I am about 20 minutes from Sturbridge...my DH grew up there....his twin brother is the fire chief of Sturbridge.
I will have to watch for the Sturbridge girl....I remember the comment made by the judges but I can't remember the girl. Any idea which week she'll be on?

What a powerful voice for such a young person! Fantasia is also quite good, but her voice sounds scratchy or something.

So how many finalists will there be? Don't each of the judges put their own pick into the mix? Isn't that how goat girl got on last season? She was Simon's pick? And I think Trenyce was either Paula's or Randy's.

And then isn't there a wild card show where they bring back a group for us to pick from? Or maybe the judge's picks are also in the wild card show and if they aren't picked by us, their choice gets in the final group anyway.

Help me remember!

I really thought it would be Diana and Fantasia just because they both performed well--not just sang well. These two really had the audience going with them. What did surprise me was the "pretty boy" choice--Matthew? C'mon guys, his voice was the weakest of the lot.

I am keeping fingers crossed for Katie and Jennifer. Katie was the only one of the bunch that really took a chance with her song selection. I thought it worked for her, but it surely didn't appeal to the young voting public. This sure was a talented 8! I can hardly wait to see what comes because the bar has certainly been elevated over past years!

Thanks Jeafl! I think Katie may get a wild card. We have awhile before those are chosen though!

Well, I know it won't be next week. She wasn't in the line-up that they showed. Just have to keep watching. By the way, what is your husband's name? If he grew up in Sturbridge maybe I know him or his family. Although I don't remember any twins. I lived in Sturbridge my entire life until college, then after college I moved away for about 4 years, moved back while I was engaged, and then DH and I moved to NH. My Dad has lived in Sturbridge his ENTIRE life and my Mom has lived there since she was 13, so we know lots of people ! PM me if you want!.......P

Yikes, that Fantasia chick's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. She has perfect pitch, its just the way she pronounces words or something. And since it appears all the judges and the national audience seems to love her, it looks like it will be a looooong season for me!

Me, too, Snoopy! And, it also drove me crazy everytime she sang "shumfing" instead of "something." It was like nails on a chalkboard to me, too.

I also do not care for Fantasia. A few years back I won tix to Zootopia (a huge concert put on by a radio station here in NY), and one of the performers were Macy Gray (YUK!). Looking at Fantasia's performance last night, it could have been Macy herself onstage. They both are hunched over when they sing, flying arms everywhere. They sounded identical. Even when they speak they sound similar - Fantasia just has to grow here hair out. Don't care for that sound at all.

By the way, where is Macy now?

Nope....not happy with Diana beating out Katie for a spot. I was SO glad when Matthew didn't get through...he just doesn't have the voice for this competition. I can't say that Fantasia is horrible...but I'll be happy to hear her sing a DIFFERENT song...just can't picture anyone other than Bonnie Raitt singing it.

Next week looks good...Brianna the loner and Matt the football player will be singing...keeping my fingers crossed the twins bomb their songs

I just would like to know how Matthew got into the final three. He was not one of the three best. I think a lot of women were voting with their eyes instead of their ears.

Looks like the judges are pimping Fantasia, so we may be stuck with her for a while. I'm sure a lot of the judges remarks influence the voting in some way.

In 2 weeks a girl from my town will be on the show, her name is Tiarra Purifoy, she auditioned in Hawaii.

I don't like Fantasia much either- she does sound exactly like Macy Gray, and we already have a Macy Gray in the music business, why two? I think she's a good performer, but just not up to all of the hype the judges built up for her.

I wish that Marque would have made it through, and maybe the chick who worked for DCL (she automatically wins points with me for that, so I'm unfair!) or the guy that sang Walking in Memphis (I'm sorry, I know he wasn't the best of the group, but I am a twenty-something female!)

So far, nobody is standing out like Clay did last year. I decided after last year that I wouldn't vote this year (spent WAY too much time doing that last year!), and I can't help but wonder how many other people made that decision as well?

I miss Scooter Girl. She may not be the most talented, but at least she was entertaining to watch!

I love Fantasia's sound! I don't know Macy Gray, only that she sings a theme song for one of Nick's shows, so I guess I can't compare. Nearly a quarter of the votes went to her so I guess someone likes her besides me!

I think Diana's okay, but she reminds me of Kelly Clarkson who I have never really liked. Just not enough "star" quality IMHO.

I can't get into the regional thing being from NY and living in GA. It sort of removes me from associating... if you know what I mean.

Cuz, talk about a long season. I think suffering through Kimberly what's her name made last year the longest seaon of all but I made it so I hope you all do! I spent most of the season screaming for her to GO!

And see I was one of the people voting (well not literally since I didn't actually vote) for Kim C last season, Robin! I also liked Kim L better than both Clay & Ruben. Different strokes for different folks!

Noel, was TERRIBLE! Like Randy said, he didn't get one note correct -- he was so off key, how did he get this far?

Even Ryan sounded like he was disappointed. AWFUL!

I thought the first guy sounded good -- Matthew.

Bree was so hum-drum.
