Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

We plan to go to the Oct. 7th party! It'll be our first MNSSHP but we've been to the Pirate & Princess party and MVMCP. We're soooo excited to experience Halloween Disney-style!:cool1:

I'm thinking about going Sept 30th. I wasn't planning on it since this is only a short trip for the 1/2 marathon. But this thread (and last year's) is convincing me I cannot miss this! We've done the DL/DCA version for the past 5 years on Halloween night and love it. I'm so excited to see how WDW's version is. I've heard about it for so long now, especially the parade. I'll be there solo this time so I hope I don't feel to out of place!

Hi! We're looking to go Friday September 30 or Sunday October 2. On scales of 1 to 10 (10 being New Years Eve busy, 8 being July busy, 1 being max 5 minute lines for everything busy), what would those days be?

Thank you!

Also are there specific posts (other than the 1st) that would be helpful to read? I'm trying to do searches and skim, but there's a lot here! We just got back from DLR, and DH has decided he wants to do one more WDW trip before DD turns 3 and starts costing to take.

I think the restriction on weapons is that they don't want items in the park that could be mistaken for a weapon (for security and safety reasons). Replicas of swords and firearms come to mind. I am sure lightsabers are fine, but if the blade doesn't retract all the way, it could become cumbersome by the end of the night.

Judging by the parade video that was just posted, it looks like Peter Pan is the exception to the rule. Even Hook keeps his sword sheathed, but Pan gets to carry his dagger and throw it about 5 ft over his head!! :goodvibes

Where can you get that? I want one! ;)

They have actual light saber replicas at Hollywood Studios in the gift shop by Star Tours, but they sell light up sword thingies that look at lot like them at MNSSHP, along with tons of other light up necklaces and headbands and stuff. Look for the castmembers pushing the carts around the parks, they are very popular around parade and fireworks time. I personally love the light up skull necklace that looks like it is jawwing at you. It's not small, it's kind of like walking around with Flava Flave's clock around your neck.

Just bought me and DD "Nightmare before Christmas" t-shirts. Yes, I realize Christmas, but they have the look of Halloween.

We are not into costumes. ;)

Just found out this past week that we're going back to WDW at the end of September. The first thing out of Squeaker's mouth when we said we were going back was that he wanted to go to the Halloween Party! We're planning on attending the Friday, September 23 party.

Can someone post a link for buying the party tickets with the AP discount? I could not find anything.

We've decided on our costumes for 10/31 party. We're going as Power Rangers. Power Rangers with poor eyesight because we both wear glasses. :thumbsup2
I'm totally getting my face painted. Anywhere in DTD or MK where I can get my face painted in early afternoon before the party?

Made it to post 300 and gave up so sorry if these are repeated questions:

is there a newbie guide for those us going the first time? Do's, Don'ts, What to Expect? For instance, I know that the villains will be around. Are there interactions - photo and autograph opportunities? Also, should we book at TS meal in the park that night or will we miss out on something? Thanks so much for the guidance.

The villains will come down in front of the castle right after each of the shows. Photos only, no autographs.

Most people eat before hand as there isn't much open during the party and unfortunately for the TS places that are open in the MK everything is probably already booked. Those reservations go reeeeeeally quick. Counter service places are limited to a couple of snack shacks like Aloha Isle, and Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland and Pecos Bill's in Frontierland, and even those don't stay open for the whole party.

Personally, I wouldn't eat during the party, there is too much to do.

The best advice I could give a newbie is that the late parade is always less crowded than the early one, and if the "ghost" castmember who sits outside the Haunted Mansion isn't out while you are there, WAIT FOR HER! She is fantastic.

Also, the best photopass pics to be taken are in front of the carriage at the Haunted Mansion, and at Cinderella's Carriage in Fantasyland. If you want a pic in front of the castle line up way early. The line is looooooooooooong.

Hey all! I am super excited to report that our group has decided on costumes for the party! We will be in Disney for our wedding, and will do MNSSHP the day after we say "I do!". Back to the costumes...DF and I had already decided that I will be going as Alice and DF will be the Mad Hatter. However, some of the other people who will be attending the party with us are going to dress up too! My future MIL will be the Chesire Cat, DF's sister is going as the Red Queen, and my future nephews (ages 9 and 11) will either be playing cards or Tweedle Dee/Dum. SO EXCITED!!! :cool1:

Good to know! Can you still treat or treat after the last parade?
