Off site guests with magic bands & AM EMH

I heard someone boasting recently that they got into AM EMH with their magic band even though they were staying off site. This was possible because they weren't checking at tapstiles for morning EMH (apparently they do check for evening EMH?) and they claimed they were having "problems with their bands" at the park entry check. We are staying onsite in August and love the perks of EMH (especially morning bc of DS5) so I have two questions:

1. Is it true that off site guests can "game the system" during morning EMH?

AND

2. Is it making a difference for crowd levels during AM EMH?

Just want to plan ahead and set reasonable expectations for everyone :)

Thanks-- 86 days to go :yay:

Maybe I'm in the minority, but...

Whether or not it works, it's wrong. When the person claimed they were having "issues" with their band, they lied to gain extra time. Is that seriously the lesson we want to teach our kids???

As far as these people adding to the crowds in the parks, I wouldn't think it would make that much difference, since most folks either don't know they can cheat the system or their mommas taught them better than to do it.

Enjoy your trip.

:confused3 I don't know the answer to the question. But I did wonder if it could be possible when the system first rolled out..all the glitches, multiple sets of bands, people selling magic bands on ebay...Some people will try ANYTHING.

If they are boasting about it, they are not the brightest crayon in the box. I mean, if you were doing something against the system, would you broadcast?

As for your trip, I don't think it would make much difference as for numbers...AM EMH are about an hour before regular opening. Some folks enter the park early because they have early ADR.

When we went with the old system, you had to show your room key to get into the line. Some CM looked closely at the dates and others just waved folks through. I guess with the new system, they could also send the patron over to the Guest Relations to figure it out now.

We just got back and they were checking the bands each time we went to morning EMH. Now it does get crowded and perhaps people do get missed being checked but I'm with the other posters - why do something you know is wrong?

I totally agree that it's wrong! And would never, ever let my family do something like that. However, you can't control what others do so it's best to be prepared!

I'm happy to hear that AM EMH crowds aren't being affected by that! With the limits of FPP and the reports of longer standby lines at traditionally less popular attractions, I was hoping to make use of those EMHs to get some important rides in.

While I'm sure it could, and probably does, happen, I am going to continue believing that the vast majority of people are honest and are above taking something that they are not entitled to.
I suppose that if a turnstile area was having issues, CMs 'might' wave guests through vs backing up the line with a reader that wasn't reading correctly. But, most people just aren't going to try and get in. Now, I wish Disney had someone stationed at the TTC, checking MBs on EMH mornings. They would have a list of anyone that had an early ADR, but if you don't and you aren't staying on-site, you don't get to go over to MK until shortly before regular opening time.

Is there a chance they were staying at an 'offsite' (ie Non Disney) resort like Shades of Green or Swan & Dolphin, where you still qualify for EMH? And perhaps they weren't actually gaming the system?

That's what I'm going to tell myself, in any case. :rotfl:

Exactly what I was thinking. We are shades guests, we take full advantage of the EMH . Not gaming the system :coffee:
