Off-the-wall, uncouth potty-training question

My son will have just turned 3 years old by our November 3rd cruise. I would like him and my daughter (4) to be in the same age grouping in the kid's club. I just can't picture my son with the newborns. One of the requirements for kids club is that the child is 3 and potty trained.

What does "potty trained" entail? Okay I will ask it. Here goes: When my son does a #2, he is unable to wipe himself, so asks for help. He also may need a helping hand pulling down his pants or whatever and climbing on the potty. Is this considered potty trained enough? And will he get the help he needs? Or is it just a restroom with a picture of a boy on it and the three year olds figure it all out for themselves?

I'm sure some of you are laughing. Yeah, the stuff we worry about huh? Thanks in advance for the help. :P

I am sure others will be along to help, but potty trained means the Cast Members do not pull down pants, put him on the potty, nor wipe him.

I think you will have to stick to the nursery for this cruise, or just stay with him.

Not laughing!!! The CM's will not wipe, or deal with pants - from my experience. The child must be able to do all things by himself. Im sure if he came out with his pant's sagging and his hiney hanging out that the may help in that instance though :)

The toilets are small so I wouldn't worry about the ability to get on/off. Work with him now on pulling his pants down/up and also wiping. He will have it down by then. Also - make sure you dress him in pants that are easily pulled up/down.

I was on the dream a few months ago, the CM's said they will help with pants (if parents ask), still no wiping

You've still got 2 months to work on it - if it were me, I'd aim to help him pull pants up/down and get better at wiping for those 2 months, and let him enjoy his time in the club! Pack elastic waistband shorts if that helps him. If it's any consolation, my son has been potty trained for 2 years and still struggles with wiping - it's not a knowledge problem, it's a who-cares problem - I swear sometimes he must not even attempt it! He was 3 1/2 on our first Disney cruise, and he's small for his age, and had no problem with getting on/off toilets or washing hands in the club.

Sorry, but that's too funny! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Maybe to you because you don't have to do his laundry =D I have tried to tell him Mickey Mouse does NOT like poop on him, but you can't convince the kid... Who wants to waste time wiping when there is fun to be had?!

It must be a boy thing! My DS is 5 and been potty trained for 2 years and just getting the wiping thing! I feel your laundry pain! :). Thank goodness for tide stain release pods!!!! LOL

I was worried about this when we cruised in May with our DDs. We also have a 4 YO and a newly 3 YO and neither one of them is completely independent in the bathroom yet....they can get there and do their business, but they still need help wiping after pooping sometimes. It turned out to be a non-issue for us, as they only ever had to go pee while in the club. We just made sure to check with them before we dropped them off to see if they needed to use the restroom and I think the longest we ever left them in there was 2 1/2 hours. Even if there was an episode of your son not wiping completely, I think they would just call you and have you come take care of it, I don't think they would tell him he couldn't come back or anything! And I totally hear you with the messy unders when they are still learning to wipe completely....ugh! Joys of parenting! Happy cruising and good luck with the bathroom training!

I would work on it till the cruise and as a pp mentioned do elastic waistbands if possible. That way he doesn't have to zip & button up. Another idea u might try is the flushable wet wipes made for the bathroom. They are a lot easier to get clean with, and I would think the kids club would allow you to leave them for him to use if he needs them.

The toilets and sinks are kid-size and at their level. The CMs do not enter the bathrooms at all so if the kid comes out with their pants not around the waist, they might help them get that taken care of.

Our 6 year old has the opposite problem....every time she poos it's half a roll at least. And a plunger is usually involved.

:scared:
