Off Site Restaurants

there's a fair number of national chains in the area, and lots of companies use Orlando as a test market for new chain concepts, as Orlando has such a great cross section of AMerica. they figure if it works in Orlando....

It's beena few years since I've been anywhere offsite to eat...so maybe the quality of some has changed.

A few years ago the chain Sweet Tomatoes used to get lots of positive feedback. It's lke a giant salad bar and agreat plce for vegetarian dining, not was grerat for ameat lover, but the veggies are fresh, you get soup, chili, flatbreads, ice cream, whole fruits (nothign too exciting, but you can get an apple). The nearest one is not especially close to WDW, but it's just short detour from the highway if you are coming from the airport or going near Universal. I think it's near Vineland Rd.

Ther'es also a place called Smoky Bones that was pretty resonable. Not he super bestBBQ evr, but they were good to kids in the group. I think it's an Orlando area chain.

I've also been to the Roadhouse, near 192. It's not eh same as the Texas Roadhouse national chain, and it's not as good...but it was okay.

If you like steakhouses, we had a great meal at LongHorn Steakhouse. Seated quickly in the early evening, terrific food, very good service, and I remember the bill being a little under $70 for four of us (1 kid) before tip.

The one we ate at was at 5351 W Irlo Bronson, not really close to Disney property, but I think they may have a couple of others in the area.

You need to check out Sand Lake Rd there are tons of nicer restaurants which are also under 20 per person. Samba room and Seasons Four are just two of them Too Jays Deli is not bad either. This is a little bit nicer area than the ones mentioned (except for The Mall at Milenia). This area seems to be forgotten by many and is more frequented by the locals despite that is off I drive.

Also for BBQ check out Bubbalou's. Great BBQ and under 20 it is on Kirkman I think but there are about 6 locations if I am not mistaken.

Doe anyone have a favorite Japanese Steakhouse that is located offsite?

I asked this same question a while back. And someone recommended Kobe so we have a reservation on Valentine's Day.

I'd like to see some more thumbs up for Kobe.:thumbsup2
I mentioned Kobe to my sister last night and she told me she liked Benihana in the DTD Hilton better.

Any comparisons on either here???

JennSaint - please let us know if you liked Kobe! Enjoy your Valentine's Dinner!
Thanks.
Ann

I have also been to this longhorn steakhouse location and have to agree the food is very good.

We always go to Tony Roma's during our WDW trips. We don't have one near us and I crave those ribs all year long. The last few times we went Mondays were All You Can Eat Ribs night. There are a ton in Orlando...if you look in the Yellow Pages in your room you can get an address.

I just discovered that, in the same Crossroads center across from DTD area (behind McDonalds and Chevys), there's now a FUDDRUCKERS!!! They have the best burgers anywhere (imo), and I'm happy to report that this one lives up to the quality of the ones I visited out west over the past 20+ years. :cool1:

Our local Fuddruckers just closed. Only went a few times and thought it was good. The thing is that it was located in a low traffic area where they are now in the process of building a new Super Wal-Mart, if they could have made it a few more months they may have been able to make it.

I like Logan's Roadhouse for steaks, very reasonably priced, good steaks. Better than Outback, great side dishes to choose from.

Giordano's for pizza. We eat here every time we come to Disney.

if you go out hotel plaza blvd to cross roads there are several chain restaurants at cross roads, turn left and head up the road and there is an olive garden, turn right at olive garden and there is a small strip mall type area with several more restaurants, (an irish pub, hooters, some sort of buffet steak type place if memory serves it's a carving station
http://www.carvingstation.net/
, and a japanese place I think)

How much is the dinner buffet at Golden Corral?
I believe it's between $10.00 - $12.00, however if you are able to get those tourist coupon books they always have 10% off coupons and etc. They also have them at any of the Golden Corral locations incase you don't see them at other locations like the outlet malls and etc.
