Well... you could always sign up with Team in Training and do Princess with them. It's a good chunk of fundraising, but everyone I know who has done a race with TNT can't say enough good things about the support and camaraderie.

I've never heard of them before. I just went to their site and signed up for info. Plus I watched the video. So I sign up through them, and people donate to LLS through me? But I still have to pay my entry fee/lodging/etc, right?

I was browsing the boards last night and came upon this thread. The more I think about it, the more I want to do this. And here's how selfish I am: I want to make a trip by myself. Dh and I are currently discussing (read: arguing because he won't just do what I want:lmao:) dates for our next trip. And the Princess would fall right into some dates that we're considering. But I want to go on my own. I want to take a trip, just me, stay in a hotel room, just me, and tour the parks, just me. No kids to feed, no feeling guilty about wanting to go on a ride that makes dh sick, no getting angry at how long it takes him to get ready in the morning (at his rate, HE's the one that should be running a "princess race":rotfl:)...just be selfish for once and do something for me.

But...then come the financials. But I really, really, really want to do this! (Cue temper tantrum here.:rolleyes1) I've never run a race before. But I know that even walking it, I can do this. If I start training now, I'll definitely be in better shape for the race. Hmm, I wonder if my friends would "sponsor" me, aka pay for my trip? I have 377 Facebook friends. Maybe they should all be kicking in $5 to let me have fun!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I HIGHLY recommend doing this solo! I just got back from doing Mickey's Halloween 5K by myself since DH became sick and couldn't come with me. Don't tell him-- but it was WONDERFUL. This too was my first race and it was a personal milestone-- and it seemed right doing it by myself. My DH was hugely supportive (despite the cost) because he has wanted me to "get in shape" and take better care of myself for years. This was his way of supporting/rewarding my effort to train and make the race. But then, we're DVC members so it wasn't as huge of a chunk of change as it could have been...

Good luck!

Well, from what I understand, you pay a fee to sign up ($100, maybe?) and then technically, everything else is covered by your fundraising, provided you meet your minimum. I've only got the info for triathlons, so I can't give you an exact cost, but I believe it covers everything, or usually, you can cut $500 off your cost if you book the flight yourself.

I spoke with some TNTers on the way to Wine and Dine this year and they had nothing but awesome things to say. One guy was on his 9th half marathon with them because he has such a great time.

Please forgive me if this has already been mentioned here, but does anyone know how much the discounted park tickets are? DH and I are thinking of going to the parks while we're down, and I remembered that we can get a discount, but wasn't sure how much! TIA!

For those of you who did the Wine & Dine this weekend and are now in doubt about doing the Princess, I can tell you that my experience with the Princess is infinitely better than my experience with the W&D. Even the inaugural Princess was handled more smoothly.

First, the runners are primarily women and there is much more comraderie on the course.

Second, it is a morning race so you show up much more rested.

Third, the course itself is much easier to navigate. Even the first Princess that had us only use the southbound side of World Drive seemed less crowded than any point on the W&D course.

Please don't let your experience this weekend stop you from doing this race!

Totally agree :thumbsup2

Though I would say if you're doing Donald in Jan, the course for that and Princess are the same.

I dragged myself kicking and screaming into the first Princess because I'm just sooo NOT a princess and I was protesting the elimination of the Minnie 15K...but I more than happily signed up for the second and now the third. It's laid back and fun, even though same course as January's race...it's just a neat atmosphere.

I too am going solo to the princess. It will be my first 1/2. I can't wait.
I will miss my girls. but I am so excited to do this on my own and just for me.
Plus with all the wonderful ladies from Dis, I know I won't be alone.

Discont tickets, I think a 3 day park hopper was $170 ish.

When I registered for the Disney Princess, I ordered a small shirt. Just wondering....how do the sizes run? I hope I ordered the right size.:confused3

They run a bit large. They said that the shirts run small but I think that they were just saying that because they gave me a medium and told me that they were mismarked. Whatever, just tell me you ran out of smalls.

Lol, ok, I should be ok.

I found a cute vinyl decal for my car. It's a Disney Princess Tiara with 13.1 inside of it. Found it on ebay and I bought one for my sister too. Hope she likes it. Now I am waiting to be able to buy a Princess in Training running shirt.:)

They ran small but the manufacturer mis-sized them and gave everyone a size up. They are women's cut, so I would order to size.

Granted, my left foot might be a size small, so I am in a different category.

Although I don't know if I am "in" for the race yet, I am joining this thread in hopes that it will happen. My DD's cheer team has to keep two weekends in February open, as they are not sure which competition we are doing yet. I am hoping it's not this weekend so I can come down and join my new WISH friends for this race! Is it usually closed by now? Wondering how much time I have left - I sure hope they decide soon! Ugh!

Don't know if you all posted this already, but Jeff Galloway added a Princess Half training schedule to the rundisney website. Half Marathons were not on there before the Wine and Dine - but now they are added with dates and all! He has the official training for the Princess Half beginning next week! Good luck to all!

I am waiting for the princess in training shirt too. Anyone know when they will be out?

I was looking at that yesterday and wonder if there's a typo in it. In the "improve time" training plan, the beginning text talks about weekday 45 minute runs, but then the schedule has 30 minute runs.

I'm a run/walker due to a heart issue, but I've never tried Galloway. I think I'm going to order his book just to see.

I've been reading up on TnT overnight, and it sounds like an awesome program! I hope they contact me today.

I talked to dh about the Princess last night, and about the possibility of TnT to help. He asked if I wanted to do this as part of our family vacation or by myself. I took a deep breath and said...by myself. I thought it would sound really selfish and obnoxious of me. He was totally supportive! I downloaded a Run Coach Pro app for my iPhone, and I still have 6 weeks before it technically starts for this race. That gives me time to brush up on the C25K and get ready. Oooh, I'm so excited!:cheer2:

I am waiting for the princess in training shirt too. Anyone know when they will be out?

Not sure. They were available last September for the 2010 race so I don't know why there would be a delay this time around. They did send out an e-mail the moment they were available so hopefully they will soon. I just looked at the Disneystore website and they still didn't have anything.

I have to say, after running Mickey's 5K this past Saturday, I am so psyched to train for the Princess!! I even ran/walked the 5K with a bad knee, but it was absolutely awesome! The atmosphere was even better than I expected, and I know they do the Princess up even more!

The only glitch is that the dr. told me yesterday I have bursitis in my knee, and we're doing an MRI today to make sure it isn't a stress fracture. I purposely went to a sports medicine doctor instead of an orthopedic since I think SM drs are more likely in supporting your activities and get you back out there, whereas my experience with ortho drs. is that they're quick to operate or just tell you not to do it anymore. The dr. yesterday was SO supportive of my run/walk efforts to get fit/lose weight. Once we get past this hopefully minor injury, she's going to give me preventive exercises, etc. I just hope it won't take to long. My slow self needs all the training I can get!

Regarding the Galloway text I was wondering also, I think I will email to see what the response is.

I want that tiara sticker for my minivan!

I ran 47 minutes straight today....which is the longest yet I have done. Wahoo, between that and my warmup walk I went 4 miles.....no record but hey, I am out there and making progress.

Gonna start the Galloway training next week. Anyone recommend any Ipod apps for this? I really enjoy being by myself when running so not sure I am going to do the group thing officially...... although there is something to be said for the accountability esp when it starts to get cold!

Wow got a reply already, they thanked me for the heads up...though didn't say which it was. Anyhoo, talk about a quick response, love those Galloway peeps!

Hello All

I am about to register for the Princess 1/2, and thought I'd see what the DIS Boards had to say about it. I've never run a Disney race (but always wanted to). The kids crazy school and competition schedules always get in the way. But not this time! I am very excited about joining my love of Disney with my love of running.

I have run 1/2's and full marathons in the past, but this one is special. It's not only my 40th birthday present to myself, but I'm bringing my Mom to Disneyworld for her very first visit! Woohoo! Mom/Daughter girls, ahem..."Princess" weekend together.

Any suggestions for her spectator location would be much appreciated (like, does she have to catch the bus waaaayy early too, if she isn't cheering until the finish). Can't wait to run with you all.
