Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had ever filed a complaint to OFCOM before? I was watching something earlier which really upset me but I'm not going to complain because I'd feel silly, it was probably just me overreacting.

In case you're wondering it was that new Gillian Mckeith show on C4, "3 fat brides, 1 thin dress" (I should have known better than to watch it, I think she's an evil witch of a woman.) At one point she took one of the brides into a church and inside was a coffin with a veil and bouquet in it. I can't even remember what her point was, just something in general about her bad diet and how it would kill her. Anyway, as a bride it really upset me to see that and to hear her talking about how people get buried in their wedding dresses. I'm going dress shopping with 2 of my bridesmaids tomorrow and I don't want to be thinking that I might be wearing that in my coffin!!

This was just before the ad break and when they froze the screen to go to the ads it was a shot of the coffin and they had computer imposed the brides face inside the coffin where her head would be. That was just way too far in my opinion :sad2:

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had actually taken the next step and complained?

ive never complained to Ofcom but i agree that semed a rather crass way to make the point :sad2:

I've not done it myself but I used to occasionally read the ofcom report which listed all complaints and the decisions made about them. There were complaints about less I can tell you ;) What you saw sounds like a tasteless demonstration of a fact so I'd go for it.

I didn't see it but I agree there were probably better ways to make the point. Personally, if it upset you, I don't think it matters whether other people consider it wrong or not - it is about what you deem unacceptable. I would go ahead and make the complaint.

I would go ahead and complain, too many people just let things go and that's why we get so much rubbish on tv.

I agree with Joh, if you personally find something offensive you have the right to complain. I do feel hat people sign up to Gillian Mackeiths regimes because they need the shock tactics to make them see sense and control their eating. I think its a very desperate measure but her programmes have always enforced the element of death due to obesity so I didn't find it particularly shocking
