Offical free dining watch 2008

ok you made me feel a little bit better about por..i just really want to take this vacation and if free dining isnt offered i might need to look into going somewhere else..plus it will be a surprise for my kids ,they have no idea we are going..i plan on having thier bags packed and at the airport( my huband works there) and they are going to think we are going to see daddy off for a trip when they are really going to be getting on a plane to disney..when at the airport i plan on handing them activitie bags for the plane..thats how they are finding out..this is going to be on a school day so after they(see thier dad off) they were going to be headed to school..they are going to flip.. thier grandmas are going to surprise them 4 days later in the park

Thats going to be AWESOME!
We did a surprise for our two older kids back in '95, it was so great! I was going to try and do it again this time for our little one, but I changed my mind this time and told her the other day... she's really on cloud nine right now, and has had time to enjoy the thrill and telling all her friends (she's 9yrs old).
Our other two are in college now, she's our 10 year after gift, so we're enjoying making some plans with her...
But the surprise, it was really really great! Have a wonderful time!

Yet another poster to say that I called today and the CM told me straight out that Monday starts free dining for Visa card holders. He also told me that they don't have the code yet but to check Sunday's paper for it. He also said that he doesn't know the exact dates yet. I asked him to take a look at my reservations and to tell me if he thought I needed to adjust the dates (my dates start August 30). He swore that he didn't know and I believe him. I can't imagine why he would stop short of telling me the dates if he told me it started on Monday for sure.

I'm happy to have heard what I did. Now.....come on Sunday's Paper!!!:cool1:

You can book online but I dont believe the free dining promo becomes available online until after the fact if thats what you were referring to? And I read on these boards that it is easier to call disney yourself! :thumbsup2

I booked online a few weeks ago.

It shouldn't be a problem to get the dining code if you've booked online. All you have to do to add the code is call the 407 disney number from the website and give them your booking confirmation number and they will take care of anything you need to change.

We've changed a few things over the past few weeks and they pulled our booking confirmation number right up:thumbsup2 :woohoo:

IF and ONLY if your room is a part of the rooms set aside for the free dining promo. Certain blocks of rooms are reserved for that, and if you aren't in one you may have to be moved.

So if AAA booked my trip, AAA HAS to call for free dining right? I'm just nervous she won't call first thing in the morning...and plus it'll be 2 hours after WDW lines open! My room is booked at POP, so that makes me even more nervous it won't be available.

Could you call Disney on your own and book the free dining package, then cancel your AAA package?

Oh that scares me for some reason! Which way should I go?? Hope that AAA can get the deal for me or call myself. Is there a penalty for canceling with AAA? What about the deposit? How would that work? Ugh decisions decisions!!

We're in the same situation. We have 4 rooms at POR reserved, and I'm scared the nonDisney knowing AAA agent that my dad has employed won't be quick enough. I want everything to go smoothly as this is a 50th anniversary trip that we are celebrating, as a GG.We will be using the DV though, so what do you guys think?

Does anybody know what "paper" to look in Sunday for the code? Disney Visa is usually so far behind that I am hoping to get a jump on this, since I have to go through AAA agent that I booked with.

Yes, but what I'm getting from the person asking, was if he/she could book online and make changes. You can book online......either way if you'd like to change something you can do it by phone once you've booked. It IS good for them to know that if they want the FDD's they may have to be flexible with where they booked and/or rooms they've gotten. BUT, the overall question asked was if they could book online.

In our case, we're going to Disney NO MATTER if we get the deal or not. Our paticular situation may not matter because we're keeping DxDDP and hopefully will get it discounted:thumbsup2

Thanks for the heads up though. I didn't mention that they'd have to be flexible from what I've heard on here.:flower3:

Does anyone have any thoughts on the length of stay you have to have to get free dining? Or at least what it was in the past?

I didn't think you had to have a code that you could just call about the free dining. We are booked @ asmovies right now. If i have to move to another value i will but what is it with the code? Where do i find it?

You have to book a room package, that was a three night minimum in the past, with each person needing at least a one day MYW bas ticket. If you have booked a 5 night stay with one one day ticket you can add free dining for each night. As long as your stay falls with in the time offered.

The code will be released to Disney Visa holders via email, (if they have that option) on the day it is released. Which could be Monday the 7th. The code will be released to the public on the 10th (if rumors are correct) via ads in the papers, on tv etc. You may or may not have to change resorts depending on if the rooms offered for free dining are available. You do have to call Disney Reservation OR your TA (If that's who made your reservation) to add the free dining or rebook in order to get it.

So should we get both the Press of NJ and The Philadelphia Inquirer?

It will most likely be in the travel section of all newspapers. We get the press so I hope its in there. If not, show of hands for all of those who will go directly to the local supermarket (we NJ folks will go to WAWA) and look in every travel section until we see the code.. :lmao:

I WORK MIDNIGHTS in a supermarket.... I will still be there when SUNDAY papers arrive.... hmmmm hope I have time to check!!!

Stupid question but will someone be posting the code on these boards?
We live in a little town and our newspaper doesn't have a travel section.

Ok more good news!!! I had my AAA agent call Disney about free dining and when she could book. The CM said "I can't do anything until it's officially announced", so it sounds like it WILL be announced for sure on Monday! :goodvibes
