Hi Everyone,

I am new to the boards and have recently found the dis on youtube and love the show!

But that is not the reason I am posting here, I've heard a rumor and want to know if anyone else as heard this as well. This is through the grapevine and I have no validation of this (hence why I am on the rumor board).

So heard that a person that works at Disney (no clue of the name) was asked off record of a possible 5th gate being talked about again. This person responded well we could be building one now and you would have no possible way of knowing. The response to that was "well nothing on google earth shows any sign of construction on property!" persons response "there is ways around that and all the satellite maps available"

I know this is a stretch and I am having trouble believing this myself. Anyone else heard any rumor the same or close to this?

Thanks for sharing your information! Let me point some things out though.

1. Front line cast members are not usually in the loop about inside projects. The ones who do don't share the information.

2. If they were hiding something the word would come out.

3. In this day and age somehow people would find out about it through permits or materials coming to property.

So I doubt the 5th gate is happening, but thanks.

Basically, he didn't say they were...he just wanted to keep you thinking they are...

Disney has NEVER hid construction from satellite images, and beyond them creating a ginormous scrim like the ones they do for the building facades except it's of trees seen from above, I don't think they have a "way" around it, beyond the fact they don't get new images every day.

Disney will feign ignorance when asked about construction, but it's always been pretty obvious that SOMETHING was going on.

Other times Disney announces what they are doing...but little actually happens...Flamingo Crossing, anyone?

Yep, I have to agree with this. There is no way Disney could hide something as big as the construction of a new park. Even if they did block satellite images, there are constantly people flying over the property (Scott Keating for example http://pix.aerog.com/) that would see something like this. And as you mention, they would have to file permits for this and that would be in the public record. I check these permits daily for another site, as do people on other sites. Also, even if they put all the contractors on an NDA, something would leak, it might not be details, but that fact that a major project was going on would be leaked.

Even though I know you are joking, I am anal enough that I still need to point out there is no "underground" in Florida, you can't dig down in swampland. Everything in WDW is aboveground - even Pirates - unlike the California park where a lot of rides go underground.

That is what makes this so genius! Walt built giant concrete caves so massive they can house an entire park! In fact, he is very much alive and well and planning this park himself! He'll be the grand master on opening day and it will be an epic event!

I can't wait to get Walt himself to sign my Magic Band! Wonder if you'll need a FP+??

Lol. .... WDW's construction is typically about as subtle as an avalanche, it's funny to imagine them building a 5th gate in secret.
