I think the first season the calls were 99 cents each, weren't they?

Wonder how many would be willing to put their money on the line if that were the case??

John Stevens fans - get used to the abuse - I've been dealing with it for almost 30 years now because of Barry. Hasn't changed the way I feel about him one BIT, though. Some things never change!

There were never any charges for calls...my kids called a lot the first year...voting for Kelly. I would remember paying for it. It must be those speed dial things you can buy that get all those calls through because my regular old fashion phone with the re-dial certainly can't get through.

I would still call if there was a charge per call. .50 would be ok...10 calls a night I could handle that...now .99 or more I would call, but maybe not as much....vut then again maybe I would!

I'm sorry if I made anyone mad. I'm not one to fight. I just got offended over being called a teenybopper and stupid just because of who I vote for, that's all. I hope no one here hates me.

I would hate to see this thread locked. I loved this thread and the show! I haven't posted yet my opinions of who the American idol should be or how the public votes them in, but I love reading what others think, as long as it doesn't get nasty! Now, in my VHO, I think JS has a very weak voice, opposed to GH, who has that strong deep voice i adore in singers, again individual preference here . All of you that thought George should have been voted off have to remember he was ill during his last performance, but like a true performer, he still went out there and did his best at the time. But again, in my opinion, neither are american idols. I personally like Diana DiGarbo's voice, and Latoya's, but Latoya (excuse my butchering of her name) is more mature and confident, so I believe she will be the next american idol. As far as fair voting, I think one vote per household is the only fair way of voting.

Good idea. And since AI is rolling in the dough, they should donate the money earned from phone calls each week to a different chartiy. I doubt AI would charge but it is a good idea

Interestingly enough, Paula Abdul and Ryan Seacrest were talking on Entertainment Tonight this evening about the people (mostly teenagers) who were dialing 1000's of times.

Just wondering howon earth they would know it was mostly teenagers?

Any one hear anything about the voting contraversy? I turned the radio on and just caught the tail end of it. They are talking about all of the power outages and the fact that the voting was so close....but that was all I heard. Do you think they may have a revote? or extend the program one more week? and have them all perform next week?

I doubt it. During the finals last year, they had line problems and have stated that a lot of votes that were intended for Clay, went to Ruben. However, nothing got changed.

Jennifer has had a ton of publicity. She's got her foot way in the door and will also be on the Idol tour. If she can't get famous with all the exposure she's received with her being "prematurely voted off" then she was never meant to be famous.

All of the top 12 will get offers if recording companies see any talent. They need not worry.

I heard the same criticism of Josh last year. Josh, like JS, was good in a particular genre and I did like him. I didn't feel that he was good American Idol material though because IMO the idol has to be good all around.

Now, this is just MY opinion and no one is stupid or anything else if they don't agree with me. Just not as right.

I shortened your post a bit because that is the only line I want to comment on....

I think the only person that is on this show that fits that is LaToya. Everything she sings has been good.

It will be interesting to see what everyone sings this coming week. As much as I like John I can't picture him doing Latin/Salsa type of music.

Nothing to apologize for. You were properly defending your opinion. Since the mods are aware of the direction this thread was starting to take, I suspect that people will not have to do much defending in the future.

Ok guys...we don't have to debate who is a better singer and who is going to win the next AI. We should all know that the person who should win this is.....LaToya!! No need to fight..no need to get bitter if your favorite singer can't sing as great as LaToya...Just Kidding!!

OK..OK...That was just my opinion! I am glad to see different opinions here. Can you imagine if we all like the same things/people...the whole world would be bland!! Varieties of taste is always nice.

I don't think the judges should be using the word Diva because it gives the wrong impression (bossy and full of attitude).

I think it's a perfect term for Fantasia Berrino (sp?).
I was really hoping she would be the one to get eliminated, not Jennifer.
