2 boys, and I’m all about the girly stuff. Must be from living in testosterone-ville. The more pink and blinged out, the better!princess:

Did I read it correctly… did you design your own iron-ons? If so, would you post the link to the site? That is so COOL!

a couple I had custom made and a few others I just ordered from postings that the seller had already designed...I've ordered from several different people. Just google "custom rhinestone transfers" or whatever type of transfer you are looking for and tons will come up. Also, search the same key words on ebay.com and etsy.com...those 2 are where I found the sellers that I ended up ordering from.

I'm behind on my training by a lot. Today I ran 10k. It's the farthest I've ever run in my life. IN MY LIFE! I kept saying to myself "you've never stuck to anything in your life. People who are much bigger than you can do this. You're not tired, you're just lazy." And I fought through the mental block. I was my own Jillian Michaels lol.

I'm not a fast person, I'm not a skinny person. But man, to get over all my insecurities like that. I almost cried. I just wanted to share. :)

Remember to show yourself some love, too! You are doing an amazing thing and you should be PROUD!!!!!!!!!

OK, fellow Princesses, I am in major need of encouragement.

I think you have pre-race jitters. You've already proven you can finish with last year's race. If you can get to 10 miles before the race, you'll have it in the bag. Could you do 5.5, 7.5, 9.5, 10 over the next few weekends?

I believe you can cross that finish line! Forget time, ditch the idea that there's such a thing as walking "too much." Go for the finish. Finish = win -- and a stinkin' cute medal! :cheer2:

Thank you so much! I really needed to hear that, and I appreciate you taking the time to send such encouraging words!

Hi Everyone! I have not posted on here in ages...but I will also be running the Princess with you all. It will be myself, a friend I met on the DIS and now vacation with (hi Jude) and my DH.

I have found tutus for us but am concerned about the ones I like (they need to be altered a bit because they are not real big).

For those of you who have gotten a tutu, where did you get them from? If you are willing to share names of stores/websites....I would love to do a bit more research.

Thanks!
Jen

It looks like you're staying at an All Star resort, which since it's a host resort, yes, there will be a bus to take you to the Expo. There will be a stop set up for the expo buses, and for the race buses on race morning.

I just got my tutu in last night and LOVE it! I found it on Etsy.com...search for the seller "MTCoffinz" to find the "shop" where they are listed. Alot of her tutu's are geared to an "alternative" crowd, think raves, etc., but if you find a style you like, you can choose the color so you can make it a little more "princessy" than they look on most of the models in the photos she uses. Anyway, the tutu is great quality...the tulle is not scratchy at all and is sewn into a covered waist-band rather than knotted. I will say that it did take the full 2 weeks from the time I ordered until it shipped (I chose my own colors, so it was a custom order), which is noted on the listings...so just don't wait too long if you want to order from her. You can also just search "adult tutu" on etsy.com or ebay.com (or google it) and you'll get tons of choices! Happy tutu hunting!! :dance3:
