Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

I'm doing MNSSHP this year, I'm buying my tickets next week I just don't know which night is best to go..Should we do Halloween night (which falls on a Monday) or November 1st? I don't want to go when its crazy crowded so I was thinking November 1st, but then again I would love to be there Halloween night and I was thinking maybe the crowds wouldnt be so bad since its a Monday..Any advice?! And does anyone know how the crowds are in Disney at the end of Oct beginning of Nov? Thanks!

We never go to the MNSSHP on Halloween night since we save that night for HHN, but if the size of the crowd there is any indication, it's a busy night! Last year the HHN crowd was ginormous on Halloween night. I can only guess the crowd for MNSSHP on Halloween Night is busy as well.

DW and I & our friend just ordered our tickets for the Sept 30th party. It`s out till midnite then Disney cruise the next morning. What a way to start our cruise.:cool1: We will be pass out candy to the CMS cleaning our room lucky them :dance3:

We went to Party America today (they had customes 50% off ) Talked DS into being Peter Pan:told Keith that Peter Pan is Jakes teacher (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates) DD is still sticking with her Tinker bell but found her a really cute custome. Kids want Jeff and I to dress up as pirates, will see what I can find.

Tomorrow i have to make my list of to do's and write it down instead of keeping it in my head.

Count us in for the party on the 23. This will be our 2nd party, which is a surprise to our 8 yr old. I am soooo excited!

I agree! We will be getting off the Dream that morning, then we will head to the comp resort to relax and have an early dinner. E will be in line at 4pm to enter the party.

I think this is why many people give the advice not to do ANYTHING else during the day of a party. That way everyone's rested or can even nap if they need to.

I asked my niece the other day what she wanted to dress up as for the party, she said she wanted to wear the Halloween dress I made her last year.

Oh well, I guess thats saves me making another dress. I was kind of looking forward to dressing up in a costume. I guess I will just wear my matching Halloween dress too!

If this has already been posted and I overlooked, I'm sorry.

We are going on September 16th. How is the weather at night normally? I want to plan my kids' costumes so they don't sweat to death or freeze. Thanks in advance!!

Plan on being hotter than cooler. September is still very warm in Orlando and it would be rare to need cold weather costuming. Definitely plan for it to be hot and sticky and plan costumes to that type of weather. It is always easier to apply layers if needed (very doubtful you'll need to) however it is not so easy to take more off. ;)

Have fun!

Sept is often thought of as the hottest month of the year there. We were there the last week of Sept last year and nearly melted. Choose costumes without sleeves or heavy fabrics, it was hot enough for tank tops and shorts even at 11pm.

What are the crowds usually like for the last party in September? I'm talking in relation to a normal day at the park. What about for MK on the day of the marathon, which is Saturday, October 1 this year, a day after the party.

We're figuring that we won't necessarily ride anything during the party...just hang out, trick or treat, and get pictures with the characters. We'll spend Saturday hitting the decorated rides and our favorite rides that we weren't able to get at Disneyland this summer.

Thanks for your help! I can't wait!:banana::banana:

Parties the end of September won't sell out, but will be very well attended. The rides typically don't have long lines, even at a sold out party. Your waits will likely be with the characters, especially with anyone exclusive to the party or in special party attire.

There really aren't any rides at WDW that are decorated for Halloween.

Which really stinks because I would love it if they did what they do at Disneyland. Ghost Space Mountain would be so awesome.

I have a question that maybe only the self-proclaimed ticket guru can answer. Since Military discount tickets are only available for purchase at the ticket window, not for pre-sale, what happens then if one of the Sept. dates actually does sell out ahead of time. Does Disney hold back some tickets for Military families in the event of a sell out? We are planning to attend Sept 27th, and I would be VERY upset if we get there on the 24th and am unable to get party tickets, when the Military discounts are only available for Sept. dates.

September dates shouldn't sell out. Anyone ever hear of a September date selling out?

September crowds are low for the party. Very manageable to get everything you want to do in, plus ride some rides. We thought it was the perfect time to go. :thumbsup2

Also, don't forget that 10/1 is MK's 40th anniversary and while they haven't announced anything in the way of a celebration, I'm sure there will be a lot of people going to the MK that day just for that reason (we are, lol!).

Regarding Sept parties, some did sell out in the past.
In 2006 (all sold out in Sept), 2007 (only the first one), and 2008 (the last one in Sept).

I didn't think there was a history of them selling out, but I am just a little nervous because all of the resorts are at or near capacity for the last week of Sept, even at rack rate, I'm assuming because of free dining. We went the same week last year and it was smooth sailing, but this year, we were planning on going in Oct and due to a snafu with my husband's leave request, we are back to Sept. When I called to change our reservations I was stunned at how little was available resort wise. So this year I am a little nervous.

The wine and dine half marathon is scheduled for the last weekend in September....which is probably why the hotels are almost booked! The race itself is SOLD OUT!!!
