This will be our 8th trip to Disney. We have eaten at just about every restaurant on property, and we're ready to venture off property! We're doing a "budget" trip this time and I'm interested in some off site "reasonably priced" (less than $20 pp) places with good reviews. We're staying at Wilderness Lodge, so anything in that vacinity. Chains are OK, and would also be willing to try a local place. Thanks all!

We loved Bahama Breeze! Here's the link with the menu & locations: http://www.bahamabreeze.com/

Also, most of Universal's CityWalk restaurants, except Emeril's, are in your price range. They have some fun themes. Parking is free after 6:00 pm.

We're interested too. We just found out that the character meals we wanted while we were there are all booked. We just don't to pay Disney prices without the characters.

You can do Kobe Japanese Steakhouse for under $20/person.

Otherwise, Bonefish is a good option. Cafe tu Tu Tango is good as well.

Orlando Ale House has a variety of choices - we have always enjoyed good food and service too!

We've recently abandoned the dining plan and realized that we can get a MUCH better meal, bigger portions and at a far more reasonable price by traveling off-site. We drift towards Apopka/Vineland (exiting WDW near DTD). Here are my suggestions: Chevy's (TexMex) fabulous, meals easily under $20 pp
Olive Garden (Italian) Very good, again under $20 pp
CiCi's (pizza/salad buffet...dessert too) self serve. about $7
Bahama Breeze (caribbean/american) maybe a bit above $20
Planet Hollywood in DTD the foods always good under $20
Steak and Shake burgers/fries/shakes/yum under $10 pp
just some ideas....

We ate at a Mimi's Cafe in San Diego and loved it. When I found one 5 miles down Osceola Pkwy I was thrilled. We do not have one in the NE. Lots of great choices, with nice touches. They even make mouse pancakes. Most of their diners are around $15 if I remember correctly. Breakfasts are less than $10. Hot chocolate comes covered in whipped cream, my son who is 19 still talks about it and he was 10 in San Diego.

We were looking to eat in this area (Vineland). We love Joe's Crab Shack, what else is there in this area?

Steak and Shake is always a must for us. We also always have one meal at Joes Crab Shack. Kid friendly and always reasonable.

I think there's also a Macaroni Grill, and American Joe's (or something like that), Pizzeria Uno. Another Mexican Place, an IHOP is tucked back there somewhere, Longhorn Steakhouse. Gosh, there's sooooo many. It doesn't take long to figure out that you can stretch your budget much farther eating outside of Disney.

I've just looked it up on google maps and they list 500+ restaurants within 1 mile. I didn't know there was sooooo many. We just never have driven past Downtown Disney.

Steak & Shake and Cici's are both great options. The first has really good burgers, and excellent shakes. The second is decent food, but what you get for the price can't be beat.

P.S. A good option is just to head out the east exit from DTD. From there, you can find numerous places along 535. Or you can just stay on World Dr. until you leave WDW and hit 192. There's dozens of hotels and food places along there, maybe even a Cracker Barrel.

We love Carraba's for Italian, but the one on 192, not the one on Apopka Vineland (we always get bad service there).

Thanks everyone for your replies so far!! We love Bahama Breeze, the one near us closed a few years ago. I MapQuested Bahama Breeze, and it's about 6 miles from Wilderness Lodge on 535. I'm assuming the other places mentioned (around Apopka Vineland) are all in this general vacinity along 535?? Please excuse my ignorance, we have NEVER ventured off property in 7 trips!!!

Do you know how to get to Downtown Disney? If you drive past it with it on your left, you then pass a few hotels and reach the Disney gate and a set of traffic lights. From those lights you can go left, right or straight to find restaurants! Joe's Crab Shack is left, as well as Orlando Ale House. I don't remember exactly where the others are in relation to these particular traffic lights - maybe someone else could chime in? In any case, it won't take you long to ind what you want - most of the restaurants mentioned for this area are all along that road that runs by in front of the gate.
