Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

Three sitdown meals with a toddler seem like alot, but that is just my opinion - you know your little one best. As far as the night of the party, I would not do a TS that might cut into party time, especially since you have to travel to MK after dinner. The part tickets are expensive, so I won't spend a minute of it traveling or dining. We usually get to MK around 4, get a quick CS and then get in line for photos at 6:30. After that we are ready to go.

We always eat dinner at Cosmic Ray's during the fireworks on party night. We sit out on the patio and watch while we're eating, so that way we're knocking out eating while we would just be sitting still watching fireworks and are usually finished by the time they're over.

Oh wow! Wifey and I were talking about doing Cosmic Ray's this year for dinner...what a great idea! :thumbsup2

We are going to the party on Oct. 25th but staying for the week. This is our first time at Disney! My question is could we see the fireworks from our hotel (Poly) on another night that the party is offered? Is there a difference between wishes and the halloween fireworks? Is there still music piped in for the Halloween fireworks?

Thanks so much! My first ever post:)

We just happened to be on the beach at Fort Wilderness last year when the MNSSHP fireworks were going on, and the music was piped in there. It was different music/fireworks with a more spooking halloween theme. We enjoyed the FW more than we ever have before because we were lying in lawn chairs in total quiet with no distraction.

Need opinions!! We will be in Disney World the last week of September. We are debating heading to MNSSHP, but don't know if our toddler will really enjoy it. He will be 21 months and LOVES Toy Story. Our plans for that day look like this:

8am--Chef Mickey's
12pm--The Plaza Restaurant
5pm--dinner at Cape May Cafe (we are staying at Beach Club and figured we would leave MK at 1pm, have son take his three hour nap, get some dinner and head back to MK)

What is your experience with taking a toddler?? Did they enjoy it?? We would be going on Tuesday, September 27th. Thanks!!

We'll be taking our 20 mo old (and 4yo) and took them both (then 8m and 3) last year. We all had a blast! My young son obviously didn't understand it all but it was still fun and my 4.5yo is really looking forward to the party. We did stay until midnight as there is so much to do its hard not to. The baby napped in the stroller for an hour or two around his normal bed time, then was up and ready to go well until we got back to the resort lol. My then 3.5yo fell asleep in the stroller on the way home.

We are planning our MNSSHP a lot differently this trip though. We've left the entire day open to relax and nap at the resort. We have a 9:45 breakfast at Chef Mickey's and the rest of the day we plan to just hang around the resort, swim, and for everyone to take a nice afternoon nap before we put on our costumes and head over!

I do agree that you have a lot of sitting/meals that day, and more so that is a ton of food. We found the days we ate TS for breakfast we were pretty much done until dinner, but then we're not big breakfast people so DH and I at least are not used to eating in the mornings.

We're staying at the Poly this trip and one of the big draws was a (relatively) quick escape after the halloween party on the monorail. I'm really hoping they have them running for the party.

I'm doing MNSSHP this year, I'm buying my tickets next week I just don't know which night is best to go..Should we do Halloween night (which falls on a Monday) or November 1st? I don't want to go when its crazy crowded so I was thinking November 1st, but then again I would love to be there Halloween night and I was thinking maybe the crowds wouldnt be so bad since its a Monday..Any advice?! And does anyone know how the crowds are in Disney at the end of Oct beginning of Nov? Thanks!

We are doing a surprise trip sept.- oct specifically for MNSSHP. This will be our first one. Now I just have to figure out how to sneak costumes into the house and pack everything without the kids asking us questions. ;)

We went to our first and only MNSSHP 2 years ago when my youngest had just turned 4 and my twins were just shy of 6. We did not plan well at all that year!

We had gone to Epcot during the day and went to MK for the party without a rest in between. My kids lasted 2 hours at the party tops and they are usually night owls. The twins fell asleep in a double stroller while I had to carry the youngest. It was a disaster because I felt like we paid so much money to attend and I wanted to get the most out of it but dh finally convinced me it was time to leave when my son started snoring!!!.

So for those of you with little ones, I strongly recommend taking a break during the day. We are going back to WDW this year and I'm still debating whether or not we should attend the party.

I think this is why many people give the advice not to do ANYTHING else during the day of a party. That way everyone's rested or can even nap if they need to.

:cool1:

So excited! Have just booked our tickets to MNSSHP for the 13th September. It will be our second time and I just can't wait, it was probably my favourite night of our last trip.

Now I just have to decide what to have for my costume... I really want to go as Giselle with her homemade curtain-dress, but I can't sew and can't find one that I can justify buying :rotfl:

Only 40 days to go until we are heading back :cloud9:

I'm going as Fifer Pig. I just bought my pig ears, nose and tail and my sailor hat. I need a white collar and a yellow bow and figured I could wear a black shirt and pink pants. I have a fife but, need to make sure I can play "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf".

But - I was looking at the pictures from last year and did not see any adults dressed up!! This is my first MNSSHP and I don't want to look like a dork. I'm trying to talk my DCuz into dressing as a Big Bad Wolf and he will not be happy if he is the only adult male in a costume.

BTW I am not worried about getting back to my car at the TTC after the party. I'm confident Disney will get me there by boat or monorail and not leave me in the park overnight. (I wish!)

That is why we are not doing anything this year, we are sleeping in, going to DTD to shop/lunch and then head back to rest/nap on that Tuesday..on the FRI , when we go again (we always do MNSSHP 2x) we are hitting AK in am for breakfast and maybe a show and a few characters BUT thenit's outta there by noon for rest and napping at the hotel until 4pm entry.
BTW we ar all adults too, but we need our rest

Last year we went to a September party and DH, my (then) 3yo and myself were dressed as scarecrows and my baby was our pumpkin... Honestly we almost got cold feet heading over to the party but in the end I am so glad we dressed up! It was a lot of fun and we got a lot of compliments. More adults were not dressed up than were, but there were still a lot of adults in costume :) This year we're doing a pinocchio theme - DH Gepetto, 4yo Pinocchio and my toddler will be Jiminy Cricket leaving me with the blue fairy. I have my reservations about prancing around WDW in a foofy tulle skirt and fairy wings (too hot for a long dress true to the movie!) but I'm also looking forward to it and know we'll have fun :) It really does complete the night and even though we were nervous at first we were so glad we dressed up in the end! You will be too - its a lot of fun :) Just adjust your costumes for the heat!

Adults dressing up just add to the fun! Why should CM's and kids get all the fun? DD21 will be going as Dumbo, DD20 as Pinocchio and I will reuse my Ursula costume. (thank goodness for free luggage on Southwest!)

DH was making reservations for our trip and asked about the entrance time for the party. He was informed that we would not be allowed to enter until 7 on party days. She said in the past they had allowed entrance at 4, but that it wouldn't be happening this year. What???? We'll have a few parties ahead of us, so we'll see...

That happens every year. Don't worry about it. The phone CM's never tell you 4 PM.

Have your DH take the kids out to the zoo or the park for the day! :)
