I was just looking at it through Google Earth and was wondering what they use it for now? Special events?

Yes. We did a Grand Gatherings dinner there a couple of years ago. Dinner at the Odyssey, dessert and Illuminations viewing out at the world showcase. It was enjoyable. I just need to find four other people to do the Grand Gatherings again!
