Offical free dining watch 2008

Hi everyone

I have snooping here for the past week or so. So much information!

I have a few questions for the experts here.

I am planning a trip for my 2 granddaughters for the dates of Aug 27 to Sept. 1. They will be 9 during this time. Looking to stay at CS. My husband and I both have 10 day park hopper, no expiration tickets. No ticket for the girls.
Looking to purchase the dining package, or better yet get it free. It seams that according to predictions that my dates are too early for free dining. Also the child's menu may not be enough food for a 9 year old.

I can move back our trip a week (Sept 3 to Sept 8) The girls will be 10 on these dates as their birthday is Sept 2. It looks like free dining will be offered during these dates. But if not I would have to pay 30.00 per day per child for the dining plan. Is that correct? Plus higher ticket prices.

I have applied for the Disney Visa card but have not received yet.

Should I book now or wait till the discount is offered?

Any other info would be of great help.

ok i have been on vacation for the last week..what have i missed??? did they offer free dining yet..or have there been any rumors of when? let me know thanks im going to be there from sept 12-21 thanks

beginning to lose hope of free dining. I'm thinking that they have enough reservations needed for the dates they offered, a. with bounceback and b. with individuals who are booked in hopes of free dining. What if free dining is not offered then they have an outpouring of cancellations, what would the disney brains think of then to entice everyone?? I'm ready to book, want to make my ressies butttt.....I don't want to book a resort I know I might not be able to keep, plus that 200 dollars is alot for me right now, I can't afford to book, then cancel and rebook at same time. Plus not being a disney visa member (don't have good enough credit) I am starting to feel like i'm on a sinking ship. I'm going anyway, will book using my airline discount if free dining isn't given. I just wish we had some solid evidence that this is going to be offered, instead of hear say. ugh!

Please do not think I am saying this to disappoint anyone or upset anyone. If you got a discount by using the code Disney will not give you both. Per it either discount or free dining but not both. So guess you will have to do the math & see what works for you the discount off room or free dining. MHO:)

I agree. I have the 40% off and while I would switch to free dining in a minute, my dates will not be included. My August trip is 10-20 and am pretty certain now that the free dining will begin later in August. I'm lucky to have the 40% off. Actually it will be nice to be at Pop and no one there will be on the free ddp, so it shouldn't be too crazy.

I was referred here from two or three other girls on another site. I'm new as of yesterday and just booked our FIRST Disney Vacation:woohoo:

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I too am watching for the dining deals. We will be at DCSR in Mid September. Praying that those dining deals come...they would be a REAL blessing for us. We have sticker shock:rotfl2: but KNOW this is just a dream.

We're in the foster to adopt program and my husband wanted to have a vacation alone before we have children in our home. We're praying that we'll be able to bring our children next year or the year after. Right now we're excited about our first time together at Disney.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and tips with us.

I would just wait it out on your preferred dates and not book yet. The rumor is that you will be able to book free dining April 10th, so that's just a couple of weeks away. No one knows what the dates will be, but my guess is that your first week will be OK.

Are your 9-year old's HUGE eaters? If not, then I think that the kid's menu would be fine. The other thing to consider is that once the kids turn 10 then you also have to buy adult park tickets for them if you push things back a week. YOU will also have to buy tickets for yourselves to be eligible for the package, even though you already purchased the 10-days. I would suggest that you purchase 1-day passes for everyone and then upgrade the kids' passes once you get there. You can save your 1-day passes and upgrade them on a subsequent trip.

Hi I will be at POP Aug 17 - 23 I also got the 40% off. I didn't know that you had to pick 1 discount if yoiu were able to get ddp and I didn't think about the crowd issue. Thanks for the info!!! I LOVE THIS SITE!!!

Okay so I am brand new. I registered only a few minutes ago. I am aware of the past free dining offers, but I am unsure how it works. If Disney offers it again, how far in advance will it appear on this site? Also, I have a Disney Visa card, is that of any benefit? We are planning our first big trip to Disney and have found it a little overwhelming! We have not yet booked but plan to go in late August or September. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated!:cheer2:

Welcome to Dis!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is another thread also ! I'll look and repost with the names! But to answer youre question In the next few weeks you should know if they are offering free dining or not! It is rumored that they are but disney is not releasing the promo until the 10th of April! Hopefully the rumor is correct! Usually by now rumors are flying about it! But this year only very few rumors! My guess is disney is trying to keep it secret until it happens! Yes you would get to book apprx 3 days prior to the general public being an owner of a disney visa ! And I believe your deposit has to be made with the visa! You can book now and book a room only and change when free dining becomes avail! Or if you are going either way you can book everything and have free dining added if possible or cancel and rebook if need be! Hope this helps now I'm going to look for the names of those other threads for you!:)

Go into the search and type in :
Free Dining 2008 watch this thread has tons of info too! If you go under the restaurants thread then on the very top where it says free dining click on that and you can find it in there if it doesn't come up under the search option! Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Thanks robinb for the info

The girls are not big eaters but my understanding is that they would have to order from children’s menus which would be ok but one is seriously allergic to eggs. That would limit what she could eat. Also in regards to her diet would the restaurants be able to help me with making sure of the ingredients contained within the meal?
I have a good understanding of her diet but not as nearly as good as her mother. I hope to not have to call her constantly.

WELCOME!!!!!!!! You will find your answer to any Disney question you might ever have here on these wonderful boards. And if you don't get it right away....don't worry....someone will gladly to you the answer. So remember.......PLEASE STAND CLEAR OF THE DOORS.

I know for sure that you can speak to the Table Service restaurants in advance. Here's more info on food allergies at WDW: http://www.allearsnet.com/din/special.htm

I'm not sure about Counter Service restaurants, but it would be worth a new thread on the Disney Restaurants board: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&f=14&page=1

You could always tell disney that they are already ten if you are worried about that! But if free dining is not offered you will have to pay the adult price! I wouldnt change my vaca to wait until they were 10 ! It's only a matter of a week and you would be paying more! Unless free dining was offered but this also means if you do a package for there passes you would pay adult prices for them also if you say they are 10 so thats up to you! If the adult menu works better then say they are 10! Whatever works for you!

Another option for table service restaurants for you and your grandaughters if you choose to go when they are still 9 is to choose buffet restaurants. This would allow them a lot more variety as they can eat off of the adult buffet even if you have paid the price for a child's. :)

The chefs at restaurants w/ the buffets will also create a individual meal for the person with allergies.
