Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

So, does the map that they hand out for the party show what rides are running?
I've decided (me, because DH doesn't care about the planning part) that we're going to have an early dinner at cosmic ray's at 5 before the party on (or that's the plan)..lol

But they have no parade. That was a deal breaker for me. The Boo To You parade is half of why we go. There is no better parade in all if Disney-Dom.

Totally agree. That parade is awesome! Everything from the grave diggers to the dead dancing couples to the band. And let us not forget that huge clucking chicken in the barn.:rotfl:

omg omg omg, I am finally done reading this whole thread. There have been so many things I have wanted to respond to, but now it's so far back I feel it's too late. To the person who asked about the short princess dresses, about 20 pages or so ago, I will be wearing a similar one. I am going as the red queen and it is a similar style to those that you posted, and I was thinking the same thing so I was glad that you asked. My DD will be Alice, a fun up to date one, DS will be jack sparrow. Still working on DH. Hard to find something that won't be too hot and that he will actually wear. He is a difficult one! Love seeing all the costume picks. Thank so much to everyone for all the help. It's our first time and we will be there sept 23rd!!

I recommend reading last year's 2010 MNSSHP tread on disboards too!

I will be there the on the 23rd too!!!! I'm dressing as Fifer Pig and my DCuz will be the Big Bad Wolf. I'll look for the Red Queen in a short dress w/Alice and Jack Sparrow! That's CAPT. Jack Sparrow! pirate:

You def need to go to Disneyland's one then, because they have Jack and Sally as Characters out and about... Granted Jack is sorta alien looking, and also they redo Haunted Mansion from October- December to be Nightmare Before Christmas and it is AMAZING... They also do Space Moutain Ghost Galaxy... That's a much easier trip!! :)

I am a DLR local, and I have to tell you (don't yell at me), I almost love HM more with the NBC overlay. I do love me some Jack Skellington though.

And something about Ghost Galaxy on SM freaks me out even more than the ride by itself.

I think it would be so cool if we ran into each other, or other DISers!! I will go around asking all the Fifer pigs " are you Denise?" and they will look at me like I am crazy, unless it is you of course! And I will have leggings on under my short red queen dress!!! lol Hope to see you there!!!

Also I did read through a whole thread on costumes and looked at pics of what people wore to previous MNSSHPs...still looking for something for him to wear. Oh well, it will come to me. I am so excited, I am going to buy all of our costumes (except DH's) tomorrow!!!

I live in FLORIDA, I'm not going to California just to see Jack & Sally. Besides, for their halloween party, they should have their halloween characters at WDW!

we are four adult friends and we are going as Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty...and eating at Whispering Canyon before and in Costume... we always have so much fun when we go in costume...but no..you will have just as much fun even if not in costume...but I say for the fun of it..even if you don't do a full costume come up with some creative shirts...that's fun too...:-)

Which party will you be at? We are also going as the Flinstones so I was just wondering if we were going to be at the same party.

Would he go as the Mad Hatter? They sell the Mad Hatter hat. If I see you I will say OMG are you BWARD?! Have you heard anything about wear lime green Mickeys with your Disboard name on it pinned to you or taped to your door? I read that once somewhere. Then you could find other disboarders.

I will have my fife with me and can play Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf too!!! And we are two adults!:banana:

Hello everyone. I currently have dinner reservations at 1900 Park Fare at 5:10 one the night that we have tickets to the Halloween party. Do you think we will have plenty of time to get to the park by 7:00?

Thanks in advance!

I asked him if he would go as the Mad Hatter and he said no, and I also didn't want DS to feel left out being the only one not in Alice in Wonderland theme. That is a good idea, about the lime green Mickeys and no I hadn't read about that.

You are funny! You have no idea how happy I was to have been done reading through over 300 pages of posts on MNSSHP, and finally be up to date on everything. I think it was around 1 or 2 in the morning when I finished, thats where the omgs came into play. Tired and excited.

I would love to hear you play that!

I am a first timer, and we have reservations at Boatwrights at 5. Everyone else says to eat earlier, but we are leaving our reservations as is, and I am sure we will be fine. I am debating whether to wear costumes to dinner or not!? Don't want to go back with a group of 15 of us to change and then make our way to MK. Also I am worried about dining in our costumes...hmmm what to do. We will have 7 children with us and 8 adults. I am pretty speedy about getting my kids ready, but the others...not so much! Would love to go right from dinner to MK. Are you dining in your costumes? Sorry, I just realized that I was of no help to you at all. Maybe someone else has better advice. :confused3

You should be fine. Most buffets take about an hour, to an hour and half at most. Then you just monorial over to the party. :)

I heard there are adding some new elements to the party this year at WDW, so let's hope so and let's hope they bring the party up a notch. I will not be returning if they don't.

I think this years party will have a bit more simply because Toon Town is now gone. That is one area that they need to make up for.

I agree with the other poster, I don't wanted Haunted Mansion changed over to NBC. If I want to see that i will take a flight to CA. Disney Hong Kong is different all around. I think it may be LurkyLoo? who has video of their opening ceremony, it's crazy there! And again, if i want to see that I will get a passport renewal and hop a plane.

I understand your passion but at the same time if they were all the same) the parks, parties etc.) why would anyone visit the other parks?

Totally agree, Just meant that it was much easier trip for NMBC stuff than going to Hong Kong! LOL!!!! :rotfl2:

Okay, can someone PLEASE tell me what the deal with Clara ( I think that's the clucking chicken's name) is?? I don't get it.... am I missing something!!

I won't yell, cause I'm totally with you. I adore it at Halloween, it is just soooo amazing. I do really love HM, but with Nightmare, it is truly something else. They really go all out and it is amazing!!!

Haven't been on Ghost Galaxy yet, we live in Oregon and are passholders to both Disney Parks on both coasts, but always go to Florida for Halloween. I think we are gonna be in Cali this year for work, so I may finally get to go to Mickeys Halloween Party, but have no plans of thinking it is better than MNSSHP... Because I don't think anyone could beat out MNSSHP... It is the BEST!

LOL!!!! I only meant it was closer than Hong Kong!!! Well if you are going on Sept 20th, we'll be dressed as Jack and Sally, so you can see us! :lmao:

Agreed! I do love NBC setup at DL, but I LOVE how they do HM at MNSSHP at WDW, with everyone all dead. It's awesome. Funny enough, about your last comment. I've been dying to go to WDW at Christmas time, and last year we finally did, gonna have to say, I think DL wins the Christmas time award. Besides the castle, I was not really very impressed with MVMCP, went once and that was enough. Now MNSSHP, I'd go every night if they offered that!! But very true, if everything was exactly the same, we'd never want to go to the other parks...

Hi! :) Is there anyway to find out if any of the MNSSHPs are sold out yet? Just curious. Thanks!:goodvibes

Go to the Disney website and try to add tickets to a shopping cart. It is early days, my money says none of the parties are sold out yet. Very few actually sell out except for those dates on or really close to halloween when the locals converge on the park.

The best idea I have seen for men like your DH is to wear a Hawaiian shirt and a lei (lay?sp) and shorts and go as a Hawaiian tourist. I'm so glad my DCuz is game to dress up as the Big Bad Wolf!!! He likes the villians. I like the pigs!

I know what you mean about reading ALLLLLLLLL the pages of a thread!

To others:

Disneyland is very special. After all it was Walt's orginal, personal project. It is cozy and intimate. It has some rides they don't have at WDW. I was there last year for Halloween and I really liked the way they did HM. Space Mt. was so-so. I will always have a special place in my heart for DLR (we were "born" within a month of each other and I used to live in Downey as a kid and my parents used to take me so I have fond memories). AND - it's the only place you can still get a Monte Cristo sandwich!!! ummmmmmmm

That being said........ I choose to go to WDW this year for MNSSHP! :rotfl:

I just purchased our tickets for the Nov. 1st party! I had been putting it off but finally bit the bullet, I didn't want to miss out by them selling out! Sooooo excited!!! :cool1:

So this may sound like an odd question, but where is the best location for the fireworks if one doesn't like the loud noise? Or should we just plan on skipping the fireworks & being inside a ride?

We've made the mistake of being caught in Tomorrowland when fireworks started once & was practically in tears before we got to Buzz. :sad1:
I like fireworks but from far away... like the beach at the Poly ;)

I haven't been there for the MNSSHP fireworks before, but we've found that the bridge in Frontier Land, near the place where the paths for Spash and Big Thunder meet, is greate for fireworks. It's never crowded, much quieter, and a great perspective. Sure, you lose the vantage point you get from Main Street, but in return you get a much quieter, peaceful expereince. Last December, there were so few people around for the MVMCP fireworks, that it felt like we had a private viewing. There was one family a little ways down the bridge, otherwise it was just us. Also, the fireworks reflect off the river when it's still - it is really a breathtaking sight!
