OFFICIAL 2010 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) Tips and Tricks

Will it be too cold for shorts and a sweater? I am going on 11/30. What do most people wear? Christmas outfits? What about kids - do most dress up in Christmas theme clothing? Thanks!!

I knitted the family scarves in Christmas colors. Was trying to finish some leg warmers for DD/17 but I am only 3/4 done with one and we are leaving in 4 days! :headache: Don't think I will get the other done. I just learned to knit about 2 months ago.

I have seen people in Mickey Christmas ears and some wearing Christmas shirts/sweaters. It really depends on what you want to do. If you want to dress up then I say do it! :thumbsup2

Don't miss the Wishes Dessert Buffet. What a wonderful way to enjoy the fireworks. I loved the assigned seating, very relaxing!

I had decided against this because I heard it was standing room only! Do you really have a place to sit down, because I might just change my plan...:confused3

Everyone has an assigned table, but when the fireworks start, lots of folks stand up against the front wall.

Does anyone think the 5th will be sold out??? We were waiting until we got closer to check the weather before we bought...there are NINE of us, so a hefty investment!

Nine of us going that night, too!! I guess I'll go ahead and get tickets this week now that I'm paranoid.

Just got back tonight. Literally walked in the door. Went to the 11/19 (last Fri) party and it was crowded. Start of the Thanksgiving week.

Report:

Drove 7 hrs, got into Orlando at 12:00. Checked in and into MK by 2:00. Early dinner at 4:20 at LTT. Perfect pre-Thanksgiving meal! Finished by 5:30. Was told to go to Tomorrowland for the wristbands. Get wristbands 1st entrance into Tomorrowland, then look to your left. Asked the guy there when the castle lighting was, said it was 6:30. Wrong! Good thing I decided to stick with the 6:15 reported on Disboards, because it was over by 6:23. Hot cocoa and cookies in Tomorrowland Terrace and Liberty Square; look for the lighted blow up lightpost that has pic of hot cocoa and cookies, same pic as on map. They were handing out 2 cookies per person. Cookies were more of a shortbread butter cookies as opposed to sugar cookies I first thought. You get about 4-6 oz cup of hot cocoa. Kids loved that.

More people than the MNSSHP I went to in September. After castle lighting walked fast and got in line for the dwarves by 6:30. Guessing 20 people ahead of me? Got to the dwarves about 7:15. Cute with the scarves. Photopass was there. Line wrapped a u turn by the time we got out of there. Got pics and autographs of 2 of the 4 country bears I wanted.
Line was too long for Lumberjack Donald. They started roping the area for the parade and the characters disappeared. Kids were by now begging to go on rides. Went on pirate cruise. Saw Capt. Hook & Mr. Smee but didn't stop. Then the kids wanted hot cocoa and cookies then and there. Best plans can be laid to waste! Didn't even make it into Adventureland for the characters there. Caught the parade at Frontierland, not a bad spot. Parade was about 40 min.

Headed over to Toontown; Winnie and Piglet were at the entrance and line was very long also. By then it was 9:00. Got in line for the princesses. Line was longer than the Fairies. We got in just as the 9:30 fireworks started so we missed that. DH left me to run outside so he can watch the fireworks. Then, No Belle! Got pics and autographs of the 3 princess & princes. Asked 'bout Belle, was told 10:00 will be out. Wasn't going back in line again! We got outside to meet up with DH
, then he proceeded to tell me all I missed when we got out, drat!

Headed to Mickey & Minnie's, got pics with them. Took pics of Mickey's house decorated inside and out. Went past the Toontown entrance and saw the Winnie the pooh characters had switched over to the other two, I forget which. Line was too long so didn't go. Went back to the castle hub; 10:30 parade was going by. Definitely longer and more elaborate than the MNSSHP parade we saw in September. Family now prefers this parade over the Boo to You Parade. Finished watching it. DH took DS to Space Mtn. Standby 10 min.

We hung around to watch the last castle show that's posted 11:15. By then not many people were around. Family sat in the front while I went and got more cocoa and cookies. Settled in and watched the show. DS was literally falling asleep in a sitting position so we decided to head on out. Quick look thru Emporium; bought a MVMCP tinkerbell pin. Didn't see any specialty shaped popcorn bucket; just popcorn tins found during the day. Snow down on Main street. It was elbow to elbow leaving at 11:45. Took ton of pics of wooden soldiers just before we left, and of the candy garden I guess where Santa hangs out during the day. Got back to resort by 12:30.

My focus was characters but unlike the MNSSHP I didn't accomplish as much as I thought. It was arrival day and I didn't anticipate the kids wanting to go on rides unlike the MNSSHP which was later in the week after MK day where we got all the rides in. Didn't realize the frontierland characters would disappear sooner than thought due to the roping of the parade and the actual parade. They appear and disappear not altogether too. Overall, still had a great time and would do it again next year. Really missed Scrooge; heard Fantasyland expansion kicked him out- probably be back next year. Only in the parade this year.

This has probably been answered somewhere on the forum, but how many tickets constitute a sold out party? We have tickets on the 19th and was just wondering if we should wear full battle gear!!!!:rotfl:

Disney doesn't like to devulge that sort of info but it is somewhere between 25,000-30,000 tickets sold. Used to be less but has increased a couple times over the years.

How early can you enter the park for the party?! I just spoke to the rudest guy ever on 1800WDISNEY who said that the tickets say 7 and so it's 7. At Halloween we got to go in at 3, just wanted to clarify!
THANKS!!!

4 PM but some have gotten in a bit earlier.

4pm is what has been circulating the boards and sites so far. But, if you have a park hopper for the day that you are going, you may want to get in a little earlier, so you are already in when you get your wristband instead of in line on the outside.

At what time can regular MK guests start getting wristbands? Is the only "in-park" distribution near Stitch?

Can anyone tell me if the Rusty Cutlass Pirate Band still play at MVMCP? It appears that, as recently as last year, they played MVMCP. Thanks!

Does anyone have any photos or know what the new Christmas borders look like? :santa:
