Thanks everyone!!
At least it's my left leg, so driving isn't a problem!
I had some sharp shin pain about mile of the Chicago RnR half on Aug 1, and had a lot of trouble finishing the race (lots of walking).
At the time, I took about 4 weeks off, and when I started up again it seemed fine at first, but kept coming and going.
About 2 weeks ago I figured I really did need to do something about it or give up running, and made a vow to my husband and friends that I would have it checked out after the half.
Basically the main and only symptom is PAIN. It aches sometimes when I am not walking, but walking causes pain about halfway up the front of the leg. Feeling to either side (in the muscle area) causes no pain, but pressing on the front of the is somewhere between tender and pain.
I honestly wish I had had it checked out back in August and could have started the rehab then. This is my first year running so it was hard to tell what was overexertion soreness, and what was real injury soreness.

So sorry to hear about the stress fracture! This may sound dumb, but how did you realize that something was wrong with it and you weren't just "sore"? What did they do to tell that it was indeed a stress fracture? I did something on my leg and after a week of rest it felt better so I started back to jogging but now it feels like it is starting up again. I don't know if it's shin splints or worse.
