Hope this is okay. I wanted to share an article about running mantras that I found informative and inspiring. It's good timing as I needed the reinforcement.
I seem to naturally fall into using a mantra on particularly rough training runs (you can do this. you can do this.), but I've never approached them thoughtfully and deliberately. I think I'll try out a few in preparation for the Princess, though.
As I see it, my biggest hurdles are 1) starting too fast and 2) my head (negative thoughts on a loop).
I'm trying to train myself to maintain pace by (occasionally) consulting my Garmin and having it chirp at me for my run/walk intervals. And I want to come up with a couple of mantras for the race to help if/when my head starts getting in the way.
Does anybody already use mantras? Care to share?

I know it is not all that "positive" but sometimes I just need to remind myself that I have to do it!

Howdy stranger! So nice to see you!
Come see us on the BL princess thread.
and just keep talking myself thru it.

Of course I'll be taking homework with me, but I'll get to pee without an audience, eat something besides leftover chicken nuggets, and stand in line without having to answer a million "why" questions. Oh yeah, and at some point in my trip I'll run 13.1 miles.
Thank you Ellen Degeneres.
