Off-Property Hotels

Thank you for all of your suggestions. We are currenting looking at the following...

Courtyard Marriott Convention Center (not the ThemePark Entrance one) - a little further away but reasonably priced and rooms look nice and up-to-date

Anaheim Majestic Gardens - Closer but pictures seem to show out of out of date rooms in need of renovation even though supposedly they did a $6m renovation over the past few years

Residence Inn Conention Center - also closer and nice up-to-date rooms but more expensive

Decisions, decisions, decisions?!?

I have stayed at Courtyard Convention Center many times, it is our go to hotel because it always beats the others in the area on price, nothing bad about the property, but my only advise is ask for a room AWAY from elevators as people coming in late tend to be loud.

Residence Inn is really nice, stayed there once when my daughter wanted to bring a friend and got a family suite, loved that they had there own room.

I am also a fan of the Sheraton right there too, clean and very friendly.

With the Courtyard Convention Center, we often walk across the street, and take the buses to the park from the Toy Story lot. From Residence Inn we just walk to DL because it feels like we are going in the wrong direction to get to Toy Story.

The Starbucks in the Hilton doesn’t appear as a Mobile Ordering location in the app. I have tried before staying there and at Homewood Suites. I also just checked and the only mobile ordering locations in the area are the two at DTD. How do you perform mobile ordering there?

I've noticed that, too. We're staying at the Hilton for the first time next month. I was hoping to use the app to order, but I don't see that location listed either.

Do not stay at the Majestic Garden. It has some nice rooms and it has some dumpy rooms. No problems with the nice rooms but a nightmare from hell if you get one of the bad rooms. And that renovation they talk about has been going on for years and years and many of the "renovated" rooms are garbage.

We started having some problems with our stays and then we had a horrendous visit there and we were done with it. Learn from our experience and look elsewhere. Lots of good Hotels in the area. Don't spend your money with one of the bad ones.

So your trying to break the bank or not trying? Stay on Harbor Blvd within walking distance. In general south of Ball road and north or on Katella Ave. Many good not too expensive places in the area. My wife and I often stay at the Hotel Indigo on Katella Ave. Hyatt House and another new hotel right there at the intersection of Katella and Harbor Blvd. Also closer to Disneyland on Harbor is Howard Johnson and another new hotel next to Hojo. Another place directly across from Disneyland is the Park Vue Inn. Some people love it. Free hot breakfast and parking there with no resort fees. It is closer to Disneyland's front gate than the Disneyland Hotel is. Many others to choose from as well.

Not sure if it’s been suggested yet, but look into Candy Cane Inn. Clean, affordable (free parking/breakfast), and easy to walk to parks or take complementary shuttle.

Someone told me in a different thread they provide a piece of fruit, cheese stick, water bottle and granola bar for breakfast.

Which off-property hotel(s) do you prefer and why? Disneyland newbie looking to stay off-property in a nice hotel hopefully without breaking the bank (hence not staying on property).

We stayed Fairfield Inn and found the hotel very reasonable in regards to price. It also has a good view of fireworks.

The pool was adequate, there is a Panera and McDonald just outside. 3rd floor has a Pizza Hut that you can get some other items as well.

The walk to the security gate was amazing took 7 minutes?

Now that we are all clear on this (he is amused that I am annoyed...), I think I will leave Starbucks a comment on their website asking about adding mobile ordering to this Hilton location.

Ha! Makes sense. I have also used the dedicated HH gold/diamond lane and it is amazing but mobile ordering would be even better. Thanks for clarifying!

I really like Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove. Its down the street on Harbor and if you book through getawaytoday.com you get free hot breakfast buffet including made to order omelettes and waffles and a free shuttle which is nice at the end if the day after walking all day. Also the beds and pillows are very comfortable which is a must for me. Another suggestion would be Embassy Suites Anaheim south. Great free breakfast and comfortable beds. Also Howard Johnson a 10 minute walk across from DL has very comfortable beds, keurig coffee maker in room and if you have kids they have a water park for the kids with a hot tub near by where the parents can relax while the kids play. All of the above are very clean.

A few extras to pay for (parking + shuttle) but it is so far the only hotel that we have yet to have an experience at. It's our favorite hotel outside of the Disneyland resorts.

This hotel is a little further away, about two exits away, but has a free shuttle. Oddly enough I don't think we have ever had to park a car here so I am not sure if there is a parking fee.

We stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Plus inn and it did the job. Like pretty much as across the street you can get. We walked like 3 minutes before we were under the arch if that. It did the job. It was clean, it was decent-nothing amazing but we were literally only there to get ready and sleep. We've also stayed at the Hilton by the convention center and while that was very nice it was way too far away. While I would normally never think of a 15 minute walk is a lot it really is after you;ve been walking around a theme park for hours. We would end up taking a cab to come back because we couldn't stomach the walk back.

We also stayed at the Double tree and had no issues with the shuttle. The beds are really comfortable and the staff is really nice. I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience.
