Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

It looks like we will be in the area for this year's MNSSHP for the first time - yay!! DS is looking at U Tampa and their open house is 10/16. I am a little confused though...the Disney Parks blog last week listed the following:

Mickey’s Halloween Party Dates and Times

Select Mondays/Tuesdays, Fridays & Halloween night: September 30, October 3, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28, 31
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/page/2/

So, I thought I would buy tickets for the 14th (Friday night). Went on wdw website and they list the party as the 13th (Thursday). I guess the Disney Parks blog got the date wrong??? I could go Thursday 13th as we got some great SW fares for that day...just seems weird that it was blogged incorrectly.:confused3

Mickey's Halloween Party is at Disneyland Resort (Anaheim)

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is at WDW/MK

But looks like neither have parties on Oct 14. Hope you can make it on the 13th or 16th!

That's exactly what I was thinking. Going for an MK morning, leaving pretty early to rest/get changed into costume, then come back for an early dinner and then MNSSHP (and the dwarves are RIGHT at the top of my to-see list, so that's exactly where we'll be going! :rotfl:). Anyway, I totally agree. That sounds like pretty much the perfect birthday to me. :cloud9:

We weren't able to find many tables available that week. Hurry.

DATES for MNSSHP are a bit different for the different parks, make sure you know what park a person is referring to when replying to them. There party schedules are also different.

Anyone planning dressing up like?

I think these characters would be different:

Hugs A Lot
Lady Tremaine
The Sherif of Nottingham
A young Cruella
A pretty Maleficient (green skin can be pretty lol)
That rich white girl from Princess & Frog
The Mayor from NBC
Shock, Lock and Horror from NBC (it would be perfect if you had one girl and two boys)
The voodoo woman from Princess & Frog
Hades from Hercules

Anyone you'd like to see or interesting character you plan to dress up as?

Catch me as a pretty and comfy dressed Drizella in a Turqiouse casual dress, bright green puffy sleeve bolero shrug and flats and hair and makeup stylized like her. It's florida after all, im not wearing a full ball-gown. I think the color scheme will show through.

Just to add to your list, I think the shadow man from Princess & Frog would be pretty cool, or how about any of the "roughians" from Tangled?

We went to MNSSHP in early Oct. 09. It was a record heat that year and so many people looked miserable in their heavy costumes. Luckily, we were dressed as pirates-in lightweight clothes, so we were ok. So, I'd keep that in mind when planning your costumes.

We're going this year, late October and hoping for no heat wave, LOL. I had a thought about costumes yesterday, and I'm wondering if we could pull it off. I thought we might dress as some of the kids from the Its a Small World ride. I wonder if people would "get" it?

Other costumes we're thinking about:
Ninjas
Cowboys
Jessie, Woody, Mr and Mrs Potato Head
Hercules characters-gods and goddesses

I really really really want someone to dress as The Mayor from NBC, and come with us!!! We always go as Jack and Sally and we've been dying to have someone be the Mayor, (there is actually a pretty good already done costume on costume sites) and someone else as Oogie Boogie to go with us. Unfortunately, I have no takers yet!!! We saw an aweseome family with Oogie Boogie last year. The dad made their costume, it was AWESOME! The mom was Sally and the little boy maybe 10 was Jack. I ran after them to take their picture!!! LOL!!!

They will if you spend the entire night singing 'It's a Small World' over and over and over and over and......

Looks like you and I are on the same MNSSHP schedule. We were there in '09 too for the record highs. Wasn't it miserable? (But being there totally made up for it!) Love the idea for your small world costumes!

I'm planning on the very first one this year, Sept 13. That shouldn't be too crowded. Right?

It's his first trip to WDW and my first Halloween Party! He's going to be a power ranger. I have no idea what to dress up as though.

I'm booked for POR Sept. 23-30! My first MNSSHP! I'm going with my DC (Disney Cousin). I'm trying to think about the potential heat when it comes to costumes but, would like to do something. I'm trying to get my DC to be a Big Bad Wolf and I could be Little Red Riding Hood w/just a cape and a basket or one of the 3 Little Pigs!

Loved reading last years thread. Can't wait to see the popcorn containers this year and find out where the characters are with Toone Town gone.....

76 days to go!

We are staying at the Fairfield Orlando Near Universal Studios and will be attending the MNSSHP. What is the best way to get to and from the hotel to the party? We will have a car so we can drive and park, however I thought I would check to see if there are any other options other than driving. Any suggestions?

Also, still debating which party we should go to - Sunday Oct 23 or Thursday Oct 28. We would like the light crowd option as this is our only visit to Disney this trip and want to be able to maximize our time. Your opinions? pirate:

Sad thing is that many times with the mnsshp the popcorn containers are not always there for the first parties. They don't want them sold out so far in advance of hallowed , I think that was the reasoning I read. Maybe this year will be different.
