I think I just got the oddest Christmas gift request I've ever had.
My niece is 14 years younger than me--she's more like a sister to me. She's 28, is married and has 3 kids that I love to spoil. She recently became a SAHM over the summer and I know money's tight.
So, as I do every November at dd's b-day party, I pulled her aside and asked what everyone wanted for Christmas. After we had the kids sorted, I asked if she and her husband would like a check or a joint gift or what this year? She got all excited and told me, "I almost brought it with me." Huh?
Seems she has this huge pile of MENDING. The girl can't even sew a button on so her request for me is to ummm....do her mending for her.
Now, I've never had a mending PILE in my life (I take care of this stuff as it happens)--I can only imagine what's involved here. She's bringing it to Thanksgiving dinner so I can take it home and get started.
Then she assured me that this is a joint gift for her and her husband. (I think he's been nagging her about doing this!) Oh, I love her so much, she ALWAYS keeps me amused.
So, what's your oddest Christmas gift/service request?
