Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

WooHoo for this thread!! Finally talked my hubby into me buying tickets last week (not just IM-patiently waiting for them)

Hurray for you! Now all the fun planning can really begin. My DH stays home most trips (we have a business to run and he takes solo trips to visit family in Brasil), but as soon as I got super cheap tickets on Southwest with 2 free suitcases each with space to pack costumes, he insisted we go to the party. Shhhh, we were going anyway :rolleyes1, but he doesn't need to know that. We are soooo excited too!

ok, DH finally sat down and narrowed down costumes..now I have to decide between Peter Pan/Tink or Jack/Sally...decisions decisions decisions

Last year the only two that sold out were 10/31 and 11/1 parties

Does anyone remember when these parties sold out (or at least when we found here)? We went to the 11/1 party last year and I purchased tickets in early August (I believe) but I don't recall knowing it was sold out until we got there and saw the sign.

We are planning on going on 11/1 again. I was hoping to wait and get the tickets mid September, but don't want to be shut out of it either.

(Sort of OT, but we thought the crowds were very manageable, even though it was a sell out. We watched Hallowishes from Main Street- arriving maybe 10 minutes before and sitting wherever. We watched the 2nd parade, near the Ice Cream Parlor, and were 2nd row, arriving 15 minutes early (but missed the Headless Horseman).)

csn you rember what the weather was like?,how hot?. Weare going to be there 17th to the 27th of Sept.

Last year I was there on 9/25 and that weekend was HOT!! It was in the 90s for the whole weekend. On party night I wore nurses scrubs with a Winnie the Pooh Halloween theme (which my mom then wore to work for Halloween) thinking that I would be okay with the temperature- I ended up rolling up the pants to make capris because it was so warm. It was still fun, we just drank more liquids and sat down occasionally. We're going the same weekend this year (9/23 party!!), and I'm planning a shorts-and-tshirt costume to beat the heat. It was a blast, but keep an eye on what they're predicting for weather and plan clothes accordingly. Have fun!!!

YAY! Just picked a date for at least one MNSSHP this year! Going on Sept. 23 with college friends! My favorite time to go to MK. I was listening to the music earlier today, getting myself in the mood :)

I searched thru quite a few threads from 2010 saw mention of those 2 dates selling out but do not recall any mention of when they sold out

Sorry

Thanks! I looked too and couldn't find anything either (but I don't always have good luck with the search function).

I am hoping someone reading this thread will recall when it happened last year :flower3:

ETA: I did stumble across the 2010 planning thread and it was reported on 9/23/10 that the 10/31 party had sold out. Still looking to see if anything ever posted about the 11/1 party on that thread...

So excited, we've been to Christmas party twice, but never been during Halloween time frame. This year in June we moved to Tampa, though, so it is too easy NOT to go. My birthday is 10/20, and the kids are off school on the 21st so I think that would be a perfect way to celebrate.

Good to know it sold out later in September. :thumbsup2

I am planning on going 10/21 and really would like to wait to buy our tix.

Sally costume, but am wondering if I want to be dressed like that in the heat (especially with a wig), so am maybe just going to wear a tail and ears. DH so far is saying he isn't dressing up, but we'll see;)

I have enough hair on my head for 2 people. When I get hot, the first thing to "perspire" is my head. I work a wig for MNSSHP and it didn't bother me more then just my own. I got DD a long curly wig for her Esmerelda costume and it's really pretty thin, but you can get the idea of what we are going for.

I'm really concerned about the heat, so I don't think our "costumes" will be any more than t-shirts or football fan attire!

Just noticed my trip is now in under 60 days!! YAY.

We're there the same time. Are you flying Southwest, we may be on the same flights home, LOL.

We were there the same week last year and it was ridiculously hot. The only thing caveat is that if it storms in the early evening before the party, (which is fairly likely), the temperature dips quite a bit but the humidity remains. Its just enough to make you kind of uncomfortable in whatever you have on, LOL. You'll still have a good time. We're going to the party on the 27th.

We went to our first MNSSHP last year and we all LOVED it! We're going again on Sept. 20th and I absolutely cannot wait. :woohoo: DD2 (almost 3) is going to be Rapunzel. I know there will be a lot of little Rapunzels running around, but DD loves to pretend she's Rapunzel and constantly quotes the movie so I know she'll have a blast. We have everything except I still need to order a Pascal stuffed toy. I'm not sure if DH will dress up as anything but I would like to. Just something simple and comfortable. :)

I just got one of those passholder pamphlets today in the mail and it had a page about MNSSHP. There was no mention of any new characters :( but it did mention 13 treat locations, with chocolate, taffy and hard candy. Either disney is keeping new characters under wraps or there is no new characters and I will be dissapointed!

SWW if free with admission and Disney gives people a lot for regular days admission! Geez Disney >.<

DH could have an iron on of Flynn on his shirt and you could have Pasqual. I'd hate to suggest the "Mother". Or even her parents. It could be cute to tie you all in together.

Did it say how many character interactions there will be?

OR

Does anyone know how many character interactions there were last year? (signing ones, I'm trying to make an autograph book and aI'd like to know how many MNSSHP pages to add!

My two kids (ages 13 and 15) and I are flying in around midnight on the 31. We were thinking of sleeping in, and then going to MNSSHP on Nov. 1...its last night (our first day).

Does this sound like a good idea? I probably need to decide pretty quickly if that night sells out, which it sounds like it does.

Thanks. :goodvibes

no, i didn't mention all of them, just the 7 dwarves and mickey & friends dressed up in halloween costumes. it was an overview. that's why I'm hoping they are keeping new characters a secret for now.

Here's the list for last year, http://unofficialdisneycharacterhun.../09/mickeys-not-so-scary-halloween-party.html
I wouldn't expect to see them all & hopefully they will have some new characters.

do they like Disney? Do they want to met any characters?

When I was there age I liked Universals or Bush Gardens scarier parties, I still do, but I'm going this year to MNSSHP with my 4yr old neice. I probably won't be going anymore after this year though, unless I have my own kids, & I don't want kids. The fun aunt is more...fun :goodvibes
