O.k. I need help looking for a hotel that is off-property but near Disney that sleeps 6 people in the room - 4 will be adults and 2 will be children. We would like a suite or at least separate bedrooms. Any suggestions?

Not a hotel but I'd recommend Windsor Hills. You can get multiple bedrooms, full kitchen and laundry and all sorts of other amenities at around or less than the cost of a hotel room. And it's a very short drive to the parks.

How about a vacation home/villa/condo? I just booked a four-bedroom villa in the Highgrove/Clermont area for $80/night with the taxes and cleaning fee included in that pricing. It sleeps 8 people!

Nick hotel sleeps six but is not recommended because it has gone downhill.

Westgate Lakes is where my daughter's cheer team stays. They have rooms that sleep 2 all the way to 16. But they try to get you to do a timeshare pitch. We always just decline.

Bonnet Creek is a popular place on this board. Search Bonnet Creek and about a thousand threads will show up.

Double Tree in Downtown Disney has suites.

There are lots of choices in Orlando.

Vacation homes/villas/condos are also great. I just couldn't find them in my google searching. :confused3 I did eventually find some.

Vista Cay looks nice but no one seems to have reviewed it here in a while which makes me leary.

I highly recommend staying off site with a larger group. So much more bang for your buck! We're only a family of 4 and enjoy staying off site more than being in a cramped room on property (even though the magic isn't quite the same!). We have room to spread out, more than one bathroom, laundry in our condo and the ability to make meals as we choose. Breakfast is so much easier than racing to a CS before getting to the park and IMHO healthier. We can pack our lunch and snacks for the park and make a quick dinner if we choose to when we get in at night. There are tons of condos/houses to choose from and it can be a bit overwhelming. VRBO is a great place to get an idea of what's out there. We've rented from this site and have never had an issue. We're trying a 3 bedroom with private hot tub at Terra Verde in February. It's about a 10-20 min. (traffic/lights) drive to Disney property.
Good luck!

Try: www.homeaway.com
www.vrbo.com
Both have house and condo rentals by owners. You can use the filters to find the type of property and amenities you need.

Be careful of the listed distance to Disney. Some may say "only 8 miles to Disney." That may sound close but in reality with traffic, it could be actually a 20-30 minute drive.

We used vrbo. This will be our second time staying in Highgrove. It is about 15-20 minutes by taking the 192 to Sherberth Road and entering WDW near AK/AKL.

Here is info on the property we will rent. The owner converted to dollars for the discounted transaction.

In May we switched our timeshare to Marriott Harbor Lake. I believe you can rent them, not sure what the nightly rate is. It's about a 10 min drive from Disney right down the street from Seaworld. We had a 2 bedroom 2bath with a nice screened porch. The resort is great for families. There are 2 pools and a spray park along with mini golf and game room. They have activities going all day for different age groups. You can rent movies and games in their club house. I would highly recommend it for families

I really like the Caribe, they have 2 bedroom that sleeps 8, (1 king in master, 2 queens in 2nd bedroom and pullout queen in the living room).

What type of accommodations are you looking for? A hotel suite with a small kitchenette, housekeeping service, etc. or a condo/vacation home rental with a full kitchen and washer/dryer but no daily housekeeping services?

If you are looking for condos/homes that are a short drive to Disney I would look into Windsor Hills, Wyndham Bonnet Creek, or Sheraton Vistana Resort. From what I have read, Vista Cay is in a location that is more convenient to Sea World or the Universal parks.

WorldQuest - just outside WDW behind Nick Resort.

We had a 2BR condo, master bedroom, 2nd bedroom was twins, living room sofabed. Had a very good rate in August.

We recently stayed at the Staybridge Buena Vista. Not far from Downtown Disney, rooms were new and clean. We had a two bedroom (real bedrooms with doors) plus it had a small kitchen, eating area and living room. Made it easy for everyone to unwind after the long day at the parks. The only downside was there wasn't an elevator to get to rooms on the second/third floors, but we didn't mind. Nice large pool with extended hours and a great breakfast included in the room fee. All in all we were very happy with our stay there.

If it were me, I'd need a three bedroom place! Two adults in each bedroom, and then one for the kids. Everyone will sleep better.

Although it is super duper close and convenient, the previous poster did mention the Doubletree in Downtown Disney. I've stayed there twice, and it is a suite (you can get two beds in the bedroom, door to separate, then a sofa sleeper in the living room). It has a kitchenette, and yes the best part is it has free and good transportation to all the Disney parks. To me, though, six is pushing it for a good nights' sleep.

I'm so partial to Marriott brand (since my DH travels a lot, he's platinum, so we always try to book them to keep his status, and we own two weeks EOY at Ko Olina). I would see about the Imperial Palms if it were me - but like I said I just always look at Marriott first! It's connected to the Marriott Orlando World Center - just 4 miles to Typhoon Lagoon and Epcot area. You can use the pools at the Marriott (as well as your own small one) - which was just redone and looks amazing. The Imperial Palms are all 3 bedroom units (the Sabal Palms and Royal Palms are two bedroom ones, and the Royal Palms only has one bed in the second bedroom, so I'd rule that one out for sure).

Yes, you can book it through Marriott, but it's expensive that way. Better to look at rentals on www.redweek.com - I've rented several times from owners at Marriott and Disney Vacation Club places through redweek before.

You can see some properties on redweek - just remember that you won't get daily maid service as you're treated like the owner. That doesn't bother me, since I don't need maid service usually in a condo. Dirty towels just get tossed in the wash!

I would definitely check out renting a vacaion home or condo.
We stayed at a resort called Oakwater last march and really enjoyed it.
the rates are very comparable to hotels. The one we stayed at was www.enjoyoakwater.com and it was very clean and nicely kept. The location can't be beat. You can also go to vrbo.com and choose the Oakwater community in Kissimmee (or Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms)
The downside is you don't have daily maid service, have make sure you bring your own toiletries, the upside is you do have a full kitchen with washer and dryer.

That is where we stay when we stay off site. Great place! Don't forget they have a free continental breakfast daily too.:goodvibes

We have 6 people (also 4 adults and 2 kids) and we decided to go with Lake Buena Vista Resort Village.

We got a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite. They also have a zero entry pool and an awesome huge pirate ship with water sprays and/water slide to play on for the kids.

And they are right next door to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores...so some good shopping opportunities for Mom ;) :thumbsup2 .

I would highly recommend the Sheraton Vistana Resort. Beautiful villas, tons of space, fantastic resort amenities, and super close to DTD. Parking is free, internet is free, and you have the option of either renting direct from Sheraton or from an owner (at a substantial discount). The property is beautiful and the FUN team has some great daily activities for kids of all ages (including us...ugh...."mature" ones ;) ).

You can check out the link to my August trip report in my signature for a ton of photos of our villa and the resort itself.
