Offical free dining watch 2008

Sorry I'm sure this question was asked before, does anyone know the rumored dates for 2008?

No, no one is talking. It's still a mystery. However someone posted Aug. 23 as the start day, but there's not even a good rumor going around. I figured if you plan to go in September there's a good chance, but if you're going like me in August, chances are not good at all.

It probably was some sort of mistake but even the person who replied before me said they got the same discount and I do know of others so it obviously was not just me. I don't think everyone necessarily did and I didn't hear of anyone who got it last year but who knows it's worth a try. I do understand that technically Disney does not stack discounts and you either get one or the other so I was pleasantly surprised when it happened and even questioned the AAA agent who told me it was the best offer she had ever booked and was surprised herself.

To be honest, I just didn't understand the uproar it caused when I mentioned it in 06, on another disney list not the DIS, because I actually had a travel agent send me a private message telling me not to post such things because I was lying since it was impossible. Personally, I think that particular travel agent was afraid it would take business from them and give it to AAA but it became a pretty heated discussion despite other people saying they also got the same discount.

Great response as I got the discount also. In 2006 I was also called a liar ???
Why are some like this !!!:confused3

OK :). I see now that it wasn't isolated but I think I will still say it was atypical. No doubt that it's worth a shot! I will probably call AAA myself when the time comes and see what they can do. I just wouldn't call again and again to try to get the discount. So many of us (myself included ) tend to call multiple times until we get the answer we want :rotfl:.

My sister told me she recieved aaa dicount (room only) and free dining in 06 and 07.
On easter I argued it was impossible (belief from reading threads)
She asked if I bet dishes. I did and lost, She showed me proof. (invoice for both years.

Wow! I would've had to do dishes too! I thought you couldn't get FD with a room only ressie? (aside from the fact I thought you couldn't stack discounts)

I am not going to say if someone did or didn't get a double discount but I wanted to share my experience. We have booked free dinning for two years and both times we booked through AAA. Both times (two different TA) I was told I had to lose the room discount as Disney would not allow me to get both. Last year my TA said Disney had a special code it went under and the room discount was automatically taken off. She tried to get me to keep both and Disney would not allow it. So maybe they have changed the way they book this deal to stop the double dipping. For those who did get the double dip congrats! Here's to looking forward to getting free dinning and I am fine with not getting the room discount too! I am one of the ones who didn't book the bounce back and now regret it! lol :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the info on AAA and free dining!! It looks like it just the luck of the draw but it doesnt hurt to ask as you might get some fairy dust your way but dont count on it. BTW I am kicking myself for not doing the bounceback either I feel like an idiot but I did not pay attention to those flyers in my room and let my kids color all over them. Now I am wiser thanks Dis

I thought that while you had to pay rack rate for the room, that there was still a small AAA discount on the tickets/package portion that you could still keep when booking through AAA.
But perhaps that's not what people are refering to here. :confused3 Just my 2 cents!

Sorry I'm sure this question was asked before, does anyone know the rumored dates for 2008?

No one knows for sure :confused3 however, bounceback free DDP people were given (during the 2007 free DDP trip) the date range to book within of 8/30/08 - 9/27/08!

August dates have went down a little yearly, since this free DDP promo began (eg it was 8/26 for 2007, and prob will be 8/30 for 2008) if offered to all.

I cannot imagine that if free dining is offered to all, the dates will be any broader than for those of us that were given the opportunity to bounceback for 2008 (just my opinion, only time will tell).:goodvibes

I would think Disney Visa holders could
book starting the 7th? If 10th is true?
Thus less than two weeks (11 days)
Is there any other site saying the 10th or just one?
Each day that goes by without another rumor is not good IMO.
Last year on 3/16th all was known (dates etc.) via rumor!
Someone probably would have leaked it by now !
People enjoy cracking the news or rumor first!
I find it hard to believe that nothing has leaked :confused3
We are now 11 days past last years rumor date....
Good luck to All

Can you book FD, or pay for it for that matter, with a room only ressie? I didn't think so, but someone has suggested they did....THX!:confused3

You have to make your room only a package and book a one day disney ticket or more.

You can now PAY for Dining with a room only AP rate. That's the only exception that I have heard of. (And now you won't get Free Dining with the AP rate:rotfl: )

I really hope it goes through for free dining this year. I could deal with having to upgrade to mods, but I don't think we can go without the free dining savings this year.

Hi, I'm new to all this...what is bounceback? Will we be looking for one during our stay in Sept. this year?

Thanks:flower3:

i talked to a cm about current occupancy levels for september. She was not sure so we (her and I) played around with room reservations for various time periods in sept, and more then a few times we could not get what we were booking. At the end of our conversation she said she personally has booked more then normal,
will this matter

I would think so. I was fussed at for saying this before, but you've gotta think, if people are paying now expecting free dining to be added on, Disney as a business has to think "If they're paying for it why should we give it to them for free?"

Don't know for sure but it wouldn't hurt to keep your eyes peeled! Bounceback was offers made to people who were staying at resorts last Sept. but they had to book the following year before they checked out. We never got an offer, but didn't know to watch for one anyway! I have heard it is on a flyer in the room but also can be found on the information channel on the tv in your room.

For those of you that say you received the AAA discount and the free dining in the past can you post the following. I actually kept a list of sample rates for each year and wanted to compare if you don't mind sharing that is

Dates and how many nights
number of people and ages the kids at that time
Resorts
Type of park ticket (example 7 day park hopper or 5 day base)
Whether you had travel insurance included or not

Thanks, looking to go in September and I have a TA I work with that isn't AAA but if the savings are much more I want to check it out

Thanks for anyone that is willing to play along
