I read somewhere that it's okay for off-site persons who have a reservation to eat at Tchoup Chops can use the boat to get across to the RPR. How does it work if you are not an on-site guest? Are you allowed to go the bar afterwards, have a walk around? I imagine that can't be the case - otherwise people would book a lunch and use the pool afterwards. Surely it must be that you eat and then leave straight away through the front door!! How about the Kitchen at the HRH - I imagine you have to use the main entrance - but can you have a drink by the pool before dinner?

There are armed guards making sure you leave the resort as soon as you are done with dinner. Careful and don't make any sudden movements.... :teeth:

At Royal Pacific I don't remember a locked gate to get into the hotel by the boat dock. At HRH the gate is locked at the back entrance to the pool/hotel, but you should be able to get into the hotel by the front entrance.

At HRH you have to show your hotel key in order to get a wrist band/towel, but I don't think it would be a problem to go to the bar near the pool to sit and have a drink. I don't know their official policy, though. I would bet they would be more than happy to take your $!

The only locked gate I've ever seen is at the pool at RPR. The rest of the resort you can wander around the shops and restaurants.

From what we saw at RPR in March they welcomed all guest the boat captains where happy to give directions to off site guests and answer there queries:jester:

When we stayed at the HRH., the back gate was always locked and you had to use your room key to unlock. By the sounds of it RPR seems a bit more relaxed. Thanks for replies.:D

Last June we were staying at Disney but took a day and went to Tchoup Chop for lunch. I drove there and we drove up to the parking lot. They have valet parking right down from the restaurant. It was only a few dollars to valet park if you got it validated from the restaurant. There are directions on the Tchoup Chop site. Afterwards we just walked over to the pool area and looked around a little bit. The pool is only a few steps away from the restaurant. So, I do not think you need to take the boat if you want to eat at Tchoup Chop and then look around RPR.

Would you expect to be able to get a reservation for Tchoup chop 2-3 days in advance for a lunch? and how about evenings too? It's just I've read threads where people book months in advance - but we wouldn't know which day we wanted to go until we were there.

Selina,
We just got back from four days at RPR. On Friday at 5:15, I went to Tchoup Chop and asked about a ressie for dinner. We got in right away (5:30). We wanted to eat early anyway, so I don't know about a later time . The gate to the pool was never locked the whole time we were there and even if it was, I'm sure someone coming out would hold it open for you ( I know I would),
also the gate for the Hard Rock pool was not locked the day we went there ( Saturday). We rode the boats during the whole trip and the Captain never checked to see if you were staying onsite.

Selina u could make a couple of online reservations remember if u do not confirm by 3pm that day they let it go so u are not holding for u if someone else wants it

Thanks KittyCat and highlander. We'll probably eat there early evening so hopefully by the sounds of it we'll get in okay.
