OFFICIAL 2010 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) Tips and Tricks

Ok... A week and a 1/2 left til I'm at the World and I'm giving myself an ulcer. :scared1: I booked a 5:15 Crystal Palace ADR months ago, for the night that we have MVMCP tix (cuts down on the stress if we're already there). Now, I'm hearing that they do the lighting of the castle at 6:15. With the horror stories that I've heard about some ADR's not being seated until 30-45 min after their appointed time, I have the panic that I won't be able to see the lighting. This is my first trip during Christmas season and I don't want us to miss a thing. :santa:

As luck would have it, I was able to get an ADR for Crystal Palace in the 2pm hour, but hear they switch over for dinner at 3:15. Does this mean that if I get seated at like 2:30, I'll have to finish my food in 20 minutes and there won't be any Pooh characters?

If anyone has the info, or a similar story or even a soothing thought, I'd appreciate it. :headache:

Yes, 4pm entry is long confirmed. Where did that dead-horse smiley go?

The end of the dining period at any character meal is some of the best time you can have. The restaurant is clearing out, and the characters have fewer people to see, so they can often spend more time and come around more than once. One of our best character meals EVER was last seating at Chef Mickey. It was like a private audience with Donald!

We have tickets for MVMCP on 12/19, which is sold out. I am expecting crazy crowds, and am a little bummed about that, but that's when we could go, and we'll be happy just to get to go at all!

My question is - for a hard ticket event like this that is sold out, what would be a good strategy for parade watching? We have a 5 year old and 2 year old, so I think the earlier parade would be a better choice for us, although I'm sure it will be more crowded. We watched MNSSHP from Frontierland and had a great view, but it was early October and not sold out, so I'm sure that will make a difference. How early should we look for a spot? If we watch from somewhere that isn't Main Street, will we miss the snow altogether or do they do that at other times aside from the parade?

I'd appreciate any tips anyone has on enjoying the party even with heavy crowds. Part of the fun with MNSSHP for us was that it wasn't crowded and lines were short, and I know it won't be like that for MVMCP, but it still seems like it should be a great atmostphere. I hope!

BDL, don't worry. The characters will still be there no matter when you are eating. They make their rounds through all the tables and fewer tables mean more interaction with my main guys Pooh & Tigger!:rotfl2:

:yay:We have finally made it :yay:

We are mid air flying over Oklahoma as we speak on our way to Orlando. We are 9 days away from MVMCP!!! My excitement is growing bigger and bigger.

Thanks for all the tips that have been given and for all sharing their information to other disses.

Headed to MVMCP tonight but have a question about which characters are out and about. Last year we saw Peter Pan and Wendy at the party. Have there been any sightings of them this year and, if so, where and when?

Thanks so much!

Peter and Wendy are definitely in the parade, but I have not seen anyone report them as a meet-and-greet. Peter Pan is usually available during normal park hours, and Wendy used to be.

If characters are your goal, my suggestion would be to look for the rare ones or those exclusive to MVMCP. Examples are the 7 Dwarves and the princes, who appear with their respective princesses.

Happy Hunting!

Thanks! Got Dwarves and Princesses & Princes during MNSSHP so looking for those we haven't seen yet. Haven't found Peter during the day but did meet Rapunzel & Flynn and Alice and White Rabbit this morning. Alice and Rabbit took a little girl on a tea cup ride which was very cute!

I was curious about the same thing so asked questions on this earlier. My understanding is that Peter is out during the day, and not at the party this year. Wend is no longer meeting even during the day. I don't think the Alice characters are out either.

I know lots of folks are excited about the dwarfs, but we saw them at MNSSHP last year too. I was really hoping for something different. Heck, even Scrooge McDuck is gone. Not all that much unique to the party this year. Rapunzel/Flynn and Tiana/Naveen are also out during the day. I'm not sure why they think people want to pay extra to see the same characters who are out all day!

The only other rarer ones I can think of are Abu and Genie. Don't remember if they were at MNSSHP. Other thing to consider is the holiday outfits characters may have: Mickey and Minnie are in holiday outfits (though by most accounts not as good as past years), and Belle appears in a beautiful red Christmas dress.

To those going this week and next week..... can you keep reporting what time you went through the princess room and whether it was Snow/Prince or Belle/Beast? I want to see if the theories thrown around earlier are still true on what their schedule is. Thanks all!

Doesn't seem crowded tonight except for in the hub for fireworks. ;-). DD chose riding Big Thunder over M&M so don't know how those lines are. Saw Aladdin (dressed as Prince Ali), Jasmine, Abu, and Genie which was DDs goal. Also saw Hook and Smee. Smee signed but Hook didn't.

Saw three ladies escorted out tonight who didn't have tickets. It was nice to see. They had staked out nice viewing spots for the parade on a bench in Frontierland. CM's came along checking wrist bands. The women played dumb. "What wristbands? No one gave us one." CM told her "follow me and we will take you to where you can pay for a ticket and then you can get one." Then he and another CM (looked like a manager) escorted the three women out towards main street. It was classic ... and nice to see that they are serious about enforcing the ticketing.

Loved the parade. LOVED Holiday Wishes. It seems that they oversell the parties though. We don't do rides at all when we can do them any time, so that's not a perk for us. We like to do the events specific to the party & we find that requires too much pushing through crowds. People stake out viewing spots for the parade well before the party even starts and then stay put until after the fireworks. It becomes difficult to get a nice viewing spot unless you're willing to forfeit all other party activities. And the scheduling of the shows is odd. We figured if we wanted to see the parade & fireworks we would have to wait until after Holiday wishes to see the shows which isn't really feasable with a couple of younger kids. So mixed reviews from us. The kids enjoyed the dance parties (esp. Woody'w) and the snow on mainstreet is very magical though ...
