Offical free dining watch 2008

Hey everyone! We too have our fingers crossed for Free Dining and have been watching closely. If we are able to get it, it will be our first time and we are very excited to try it! I do have a question for those of you that have been able to take advantage of the free dining in past years......

We already have our reservations booked with the basic DDP. If we are awarded free dining, would be we able to upgrade to the Deluxe Dining and just pay the difference, or do we need to already have the Deluxe DDP booked when they award the free dining? Just a question? We would love to be able to try the Deluxe, just can't afford it if we don't get free base dining. Just trying to figure our how all this works :) Anyone out there that has done the Deluxe Free Dining, your thoughts and expeiences would be more than helpful!!! Thanks so much!

How did you get a free upgrade to SSR?

They overbooked POP and a whole bunch of people received offers to be upgraded for free to OKW or SSR. My SIL and I were both able to take advantage of the offer and ended up getting 1bdrm units...so basically we paid about $90/nt for deluxe accomodations and got free DDP. I don't think another deal like that will ever come around anytime soon!

Very nice. That would be a trip if that happened to us when we go in September for our first trip.

we booked last year with the bounce back promotion they had before we left dw...anyway It said it starts I believe on august 30 I wonder if they are going to change the date and start it earlier??? this would be great because then we could spend a few more days :goodvibes

Im hoping they make it earlier myself and i'm also hoping they offer it!

Do you know if Disney often gives these Bounceback deals? I've never heard of them in numerous trips. Will definitely ask next time!

For Disney Visa Card holder, you can sign up with your E-mail address. They just sent the one out a few weeks back for the free ticket upgarde.

i know this is about the free dining but i see a lot of you mentioning the bounceback program and i have seen it all over the boards but i have no idea what it is:confused3 could someone fill me in pleeeease THANKS!!! :)

What they (Disney) did when we went last Sept with the free dining was offer us the chance to book for next year with the free dining. We had to book before we checked out but then on another piece of paper it gave a date to book by. So you can "bounce Back" to Disney with the offer. Did that make sense?

My bounce back extends through October. I start in September. When I booked the POP was pretty full and NOT all dates were available.

please resize these images and repost - they are causing problems for other posters with slower connections - thank you!

How did you get a free upgrade to SSR?

We were booked at AS Music but met many others that were booked at Pop.

We were never told why we were upgraded free (there was speculation on here as to over-booking of Values over the Labor Day holiday).

We booked our trip online on 5/17/07 and then on 6/7/07 we received a gorgeous email, with Tink on it that said:

"Surprise, (OUR LAST NAME) Family!
We're offering you a FREE upgrade from the Disney Value Resort you booked for your upcoming stay to your choice of either:
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa—Where Victorian architecture winds through enchanting parks, waterways and golf course views...
OR
Disney's Old Key West Resort—Where the charm of a 1900s Key West-style resort meets the creature comforts of home.
Wondering what you have to do to get your FREE upgrade? Simple. Just call. But hurry, the number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited!"

We were a bit hesitant at first, as the email did appear to come from Disney but the number to call was different than Disney's number so I called the main number to inquire. They confirmed that YES it was a "real offer" :goodvibes and we upgraded!

So... for about $82.00 a night we got to stay at SSR and got three free DDP (it was 10 nights of magic to say the least)! :woohoo:

It was an awesome first trip to Disney! :cool1:

If i book my stay on Disneyworld.com over the nest week and then if free dining becomes available can I add it on to my booking? Could I do this online or would it have to be over the phone? Also would I be able to add on the tickets as I think you must also purchase park tickets to avail of Free Dining is this right? Thanks :-)

you can not just add free dining to a room reservation. a whole new reservation had to be made. they do this as they only have an alloted number of rooms at each resort for free dining. you have to call to get it right away, after awile there was an advertisment for it on the disney site, i don't remember how much later that was.

Some people will be able to just add the FD code to their room, we did last year. I had made a reservation at POP a month or two before the FD came out and I just came them the code and they added it. I then booked my BIL and SIL at POP with my Disney Visa and also didn't have a problem. I did call the morning of the first day. If they are already booked and they call early and their resort has rooms enough FD rooms allotted, they will NOT have to rebook. POP and ASMO will sell out first and if you don't have a Disney Visa and call later in the week and want to add the FD code then. Well, then you will probably have to rebook. There is just no guarantee you will or won't have to rebook. We have no way of knowing which resorts Disney will need to fill this September.
