off to Vero Friday...pack bug spray?

We're off to Vero on Friday for a one week stay (BTW-had no problem booking 1 bedroom at 7 month window). I was wondering about the bugs. No-see-ums that is. I guess they will be there too. Do you have a favorite(effective) bug spray? DH reacts badly to bites...I know from these boards to stay away from the beach a dusk. Any other hints ? We were there last year in early March and I don't recall any bug problems but it was particularly cold and windy during that stay so that might have kept them away. Can't wait to see the place again! (bugs and all).

From our experience...you have to use something with DEET in it. We usually try to stay away from the stuff but it's all that seems to work against the no-see-ums.

I'm sure different things have worked for different people.

They also sell bug spray in the gift shop if you happen to forget it or misplace it while you are there.

Take bug spray with Deet but you probably won't need it. The no see ums are worse when the air temperature is above 70 degrees, particularly at night. Air temps at night are still near 60 this time of year so you should not really have a problem.
